Play 36 holes at the Ranch using an under par deal on a beautiful day. Course is in great condition. Fairways were lush, and he rough not too penal. Found several bunkers and the sand was plentiful and well groomed. The greens were still recovering from a verticut treatment. A fun and very scenic layout. Somewhat tight on the front nine and more open on the back nine. Definitely worth the road trip!

I would expect much better customer service given the amount they charge. In reality, it was just so so.

Course had a small all-grass driving range with maybe 12 slots to hit. 2 practice greens but I didn't see any short game practice area.
Staff was ok. not super friendly as most normally at resort courses.
Carts - no gps but yardage books available for purchase ($5) - definitely recommended esp if first time playing.

Lots of trees that will either make u think your shots. This is more true on the teeing ground. Pretty tight fairways for the most part compared to its sister course.
Not too fond of the design. There are some memorable holes but overall I would consider it an average course. Certainly not worth their normal fees.

The best part of the course is the greens. Fast and enjoyable to putt on.

There is a creek that runs through the course but being dried out - offers not much of any eye candy for this golfer. Conditions for most part are better than most courses but it does show signs of the summer heat.
Bunkers has some sand in it but kinda heavy sand and compacted so not much fun hitting out of.

Recommended if in the area just for the experience. Certainly not worth the drive if just playing this course.

Played here yesterday morning in an SCGA Member's outing. It was a good excuse to play this semi-private course at a reasonable rate ($85) rather than having to stay at the very expensive resort. GKer Eaglee was in my group along with a guy who works for the SCGA and we had a lot of fun out there on a picture perfect day. 8:30 Shotgun start and never seemed that slow during the round, so I was surprised when I looked at the time when we finished and it was almost a 5 hour round. Didn't mind, though, because the course was beautiful. The course is in spectacular shape right now. The tee boxes and kikuyu fairways are more or less perfect. I only noticed a handful of small thin spots all day. The rough was lush. Not cut deep, but still enough to make you work. The greens were just about perfect. Soft and receptive enough and smooth/quick/true on putts. Bunkers full of super fluffy sand. Top-notch conditions all around. The course layout was much more interesting than I expected. Some old school qualities with very tight, tree-lined fairways, a few semi-blind shots and some tricky doglegs. Good mix of hole designs and length and slight hilly terrain throughout. The creek runs through the middle of the course and comes into play on almost every hole, either as a hazard area along the side of the hole or cutting across in the middle of a fairway to force some risk/reward decisions. The greens here are really tough to read with some severe sloping. Typically more break than you think. Stay below the hole if you can! What a gorgeous course in an idyllic setting. We saw at least a couple dozen deer on the course during the round, as well as some wild turkeys roaming around. Wish they had more public access for non-resort guests because it really is one of the Central Coast's best "gems" if you ask me.

Played late morning on Tuesday, 4/9/13, in Round 2 of the SCGA Amateur Net Championship. Very private course allowing SCGA to bring the tournament here. Old-style course with huge trees framing narrow fairways, smallish slopy greens, most without a lot of tiering. Trees force you to be very accurate off the tee. Most greens have substantial amounts of sand around them, and there are lots of hazards and staked areas, as well as OB, in close proximity to the hitting lanes. Wind was not as severe as on Monday but needed to be factored in on most shots. Greens rolled well at medium speed. Rough was pretty benign, traps were in good shape. Some tees were a little torn up, but were generally level and playable. Fairly small warmup area and putting green for larger tournaments. Old design has some weird holes - one par 5 where a creek crosses at 230, and a 420 yard par 4 where a creek forces a layup and a second shot of 200 yards into a green fronted by huge bunkers. Generally flat except for a couple of par threes with substantial elevation change. No GPS, but yardage book available and stakes/sprinkler markings generally available. Recommended.
