Black Friday round, 8:26 AM, $65 rack rate. Overpriced, but the snowbirds will pay it so they get away with it. The round lasted just under 4 hours, so not too bad.

The course just came out of overseeding, 90* rule in effect. All aspects of the course are shaggy due to this, they should start mowing shortly. The greens, however, were very tight and very firm, no divot tool necessary. They had a light top dressing on them but still rolled well with medium speed and no bumps. The bunkers had lots of rocks in them, best to stay out.

They switched the 9s here at some point since I played last. I'm not a fan, as now the starting hole is one of the hardest holes on the course, and beginning your round with a potential big number is kind of a downer.

Service was great, with friendly personnel throughout. Beverage cart came by several times. I stick with my guns though, $65 is too much for this course. Will be back if I can find a deal.

Played my second round of the day on the Olde London course. The Nassau course is closed right now for summer maintenance. This one just reopened, so I was hoping that would mean good things condition-wise. Not really the case. The price was a reasonable $32.50 ($30 plus tax, booked through GN for a slight discount off $35 rack rate). Teed off on my own around 9:00 and had the place to myself. Saw some groups on the back, but never caught them and finished in around two hours. The lady in the pro shop was very nice and made sure I was following proper hydration procedures a la cpennbo. Luckily, the heat was barely an issue as strong winds off the water kept things tolerable. That would have been a different story if I played in the late afternoon. By then, the wind was gone and it was a stifling 115 degrees! The course is not in very good shape, other than the greens. The greens were pretty nice for mid-summer. Firm and relatively slow, but mostly smooth surfaces. It was hard to make a ball mark, so that helped with keeping them smooth on top. The fairways are very patchy with some really shaggy spots and a lot of bare spots. A ton of pigeons out there snacking on whatever seed they have put out. There really isn't any rough as the fairways just kind of blend unceremoniously into the dirt on the outer edges. Bunkers had decent sand and were consistent with how they played. A tad thin, but playable. I can cut the course some slack with it being the middle of summer. I wouldn't expect the conditions to be too great this time of year, but even at it's best I would assume this course is always a little rough around the edges. This is kind of a quirky old layout. The back nine, which is the "newer" part of the course added well after the original 9 holes, is a little nicer design than the front. The front has surrounding houses and streets feel uncomfortably close and there are a lot of narrow angles off the tees. And when there isn't a lot of definition on the fairways, it's kind of hard to get comfortable with your aiming points when you don't know the course.

Played 4/13 at 11:00 AM, $45 coupon including golf, cart and lunch. Course was pretty empty, finished in 4 hours as a twosome taking our time. All aspects of the course are currently in good condition, nothing at all to complain about. That being said, it was playing quite tricky, and, for want of a better word, links-y. The fairways and greens were very solid (not hard pan though), the greens did not hold shots at all, and even a towering short iron wouldn't leave a ball mark. This isn't a knock on the conditions though. The best way to play right now is to keep your ball low and anticipate the roll-out. Once you figure that out, it's not that tough to score. The greens did roll pretty consitently with medium-fast speed and true breaks. Everything was visually quite nice with plenty of green grass and barely any dormant areas. This is the longer and older of the two courses here, and has many interesting doglegs and elevation changes. A few wide open holes, and some holes where 3-wood or less is a better idea off the tee. I definitely enjoyed my round and will be back.

Played here the day after Turkey Day with the same guys from the day before, but on this course. Again, congrats on the condition of the course. This one is a little tougher than Nassau, but very enjoyable and fun to be able to play 2 different courses. Also, the same starter gave me sunrise special for $40 including lunch, wow, that was great. Can't wait to come back out and play.

Played Black Friday at 11:40, $44 pro shop special. Round lasted 4:20, way faster than I expected! Temperature was 45F, with 20+ mph north winds bringing wind chill down into the 30s...so I didn't play that hot (pun intended). Course conditions were pretty good overall. Tee boxes were mostly level and lush, maybe a bit too much so in places. Fairways were very lush with perfect 'mower lines' up and down, rough was dormant but very playable at about 2". Gave a great contrast to the fairways view-wise. Greens were pretty shaggy, grainy bermuda, they had not been cut or rolled that day (and probably the day before, etc.). It was difficult to read speed and break. Bunkers were hardpan, difficult to get out of. Beverage cart came by three times during the round. If for no other reason, play this course just to see the view from the #10 tee...it is an amazing panoramic view of Lake Havasu and the mountains beyond.

As stated before this is a fun well designed tight course. Very good shape right now...
