Played Eagle Springs twice in the past couple weeks (discounted rate). Course is in really good shape! Especially with the triple digits we have had out in the valley the past couple weeks. There are a few patches here and there of yellow dry grass, but overall, the course conditions are really good. Fairways are lush and pure! Greens are soft and hold shots well. Biggest thing with this course, there is a lot of greens that have a lot of undulations on them. Missing in the wrong spots can cost at least one extra shot. Biggest thing within this course is to keep it in the fairway! The rough can be tough to judge getting out, I had more shots come out dead than I did flyers but playing an extra club or two helped out at times. There are some great tee boxes that have serious elevation changes that give unreal views. Just in the summer and in the dry grass, watch for rattlesnakes! Overall, this is one of the best courses in Fresno, but its a pricey one for full price.

Overall- One of the top three courses in the area with public access.

Pace- After a tournament teed off at 230 carts were shut off at 6 with two holes to play.

Conditions- Greens were in average shape at best. 1st green was very poor and the rest showed signs of the tournament, certainly not the pristine condition normal for the course. The rest of the course was in very good shape.

Staff- Shut the carts off and politely (condescendingly) turned them back on so we could drive in, we had two 20+ handicaps playing a difficult course and it was one guy's birthday round another 15-20 mins wouldn't have been the end of times.

Value- $50 for twilight is on the high side for the area, $50 for 16 holes is straight up gangster.

Layout- The front nine has two holes that feel forced, 3 seems built around the homesites and 9 is wedged between a road and the cart barn and a creek. The back nine is the best nine holes in the valley design wise. Hands down. Simply magnificent!

Amenities- Everything you need.

This won't be one of my longer reviews, because my previous review on this course is fairly accurate to the course still.
We played a couple weekends ago, and was right after the Fresno area got over an inch of rain, and we got even more rain the morning of our round and rained a bit while we were playing. It was cart path only which served well because the fairways were like soaking wet sponges nearly the entire round. There was a lot of heavy wet spots in certain areas, mostly the flatter areas where the water from the elevation came to rest. But all in all this course is always in really good shape! Just outta the way and for $75 bucks, it isn't too high on my have to play courses around here.

This was my second round today. I called ahead and they put me into the 10:00 tee time, but it really wasn't too necessary. I teed off by myself around 9:45. There were some people out on the course, but groups seemed pretty spread out. I had to play through a few groups along the way, but otherwise a fantastic 2:45 pace. The prices are a bit steep here (relative to other area courses) and deals aren't easy to find, so I paid the $65 rack rate for a weekday morning round. The course was in very nice shape overall, playing even better than it looked. As David noted in the previous review, they don't skimp on water here so there are some soft/mushy spots all around. Still, the tee boxes were nice. The fairways had fantastic turf that I loved hitting from. The rough was not too much of a factor, but conditioned well and cut consistently throughout the course. There were some dapples of brown here and there in addition to some soft spots, but the surfaces all played great in my opinion. The rough had some dead spots, but was generally much more good than bad. The greens were receptive, but smooth and rolling pretty quick. The only real weakness here is the bunkers. They were inconsistent and ranged from just okay to terrible. As the area's "high end" course, they can do better with the sand. Overall, though, I absolutely loved this course. It's a Johnny Miller layout, so it's pretty tricked out in spots with similar design traits I've seen him use at courses like Maderas, Eagle Ridge and Whitney Oaks. All layouts I really like, by the way. There is such a fun mix of holes here and a few big changes in elevation. You won't get bored at Eagle Springs. That's for sure. The setting is gorgeous with the golden hills, native grasses, big oak trees and boulder outcroppings framing the course nicely. The routing is a bit funky on the front nine and the back nine is very far away from the clubhouse. It appears they switched the nines at some point, too. The routing, bunkers and price point are minor quibbles because I really liked just about everything else about this course!

Played Eagle Springs as the first venue on a weekend trip with my Sacramento golf buddy on a warm sunny Saturday morning, 10/31/15, at 11am. Course was fairly busy as we were paired with a local twosome who were very helpful in pointing out course features and play lines, as this was our first time here. However, we found later that we were behind a "club championship match", 2 golfers in separate carts who were some of the slowest players I've ever been behind - we frequently waited 10 minutes to hit shots as this 2some was grossly behind. POP wound up being 5 hours.

Found out after the round that the course was designed by Johnny Miller. Originally part of a high-end real estate development, the course fell on hard times a few years ago and was acquired by the Table Mountain Rancheria; the tribe put money into upgrading course conditions and it is in great shape. The course is located next to Millerton Reservoir and plays through several broad arroyos, with many forced carries and elevated greens. Many large homes line the front side; the back side is in the Rancheria and is very quiet and peaceful. Greens are fairly small, most have substantial slope, and they are lush, fairly soft, hold shots, and roll at medium fast speeds. Some of the greens are pretty wild - on holes 1, 15, and 18 there are areas on the fronts of the greens that can't be used for pin positions due to false fronts and slopes. The green on 18 borders on farce, with a false front, a 3-foot tier in the middle, and no stopping any ball putted from the back to the front of the green.

Overall the course is very lush and WET. Many fairway areas are soft and soggy, and rough areas are either lush and wet (and difficult to recover from) or, just beyond the primary playing areas, dry, thin, and hard. Some areas of the rough were getting way too much water, and carts and equipment had torn up the grass and left big ruts in the playing areas. Tees had been sanded recently but were level and very serviceable. I wasn't in the sand but playing partners looked like they got OK lies and conditions.

Many holes where you should not hit driver. Almost all holes had very narrow visual aspects off the tee and being on the correct side of the sloping fairways was important to get good lines into greens and avoid encroaching oak trees. Lots of staked hazards line many holes. Recommended, but bring your straight game!

This course is one of the better courses in the Fresno area. But it's out of the way. Off the 41 and about a 20 minute drive out past Friant. But the good news is you can do a little gambling across the street at Table Mountain Casino and play at a great course. Which the Casino actually bought.
This course is a course that you can never truly get comfortable at. Every shot is different than the one before. Practically every hole has some sort of elevation change. Starting with the first hole, which is an up hill dog leg left to an elevated green that if you miss on the wrong side of the pin, expect a easy 3 put. Speaking of the greens, when we played them they were some of the slower greens I have played, but they did punch them at the end of March, but are in great shape when we played last weekend. I really enjoy this course a lot, because all the different types of shots you must hit. One of the better holes has to be the drivable Par 4 10th. This hole plays from a high elevated tee and is a dog leg right with two big Oak Trees protecting the green, I typically take 3w and take aim at the left Oak and play a cut into the green, been green side numerous of times. But I have taken driver and been on the back of the green a few times. These elevated tee boxes can be tricky especially when playing in the wind. Knowing what the wind is doing is vital playing at this course, because with all the changes in elevation clubbing up or down you have to have your ducks in a row. For the price this course is great! Carts come with GPS, so you always know distances, and the course is in great shape. But if you tend to spray your ball left and right, bring a lot of golf balls, because you are bond to lose plenty. Last piece of advice for this course, make sure you know where the pin is, and which tier it is on, because if you are above the whole on some of these two to three tier greens, a big number can come your way quickly.

This is my favorite public course in the Valley. The elevated tee boxes are enjoyable, and the multi-tiered greens are quite the challenge. Pace of play can be slow on a weekend morning, but the atmosphere and conditions make Eagle Springs a great place to play. The restaurant serves some really good grub, too!
