Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii! This Golf Course is just south of Carson City. I have played it three times, In 2001, 2008, and lastly 8/3/2014. It is a very tricky and neat course. The maintenance is abysmal at best. They did have a major thunder storm/flash flood in early July. One hole (14) was closed but they have a 19th par 3 hole to use in just such cases (also used as a playoff hole) The last two times I played I had to push my cart up a steep hill as they never make it 18 holes. The bunkers had not only NOT BEEN RAKED, but some had weeds 2 to 3 feet tall growing. This was on a Sunday and our group of 10 players did not see One(1) maintenance crew person. The only water available to drink is via two vending machines (one was out of order). The first time I played this course I loved it, the last two times I am generous giving it 1/2 star. I would NOT recommend this course to anyone (well maybe my worst enemy) Course looks as if it is in receivership.

This is our only local course. It has always been just a shade pricy. The entire course is always in good condition. The only negative for this course is it has the WORST bunkers in the area. The onging joke is if you need road gravel you can always get a truckload out of the bunkers at Castle Oaks. The people who work on the course and do all they can to improve it. If you play this course you will be happy as it is fun, chalenging, and it makes you think. But stay out of the sand.
Great course, the sand traps are the only problem at this course, They contain a huge quantity of rocks. This has been a problem with this course for years. The only complaint I have ever heard from other players is the sand traps. The course drains well in inclement weather and it is always in good shape otherwise.
My home course, This course is over 15 miles from my home, but I find it always worth the drive, The course is usually in great shape, With rain it does have a few and I do mean few drainage problems. The staff is friendly and the finishing hole is a par 3 that is quite a challange. The men's club is the best run in the area. Play it and you will be rewarded with a good day of golf.
I play this often, last played 10/30/08, The course is always in very good shape, the only problem this course has is the sand traps, losts of rocks and little sand. I would still give is 4 out of 5 stars.
