Played 6/6/13. This is my second time here and both times playing in June conditions have been phenomenal. The scenic beauty of this course is as nice as anywhere you will ever play. The amount of Saguaros on this course is awesome. Played saguaro-tortolita today and couldn't have had a better day. The course is now called "the golf club at dove mountain" and while it is still the Ritz-Carlton's golf course, I guess they no longer manage it. ??? Logos, tee markers, etc. are all changed, but still same great service and restaurant. Either way, this course is great. Have a burger after the round. Probably the best burger I've ever had (two years in a row).

I played on Friday, Aug 24th. We played the Wild Burro as the front 9, and Saguaro as the back 9. The greens on all 18 were extremely soft and long. It might be because of the amount of rain the Tucson area has received, but it didn't look as if the greens had been cut in weeks. The greens were so soft, you left pretty deep foot prints just walking around, which made it very annoying playing behind a 3some that apparently did not know how to pick up their feet when they walked. The tees, fairways, and rough were in good condition on the Wild Burro. The condition of the fairways on the Saguaro 9 were in very rough shape. I'm hoping that's only because it will soon close so the staff can work on it like they probably are with the Tortolito 9. Customer service was great as always, and weather was also very good.

Played Saguaro and Wild Burro nines on 6/16. Saguaro nine (front 9 for the tournament) had a few areas that looked rough (brown or bare) but for the most part the course was in very good shape. All greens ran true. Wild Burro nine was much greener, also had perfect greens. Holes on the Tortolita nine looked to have many dead/bare spots, and it seems based on tee time availability that nine may be closed for much of the summer. Not sure if they are doing work back there or what.

Three excellent nines here, all very difficult. Course is wide enough for the most part but lots of holes have forced carries over washes, the bunkers are deep, and the greens are something else. I love it, but it's not the ideal "resort golfer" course.

Played here on 1/27/12. Awesome course and pretty difficult. Might have been a little easier if I didn't live in Minnesota and played more recently then October. Tourney is in 3 weeks, so they had up the bleechers, etc. The course was in perfect condition and the greens were perfect and fast. Must be accurate though out here, as if you stray, you're in the desert. We played the Saguaro and Tortolita nines. The same set up as the Match Play tourney. It was cart path only, so that was the only draw, but it was still a very nice course and great service, practice facility, etc. And for only $119, you can't go wrong in the peek season down there.

Played on 8-18-11 They really treat you like your a member of a private course. Great service and practice facility, We really liked the way they stager each group to help with pace of play. Plus its nice not having anybody press or wait for other groups. From tee to green course in great shape, as long as your in the fairway the lies were perfect. Sand was soft but, firm not used to hitting out of what bunkers (should) be compared to the hard rock filled sand that is common among desert courses. Greens were true and held although there were quite a few divot marks but, if there is any complaints about the course this is a very small one. Watch out for the rough around some sand traps and greens REAL long and you can loose the ball was not used to that but, just different. It's pretty wide open but, traps put into stratigic places so be careful. Quite a few carries over desert washes but, nothing serious. Played the Wild Burro and Tortolita The Wild burro is I think the tougher of the 3 nines but, as with all the courses the views are spectacular. This course is a must play for any golfer especially for the price this time of year, I will be back. One more thing SNAKES! so be careful.

Played March 13. I’ve played many tournament courses and this is the first one that looked as good in person as it did on tv. The course was in perfect condition, including the rough, very rare in Az. This could be because we played soon after the match play and the course may not be in normal shape. We played Wild Burro and Saguaro, Wild Burro isn’t part of the tournament. I liked Wild Burro best, it goes east towards the foothills, some great holes. Saguaro goes to the se with views of valley, really has a lot of saguaros. Both nines have wide fairways and big green complexes. There is also a very good practice area. I don’t usually mention the service, but it was exceptional here and deserved praise. I will definitely be back.

Played March 4 at 10am for 165$. Course was in great shape and very tough. The rough was very thick and the greens very slick with lots of undulations. I would recommend buying a yardage book as there were some tee shots that required you to lay up but you could not see the end of the fairway so we ended up hitting into the desert a few times. Very scenic with lots of big cactus and the service was great. Would recommend to anyone.

Played 9/6/2009 as a 4-some. This resort has 3 different 9's for 27 holes. We played the Wild Burro and Tortolita 9's. The Wild Burro is said to be designer Jack Nicklaus' favorite of the 9's, but it was not in play for the Match Play championships. It is the more scenic of the 18 holes we played. The Dove Mtn course is about 15 minutes from the freeway, north of Tucson. Very easy drive. There is a nice driving range, and a great putting green complete with bunker for warmup before your round. The fairways are wide, but shot placement is necessary because of the bunkering that's designed to catch misguided tee shots. I swear Nicklaus is a bit of a masochist because it seems as if all the fairway bunkers are 240Y out from the regular tees. There are a number of holes with split fairways, but for the most part, trouble in those areas is easily avoided. A yardage book is a necessity because the carts are non-GPS and there are some tee shots (semi-blind) where the driver should stay in the bag. The greens are large and undulated. Somewhat slow, but they'd have to be due to some of the undulation on them. The bunkers are the white fluffy sand that I equate to Florida courses, not the gravel that is most often called sand at most Tucson area courses. I really enjoyed the round, and look forward to playing the course again so I can get the Saguaro 9 played. Greens fees are a bit higher than most Tucson area courses, and although I wouldn't pay it every day . . it's well worth the trip out to Dove Mtn to play this course at least once . . and then it'll suck you in and you'll want to make the trip out to play it again . .and again . .
