Saturday, 6/8, with a 2:00 tee time. Easy check in, nice club house and food. Starter got us out about 1/2 hour early since no one was ahead of us. We played in just under 4.5 hours, letting 2 singles play through on a very hot day. Carts had very nice GPS systems and coolers. Water available throughout the course. Only real negative was no drink cart after the front 9.

Course was pretty good. Fairways were firm and a little dried out, but no real bad spots. Rough was barely longer than the fairway. Bunkers looked OK, but I wasn't in 1 all day(!). The elevated tee boxes were fairly flat. Greens looked fast, but were not. Firm, but a slow medium speed. There also has been a grasshopper invasion in St George, and they were making their home on the greens and fairways. The fairways were not that bad, but you had to keep the windshield up. It took some time to clear up your putting line.

Overall, a good course. Very different holes, and back 9 has 3 par 3s and 3 par 5s. Nice scenery.

This course isn't bad but it is overpriced compared to other quality courses in the area. Conditions were so-so - teeboxes could use some work. For a course rated highly on Utah lists I was disappointed in the conditions. Sand Hollow was so much better and 20 bucks cheaper.

Customer service in the restaurant was poor also.... the waiter suggested I go outside to pre made BBQ rather than order from him.

Tee boxes, fairways and rough in great shape. Bunkers and greens; not so much. Bunkers had hard clay in them making it impossible to get any sand behind the ball. The greens were fast and mostly smooth. However, the divot damage was next to extreme. It may be since they started areating today, folks decided not to fix their divots.
Other then the 100+ temps, and fatigue of driving from Hemet, I had a great time.

Played 5/27/12: It had been a few years since we last played here,so we decided to give it a GO,found a deal cheaper than booking online direct at the course website even with the booking fee.

On the drive over,we could see some of the holes as we were about to exit the I-15. Pleasantly surprised the course was looking very green! So many nice courses nearby,felt good to play this layout again.

Check-in was real easy, Gil (Starter/Cart attendant) allowed us to take a cart to our car & load up. Practice range is all grass, we spent our warm-up time on the chipping green & the putting green! So glad that time spent on the two tiered practice green was worth it!

Extremely fast & not because of the winds...A player made a comment to me, said the course is even faster! Had just finished playing a morning round.Sure wish I had a stimp-meter? Naw, putting on ice would be slower than these greens.

Layout: The first TWO holes are PAR 5's AND the last "FIVE" holes on the back nine are PAR 5's mixed in with a BEAST of a PAR 4 15th hole and ONE par 3. Course designer is Keith Foster. There are a few holes that make you think it's BETTER to layup than try to carry the desert terrain to reach the fairway on the other side.

The surrounding scenery of St. George area & the natural terrain makes for a scenic layout in my opinion.

There are GPS units on the carts that show each hole layout, however we as a group found the yardages provided can be incorrect EX: Hole #4, #7 #9, #10 & #18.

Fairways: Some of the them are currently being punched & aerated in certain locations but overall very good conditions despite the required maintenance.

Greens: As I mentioned earlier, lightning fast! There were NO inconsistent green speeds, all putted true, rolled smooth, NO surprises. Plenty of un-repaired ball marks by lazy UTAH people.
Even though greens were a little firm, held most of my approach shots, ball checked 3-4 feet when landed, helps using a 3 piece layer ball.

Rough: very consistent, maybe 1 1/2" at the max, most errant tee shots would be sitting up.

Bunkers: Here is where I gave a "1" rating out of "10". I was only in "3" bunkers but each one was extremely hard dirt, NOT sand! I used my all terrain sand wedge & STILL did not even make a mark in the dirt where I made contact. :(

We took some recent pictures so everyone else can enjoy the surrounding beauty of this course. The pictures you'll see are NOT how the holes are designed.

Pace of play was about 4 hours, could have been faster but we spent time on each hole looking for ONE players golf ball all day long. It may have been his first time playing this course, yet still very tiring to watch. We let a single play through, never saw him again the rest of the day!

One side note: On hole #10, I hit my approach shot (7 iron) from the fairway, thought for sure it would reach the green, surprised to see it in the bunker....Huh? It was a BROKEN 7 IRON, I recently had the Roger Dunn techs look @ it, they said the glue was loose & supposedly re-glued it for me "no charge". The graphite shaft broke exactly in the same spot as my 6 IRON which I also snapped this past Dec. at ROCK SECCO with Johnny & Rob1563.

I'm going to re-shaft the 7 IRON like I did the 6 IRON, but if it happens again...might be time for an upgraded travel set....:(
I've had this set close to 5 years, could be the heat that has taken it's toll on this travel set....

Played on 5/27/2012 with my husband Gary. It was a beautiful day, in the mid 70's with 5-9 mile per hour winds. After playing in 30-50 mph winds I consider these winds breezy. ;-)

Greens: Fast with a lot of ball marks, but the ball ran smoothly. If your approach shot hit the front of the green it would roll to the back of the green. Almost better to hit in front of the green and have the ball run on.

Fairways and rough: There were some holes where they had punched them with dirt turds left all over them. In fairness it look like they only punched sections of the hole and not the entire hole. Also, a few holes had stakes and rope with ground under repair. To me this is good and bad. It's not so fun to play with these conditions, but at least I know they are keeping the course in good health.

Tee boxes: Were good.

Sand: It's a pretty coral color, but with rocks and very hard! So of course I rated the sand as poor.

Layout: The layout is interesting and has some challenging holes. Play from your appropriate tees and you will enjoy your round. The scenario is wonderful in "color country" with beautiful desert buttes in the background.

There's a nice practice range, putting green, and separate chipping green with a sand bunker. The practice green and chipping area are located close to the club house so you can work on your short game while waiting for the starter to call you to the first tee.

Customer Service: Very friendly without being pushy.

Overall: I always love playing this course. For some reason it suits my game because I always shoot a lower score here. It has been a few years since we played the course. I am glad that it still is worth the money and it will stay as one of my St. George, UT favorites.

I played a round here on 7/17 and I was pretty impressed. Clubhouse is nice and all the staff that we interacted with were great. The course layout isn't anything too special, your typical desert course with pretty generous fairways but OB lining just about every hole. The course was in great shape with lush fairways and greens and the bunkers I ended up in were all soft with plenty of sand. Since it was the middle of summer the course was almost empty so my friend and I were able to finish our round in right about 3 hrs. Overall, I'd definitely come back for another round when we make another trip back to the area.

Played on 10/3/10. Beautiful course, which was in perfect condition. The only knock is on the sand traps, which were a little hard and crusty. Greens were just soft enough to hold the ball without a lot of spin, but rolled true. Perfect speed as well. From the championship tees, over 6500 yards, which made for some tough forced carries. Bring some extra balls, if you go off into the desert areas, you will not find them easily. Service was adequate, no cart girl because of the lack of business on that day, but the other staff was good. Highly recommended.

I liked the course overall, but there was a lot of bare spots in the fairways(they were even replacing some turf) , the fairways were a bit wet due to overwatering and all the bunkers were very wet. The course has a nice layout with some unique holes. I would reccomend this course, but you might want to check on playing conditions.

Played 6/10/2008 for the second time. Still love this course. The condition Greens, good to great. There were a few with some thin spots, might be due to the time of the year. Tee boxes and fairways no complaints. Great combo of holes. There are a couple of very short par three's but they are not necessarily easy. Long par fours along with some short but demanding ones as well. Driving range and practice chipping area could be maintained a little better perhaps but that is no distraction to a truly fine course to play.
