Played last week on a perfect day. Drove up from the bay area, teed off at 3ish and had the entire course to myself. Never played up here this time of year so not sure what kind of shape the course is usually in but it is in very playable shape. Greens were very spongy but rolled true at medium fast speed.
Good roll in the fairways and I don't remember ever having a bad lie, but I saw a few out there. Signature 14th hole fairway was being worked on as were the tee boxes on 15. Other than that decent shape all around. The bunkers were playable except it looks like for maintenance reasons they are letting a bunch of the bigger ones grass over as ground under repair. It's a shame because these looked like good strategic bunkers, such as a cross bunker on a par five.
The course is very high on the wow factor, I loved it. I hate target golf, but this seemed a little more forgiving and most of the elevation change was of the downhill variety.The course feels like it was cut into the side of a small mountain with nice views all around. I played well but I could see this course have a love it or hate it split. I think it's a must play at least once and am curious what others think. I had an absolute blast.

This Golf Course is just south of Carson City. I have played it three times, In 2001, 2008, and lastly 8/3/2014. It is a very tricky and neat course. The maintenance is abysmal at best. They did have a major thunder storm/flash flood in early July. One hole (14) was closed but they have a 19th par 3 hole to use in just such cases (also used as a playoff hole) The last two times I played I had to push my cart up a steep hill as they never make it 18 holes. The bunkers had not only NOT BEEN RAKED, but some had weeds 2 to 3 feet tall growing. This was on a Sunday and our group of 10 players did not see One(1) maintenance crew person. The only water available to drink is via two vending machines (one was out of order). The first time I played this course I loved it, the last two times I am generous giving it 1/2 star. I would NOT recommend this course to anyone (well maybe my worst enemy) Course looks as if it is in receivership.

Played here 7/17 for $10 through GolfNow via Golflogix. I only played 13 holes after being chased off by lightening. However, what I did play, I enjoyed the heck out of. This course has been bought out by a local casino and is on it's way back from being neglected. It's on the mend and should be back in great shape by next spring if they keep up with the renovations. This is a fun course to play. I like playing every club in my bag which is what you will do here.
Like I said, this course is under renovation so, everything needs some work. The wide range of hole layouts and difficulty make this fun and challenging. Can't wait to play here again.

I played this course in 2011 it was in better shape then. It severely lacked water which created dry fairways. However, I will play this again as it is fun. Has interesting holes with super elevated tee boxes. Fun to watch your ball sail downhill! Good size landing areas with water on ten holes.
