We played on Sunday 10/23 at the twilight rate. Had a group of 6 and there wasn't a problem getting us in successive groups. We all loved the course.. except maybe a couple of HUGE red bunkers I found myself inhabiting.. Greens were perfect with some interesting undulations and the fairways were great! Some HUGE drop offs on the back 9 made it very challenging and we had MANY times we stopped for photo opportunities. We agreed that of the 4 courses we played on the trip, this was the best conditioned and was the best spent $50 of the trip. We are looking forward to next time!

Second time playing Sand Hollow. Really like the back nine. but front nine kind of boring. Conditions were immaculate as usual. The greenest fairways I have ever seen, feels like you're playing on carpet. Tee boxes as well. Back nine visually stunning, but all in all there are so many other options in St. George, to me not worth the 100.00 we spent to play.

8 of us decided to come up to Mesquite for our annual summer golf trip instead of Palm Springs and we played this course twice on Fri 8/26/11. Do yourself the favor and drive the hour drive north of Mesquite through the Virgin River Gorge up to this gem. Even though the temps were in the mid 100's the conditions of the course were better than the courses I play in the San Diego area. The holes along the cliff on the back nine is a trip, if you hook it don't get too close to the edge. Great scoring if can keep the ball out of the vegetative areas. This course is in my top ten to play!!!

We played on August 8/8/11: This is a MUST play golf course located NE of St. George in the city of Hurricane. (Watch your speed, the Police do enforce the 50 MPH limit on the drive there and back). It is located in the Sand Hollow housing development but at this time there are no homes near the golf course.

The clubhouse is in the early construction stages, concrete has been poured. It will overlook hole #1 tee box and green #9 and #18 when completed, it will be a sweet view too! For now, temporary trailers is the pro shop, actual working toilets not port-a-potty units.

Once you arrive, you will be pleasantly greeted with a golf cart, NO PRESSURE for the staff to load your bags, simply (at) your leisure which is what I like. I don't like to be rushed & leave something in my car...

BRING a CAMERA! I took pictures with a small digital camera which are ok, doesn't do the scenery justice....

Golf carts have a very nice GPS system, which works perfectly. The ONLY negative is the constant FIDELITY Ad's that keep popping up on the screen. We are playing GOLF, not investing in the market or anytime soon! really annoying...I know whatever pays the bills....but come on!

When driving the fairways, you will notice a quirky movement while inside the cart. The carts are not broken or need an alignment, it's the fairways turf condition's, hence "SAND" hollow. It makes you feel like you are having a slight earthquake while the cart is in motion is the best way I can describe it. Letting you know to be aware of it.

Very nice long Par 4 to start your round on that plays downhill & downwind, nice large fairway! It's straight away, not to the left which will be hole #9.

On this course always play to front number of the green, the greens look soft but are very firm and roll. EX: After a perfect drive 263 middle of the fairway, I had 170 yards left to the center with a back pin. I normally hit a 6 iron, I backed off and hit an 8 Iron! so glad I did, almost dropped for a (2) but had a tap-in birdie. My ball mark was near the front of the green. That was a BIG "8" Iron for me.

So please be aware of where the pins/flags are located and make sure you cover (Play) the distance to the front of the green. It will help you have better chances to score. Do the same thing on the ALL the PAR 3's especially there, golf ball will release more than you think.

I Truly LOVE this golf course, it has the perfect mixture of a challenge and being rewarded for it. The back nine has a killer hole #12 plays all uphill to a very narrow landing area. In my opinion, it's EASIER to hit the fairway from the BLACK tee box than the WHITE tees. Gives you so much more room even though it's 445 yards!

This is a course you need to play a few times, there are no homes on the course that give you any visual sight-lines so rely on the GPS provided. Lasers worked perfectly as well as the hand held Golf Buddy unit.

Greens were in fantastic condition...look carpet soft but are firm, speed is faster than normal conditions. They are also somewhat undulating, some can be a roller coaster effect EX: Hole #7.

BTW, Hole #6 is a BEAST! Par 4 (NOT 5) 470 yards from the BLUE'S, play it up the right side to get some extra distance off the down slope.

Bunkers: Are a bright deep red color. Probably best not to wear your good socks when playing, the dirt stays with you unless you don't hit into any bunkers!

Practice Facility: Excellent targets, very nice putting green to practice on before you drive through the construction near the #1 tee box. Watch out for the dirt movers for the time being till the clubhouse is completed.

I'm sure I'm missing something..I'll just have to go back and play it to see what it was...

This place is simply a world class golf course. I've made a trip to St George each of the last 3 summers just to play this course. My friend and I played 36 holes here on 7/16 and probably would have played 18 more if we'd had time! Conditions are truly immaculate, even in the oppressive summer heat. We always come midsummer because the prices are great ($100 total to play 2 rounds on a Saturday) and the course is pretty empty due to the heat (didn't see another group on the course for either round). The layout on the front nine isn't too special, most holes are pretty flat and open but there is still some challenge. The back nine is where this course really earns it's merit. Half of the holes lie along the edge of a canyon giving incredibly scenic views as well as interesting and difficult shots. Overall, I've never encountered better conditions even at courses that charge 2-4 times as much to play (Wolf Creek, TPC Vegas, PGA West, Monarch Beach, etc.). If you get a chance to play here do yourself a favor and jump at the opportunity!

Played this course yesterday June 19. Fabulous layout. The front 9 is a combination of links and regular layout. The Pro Link GPS is wonderful for seeing the course. Several holes allow you to putt/chip if you land in front of the green. Others are well guarded by the 84 bunkers that are on the course. The red sand is hard, compacted and difficult to get out of. When you ask the starter for tips "stay out of the bunkers and you will be OK." No other tips needed. You can create a low score here, before you head to the back nine. But only if you stay out of the bunkers. This course also has natural desert left/right of each hole. So if you go in, be careful or just hit another ball. Hole number 6 is a long par four, playing 439 (tips) and you need to hit a long drive to get home in two. If you stay right of the rock in the fairway, or hit over it, you can reach the hole, in regulation. Hole # 8 is a short par 3 but uphill and you don't see it from the green. Don't leave it short. Number 9, long uphill, guarded by a big bunker. Hit it straight at the bunker in the fairway, take enough club to clear the bunker and your home with a par. Now we go to the back 9 which is great from 10 through 15 and what everyone raves about. Hopefully my pictures will give you an idea of the holes? They are scenic; very well laid out using the topography; fun to play. Number 15 is the signature hole and a great par 3. Number 17 is a Par 5 and you need to hit a long drive. Large red sand waste area (like the bunker sand) you need to clear for your second shot. Number 18 is a long uphill hole, almost identical to number 9. A long drive will get you home in two. The greens are not flat on any of the holes. They are large and have many undulations but they putt straight and true. The staff is wonderful and very gracious and go out of their way to may it enjoyable. I suggest you play early in the AM, as the winds come up and are strong being on the plateau. There is no pro shop. Only a trailer. So bring supplies (water, beer, etc) of your own. No beverage cart. The practice facilities are great. There are many wonderful courses in St. George and I would encourage you to play this one when you visit. I won't go as far as saying this is my favorite course, but it is certainly one for all of us who play to put on your list of courses to play. The course looks harder than it really is. Use the Pro Link GPS (it works) and the proper club and you will score better than you think you can. And if you don't feel like playing golf, Zion National Park is right up the road. Enjoy it, we did.

Played 6-7-11.
As I stated from last year: Incredible, if not one of the best courses ANYWHERE. Once they get their clubhouse done, this place won't be touched!!!

Played 5/23 at 1pm. We knew they punched the greens a week ago but were in Vegas area so decided to drive up anyway. What a great course. First time playing the red rock trail course so the view was just amazing. Especially the back 9 which had a great view of the Virgin River. Tees, fairways and rough were just perfect. Service was great also but after a long drive they only had a little grill with limited food choices. Clubhouse being built and will be completed in Nov they said. Can't wait to get back and play many other courses nearby. If you want experience normal greens, should wait couple more weeks though.
