Well after many years of waiting, I finally got to play here today. POP no issue as first off and I felt like I was in church, it was so quite. Saw no one on the course until I came off # 14. The course is located on Hwy 299 and is one hour from Redding and one hour from Mt Shasta. But well worth your time to play a beautiful golf course. Even Bing Crosby had a hand in getting this course started with the locals as he had a ranch in the valley in the 50's'60's. Course sets in a spectacular valley with views of the mountains all around. Each hole is unique and holes are not parallel to each other. No homes on the course, except for 3 along # 11 but set well off from the course. Like playing in a park in the forest. From the tips it is 7402 with two 600 yard Par 5's (# 3 @ 672 and # 14 @ 616). Yes you are at 3000 feet, but those are some long holes. From the blues 6997 and 6557 from white. The condition of the course is just outstanding. Customer service is top drawer at all levels. Surrounded by large pines and oaks, the course appears narrow, but that look is deceptive because the trees are so large. And GREEN. No water shortage here. Fairways lush and providing roll and great lies. Rough tall and unforgiving. Tee boxes are clean and level and tee friendly. Bunkers clean, raked and good sand. Now for the greens. They looked like they had just opened the place. Large, flat for the most part but w/o divot mark damage or any non repaired divots. Thats right. For the first time in my golfing life I found greens that were BEAUTIFUL. Believe it or not, there is such a golf course with greens like we all dream off. Dew on the greens when I first started but did not hamper putting. Later in the round after drying out they were even better and just wonderful to putt on. Wonderful Par 3's with water on 3 of them (and yes - it is in play). I am so happy to finally have played here and encourage anyone coming through the area, to find time to play here. You will not be disappointed. If one was looking for a place to retire and have a wonderful golf course to play every day, this is it. Not to mention that it has great fishing in the area as well. Very highly recommended to all golfers of all levels
