5/10/19 early afternoon round. Great deal $8 to walk found on-line. Rack rate $16. Overall course is in good to better shape. It is a challenging 9-holer with all skills needed to master this foothill track. In a valley and plenty of shade with the large valley oaks and redwoods. Greens medium to slower speed wise fully healed from aeriation. Ready for the summer.

Got around in two hours POP is usually ok as it was today. Simple functional facility great staff and three Buds for $10.50 (1 each for 3-some) doesn't break the budget and was refreshing on this sunny afternoon.

Recommend.

Black Oak is in decent shape... nice and green. Sand is fine, greens are ok, not as good as they often are, but they'll be punching next week, so they should shape up soon.

By far the best 9 hole course in the area. It is like an 18 hole course cut in half. One of the par fives is reachable in two, the other is very difficult to hit in two. Some of the par fours are reachable in one, but they punish an errant shot if you go for it and miss. The maintenance crew does an admirable job of keeping this low budget course in respectable shape. A few of the tee boxes need leveling, but other than that there isn't much to complain about.

The greens are nice... though soft and pretty slow. Everything else is getting pretty chopped up. The fairways and rough are shaggy. Pretty slow on Sunday afternoon... but I guess that's to be expecte... Continue »

Still though, you can't beat the price or the fun layout.

Wet, wet, wet. Well, it has been raining for a week. The greens were mighty slow (I stopped a chip from the top tier to the bottom pin on number 5 right next to the hole... an impossibility on most days), and there were quite a few soggy spots. Not too bad though considering.

Played with a nice group of guys... good fun.

Escaping the cold and snow makes Black Oak even more enjoyable.
