Played Ocean Course on 12/14/2024. Course undergoing a number of changes - temporary parking lot was a long way from small clubhouse near 1st tee and range - minimal services available. Course was in very good shape except for a couple of par 3 teeing areas (which unfortunately were on signature holes 5 and 14). The course played quite long from the white tees (6600+ yards) and as a senior player found myself hitting a lot of hybrids to a good number of greens in what seemed to be mild wind conditions (by Hawaii standards). Overall felt that the $315 was a bit expensive for a course without a proper restaurant and a complicated parking situation even with the pair of spectacular oceanfront holes 14 and 16

All in all, a spectacular day. Wind was not terrible at any point, even though I played in the afternoon.

Checkin was easy. Pro shop staff was very nice. Got me out to the starter booth without much fanfare. Cart girl came around twice. Snack shop staff was great!

Starter was really fun. Really good guy that i could talk to for hours. He got me going to the range (which is a bit of a trek to get to). Starter came and let me know that a group of slower players were going out and got me going ahead of them.

Range was a nice grass range. Callaway range balls were good enough.

Teed off 10 min prior to my tee time. First few holes were standard fare for resort courses. Latter half of front nine got interesting- carries over jungle were fun.

Back 9 was really great, though. Started off playing along airport runway (less noisy than I expected). A few holes in, you get to the ocean holes and they were spectacular! 4 holes along the ocean. 13 plays to the ocean with 14-16 playing with ocean on left side. There was construction on the side of 15 which did interfere with one shot, but was not a huge deal. The green on 16 is on a peninsula and was one of the most interesting holes i have ever played. 16 made the entire round worthwhile.

17-18 played with a lake in play and were good in their own right.

Conditions were really good. Tee boxes were all perfectly level. Fairways were great with no bare areas. Rough was thick but not brutal. Greens were near perfect. Only drawback was the bunkers, which had sand but sand was hardpan underneath the layer of fluffy sand.

All in all a phenomenal experience and very worth the cost for a vacation round. Having played on all of the main islands of Hawaii, it is not as good as mauna lani or kapalua, but it was close.

100% would recommend if you are on Kauai!

This was a challenging round...sun, wind and rain! light steady rain for the last 6 or 7 holes. in addition to the elements, there were a number of tough holes on the course. I enjoyed the layout here and would love to play here again. without getting soaked!

Played today, the final round of the Kauai Challenge. This is a great, fun resort course. It's
got some outstanding picturesque holes. Today, the wind was really tame so, I can't complain, I had one of my better rounds. Unfortunately, the greens on the front side have
some fungus going on and they were a little bumpy. The back side greens were in better shape. I'll mention that the staff here is also very accommodating. If you get a chance to visit
this island, you won't have a better golf experience, and if the price is too steep, this island
also have a couple very nice local courses.

Played on vacation on 6/16/13. We stayed at the Marriott so this course is very convenient and we got a bit of a price break. I really liked the track, we played an inland track and another 9 that had 3 or 4 holes directly along the ocean cliffs. Course was in good condition and the trade winds made it difficult. I would recommend this track while on a trip to Kauai.
