Played 7/20/22 2pm $90 GN Hot deal. A challenging and fun mountain course. Narrow fairways with trees and tall grass lining sides. I lost a lot of balls by missing a little too mutch and found the tall grass. Nice layout with some fun hole designs. Fairways were in great shape. Lush but with not a lot of roll. Rough thick. Greens had been replaced a couple years ago and were firm with Good roll. They looked fast, but were medium at best. Many of the greens had some bad fungus patches, but mostly caused no issues. One of the better values in the area if you can find a deal. Truckee golf can be pricey.

Played 7/21/19 Course is still trying to recover from the winter. I had not played here in 30 years. Layout is fun with a good mix of holes. Fairways were in decent shape with good coverage. Many bare areas mixed throughout. Greens were very bad. Some had maybe 70% Coverage All were very bumpy with dead or sick areas covering entire green. No way to take putting serious under current conditions. Still two temporary greens which is down from the 5 they recently had. If you can find a good deal, you can have fun. It's a beautiful course, but I fear the greens will not be in decent shape for a couple of months and maybe not at all this year.

Took a side trip to Truckee for the final day of my 1K adventure. You'll see why in my next review. The morning warm-up round was at Tahoe Donner. I was able to line up a media rate thanks to my blog, so it was well worth it at $65 instead of the normal in-season $100+ rack rates here and everywhere else in town. We teed off at 7:30 as a twosome (third group out), but played through the 2 foursomes ahead. We had the back nine to ourselves. We weren't in any huge rush, but even "slow playing" we were done in about 3 hours.

The course is in nice summer condition. It is very lush and green throughout here. Tee boxes good. Fairways very good for the most part. A few weak spots here and there, along with a number of roped off GUR areas where they have laid down new sod. Rough lush, but generally not too penal. Greens very soft and receptive, rolling at medium speeds. Speed really varies here whether you are above or below the hole. Uphill putts pretty slow while downhill putts could be fairly slick. I wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked to be very well maintained.

This is a very enjoyable and pleasant overall layout. It doesn't feature any huge changes in elevation (except maybe the drive on 18), but it rolls up and down through the trees with a beautiful mountain golf setting. Very scenic as one would expect in Truckee. Layout mostly right out in front of you and not overly challenging (perhaps depending on what tees you play). Still with plenty of character. It doesn't get the notoriety as some other Tahoe courses get, but it's a solid course that I would easily recommend to most.

Played this course for the first time two weeks ago. It is one of the best courses I've ever played. The condition is absolutely magnificent. Tee boxes are great, fairways are smooth, greens are well groomed, and the sand bunkers are well maintained. We played at 1:00 pm and the temperature was in the high 60S with a gentle breeze. Fairways are narrow and mostly uphill. The number 1 hole is tough to make par for average players. Number 18 is quite challenging since there is a tall tree in the middle of the fairway. You have to bypass the tree and let the ball roll down a severe hill. Then your next shot is downhill if you don't land it on a level ground. A bogey is a good score for this hole.
You will also enjoy the natural scenery with tall pine trees surrounding the fairways. The views are nice and the air is so fresh. It is the course you must play. Play the markers according to your skill levels and you will have a great time. Look for good deals online.
