played 8/20am, chard/zin. fog in the am, which was unusual. they verticut the greens ~1 wk ago, and they were still showing scars, rolling slow and bumpy compared to usual. nothing egregious, but just not up to the usual quality here. (the practice green across the street from the clubhouse wasn't aerated, so a bit deceiving). i would think they will get better pretty quickly. rest of course was fine, except it seems the bunkers are always overwatered here. they may dry out by afternoon, but in the mornings they are like wet concrete. best to avoid them i guess!

Played here last Monday! The wind was blowing pretty good as it usually does here but the temp was about 89 degrees so it was pretty nice overall. The golf course was in excellent condition the fairways where firm and allowed a fair roll and the greens where semi-firm they held pretty good. Played Zin and Merlot and by the afternoon Merlot grew teeth. This course doesn't get a lot of outside play because people don't like playing in the wind but I feel that it really helps improve my game. I linked up with another single and we completed the round in less than 4 hours. By the way they also have a great practice area.

Played last Wednesday 5/26. Just a fair amount of wind about normal for here. THe course is gatting very good. We played Zin/Merlot both nines are in very good condition with the greens starting to get firm almost back to normal (about 9.5 to 10) and pretty smooth. The fairways are always very good here with no bare spots and very little divot damage. The only thing that could still improve are the bunckers, the sand is a little hard and crusty. We had a foursome and were able to gat around in about 4 hours. THe staff here is always friendly and accomodating. It's well worth the $55 if you're a NCGA member.

Tuesday 18 May - First timer; played Merlot/Chardonnay at noon tee time, only 2 of us on a slow day. 3.5 hour round with no dramas. cow2215 below is right, the greens are perfect, in fact, the entire course presents beautifully with lush conditions (ok, recent rain) throughout from tee to green. Sand was a little damp in low areas, and some holes carts on paths due draining still. Navigation is easy as course is well signed; good cart GPS.
Fairways running marginally, primary rough perfect and easy to hit from, but if you stray even a little, good luck!!! The long stuff is impossible, which makes the course a challenge. You get an impression from the design that you can rip it, but you must be accurate. Reception at pro shop excellent, starter/marshaler pleasant, F&B very good. No drinks cart today but plenty of water/rest stations. Excellent all grass prac-fac with separate pitching area and bunkers. Plenty of room for putting practice/warm up. Did view some holes on Zinfandel and they looked as interesting as the ones we played. A good facility; a great challenge. golfnow.com 'hot deal' $51 riding.

played 4/6 815am. got an 830 time via golfnow, but came to find i was double booked. so shop sent me and my buddy out early (alas, the classic run to the first tee and rip it into the deep right rough on chard 1). conditions were ok, it rained quite a bit previous 2 days and there were some soggy spots in the fairways, and most bunkers were like wet concrete. bleaah. greens were receptive, but a bit bumpy. overheard the shop saying that they have healed up decently (punched about 6 wks ago), but it's a bit puzzling why they are still so bumpy/slow, they need a good rolling.
but great value - golfnow times are $62 weekday, $55 for ncga members, plus the $5 coupon good towards replay, food, etc. fit in 27 holes today for $70 total. can't beat that...

Played yesterday 3/29. It was a very challanging day as the wind was blowing north northwest which is the storm direction and opposit of the normal direction. The wind speed was about 10 to 12 gusting to about 20. The greens still haven't healed up and where bumpy and very slow. I never could make the adjustment for the speed, this cost me at least 4 birdies. The other thing I don't quite understand is how some of the Tee boxes got so unlevel. Other than that the course was in very good condition.

Played here twice in the last two weeks. The course is comming back very nicely. The greens are still a bit bumpy and healing upfrom the aireation. The fairways are in excellent condition specially since they are limiting cars on some of them. The only issue as I see it are a couple of the teeing grounds on the Merlow course that are not level when playing the blue tees. All in all I think this course is in very good condition considering the wet winter we have had.

Played here last Thursday 2/11. Tee'd off at about 9:20 the conditions were ok about 50 degrees with scattered clouds. Played Merlot/Zinfandel. Found all fairways to be very wet and soft, tee shots would roll only inches if at all. Also found that there was severe divot damage to most fairways and players were not relacing divots or sanding them. due to those conditions the courses played very long. There was no wind on the Merlot, but it did come up about two holes in to Zinfandel which made it even more difficult. My biggest disappointment came when I got in the bunkers, there were very large 1/2" to 1" rocks in both of them! This is one of my very favorite courses but it needs some time to dry out with less play imo. I will wait at least one maybe two weeks before trying it again.
