What a treat! Who would think such a beautiful course existed in Fresno? Sorry...not meant to be derogatory....but...I love this course.

Now...this course isn't too difficult or easy. Fairways were thin to perfect. Maybe in a few more hot weeks and the summer grass would be fully grown.

The layout is what stood out for me. Plenty of beautiful views! Well-placed lakes. Sloppy greens in certain areas.

All in all, what a treat to play. So what's the bad part?

Slow play!! Early in the morning, the older golfers..."walkers"...somehow never look back. They see us waiting on every shot....yet they rarely turn back. Since I was a guest, it was hard to hold back and not ask..."do you mind if we play through?" Thank goodness, one of the older guys had electric pull cart issues. That was my window to ask...do you mind? Thank goodness, they were polite enough to let us through. In other private courses I've played, they always look back and make sure they don't slow down others.

Once we passed them, we were able to breeze on by. Finished the round in 3.5 hrs.

Either way, if you ever get a chance to play this course, you'll be happy you did. Can't wait to come back again.

Copper River CC recently opened up their doors to guests so this was my first time back out here in almost two years. Course is a lot of fun to play. Mainly flat with some water hazards on a half dozen holes or so. Greens were in excellent shape. They rolled true at a perfect medium-fast pace. Greens are moderate sized with enough slope and undulation to keep things fun and challenging without being ridiculous or boring.

Tee boxes were flat level with good coverage throughout, including the short par 3. Bunkers had a good amount of fluffy sand. Fairways were decent, mainly lush, but did have some brown and thin spots here and there on almost all of the fairways.

Rough was absolutely penal. It was only about 3” deep but the ball frequently bedded down to the point I lost three balls in the rough knowing where they landed but couldn’t find them. When I did find my ball it was all I could do to get a club on it and advance it.

Carts had GPS to the middle of the green. The imported pine trees and other foliage are starting to mature and truly define the course.

The current downside is there is a ton of construction going on in the form of heavy equipment grading new roads and a dozen houses being built along the fairways. Point being, you will have some distractions out on the course right now.
