m2rogers - Granite Bay
Greens somewhat slow but smooth although many soft spike marks on the green. Greens not holding shots very well right now (October before aerating) as they seem quite firm even though speed is medium. Second cut of Rough is ridiculously long on this course and the cost ($57) for a mid-week senior green fee is high for this area. Most players are seniors who live at Sun City so why they have let the rough grow so long is a mystery. It adds at least a half hour to the round and many people lose multiple balls when they should be easily findable with reasonable rough length. The course is longer and tougher than the Hills course at the same location. Several holes are close to 400 yards or over for par 4's played from the white tees and play into the prevailing wind. Not for short hitters. All in all a challenge and a course in good shape but very tough for 20+ handicappers.

played 8-17-06. 2:00 p.m. rate of $29 includes cart and range balls. supernice staff. great pace of play. greens are in very good condition. recent heat has almost destroyed the fairways. but a fun, open course. very good for the ego. highly recommend even though the fairways are in poor condition with lots of dry, bare areas. fine if you can hit from very tight lies.

We enjoyed the new holes/layout and would definitely come back and play it again. Our main complaint was having to listen to the cart staff squabble as we arrived at the course and were loading our carts. It was extremely unprofessional. Also, on an almost 100 degree day, I would expect to see drinking water on the course. An employee came around at the 15th hole with drinking water and asked if we needed to refill our water bottles.
