3/17 St. Paddy's play. Early sun up 9 holes then returned for the 2nd loop at 2:30pm by then enjoying a green beer from the snack bar.
Overall general conditions are good for the price point. The bunkers are a bit dark and damp. Hard to define where the fairway to the rough transition is in most spots. I played the ball down and was ok 95% of the time getting what I deserved for a lie.
The greens rolling very nicely on the faster side, both freshly mowed and later in the day. Probably close to the best they get here and it was fun. I made my share so that helped.
As good condition right now to other courses at higher fees. Downhill putts needed touch. The putting surfaces are what will keep me coming back regularly as the warmer spring sun should get the rest of course growing in and dry out the wet areas.
Three holes CPO 2, 5, & long par 3 7th ; I usually walk.
Weather was sunny and mild so a great time had by all.

Back to the roots of the game and my memories. Played first out Sunday with a 6:10 tee time.
A light drizzle began to fall as we ate our breakfast burrito at the picnic tables (brought with us) under the oak trees near the #1 tee. Tee'd off on time but could not see the ball flight. Like we used to do in N.E. dew sweeping dawn patrol. Play by feel until the dawns early light. Found it in the fairway and made par to start. This week the tee times start at 6:30!
Greens are the highlight here. Enjoy the solitude of out early. We were passed by a single who said he likes running and speed golf on #2 fairway.
Overall no frills and fits the fees at $17 walking.
I call it coming back to my people after volunteering at Martis Camp Sr. Amateur last week. A course I will enjoy as a treat on volunteer day in October for sure.
My go to course to walk and work out my swing for more distance. Lag in process.
Great ownership now, they are working on the little details all the time to bring this course back into shape.

Quick update. It's all systems go at the regulation 9 hole course. Greens are rolling nice. As good or better than courses of double the green fee in the area. Rest of the course in good shape and cleaned up from a couple weeks ago. Bunkers have been machined worked and have too much sand in bottom for my one time visit.
Delayed on the 8th tee by a shotgun tournament (we were first tee time of the day) no one behind us so we putted extra and waited for them to clear. Still under 1 3/4 hr POP
Ownership and staff doing good things here.
The tourney put a target in the 8th fairway. I hit to 20 ft from about 200 yards marked my spot and signed off as "me". It's just fun!

Most noticeable through the green was the areas you don't want to be and shouldn't for the average player a little shaggy taller than normal grass. And the course is wet. Seems a controlled or not irrigation of almost too much water in areas. . Many drainage areas damp and or muddy as well as a few tee boxes. It was hot last week. Cooler this week. Formula to grow green grass the layman thinketh. See how this theory works out next week. We showed up late for our time. (third guy long distance) and were accommodated behind the periwinkle Sr. group. That was ok pace for our group of three FUN! 2.25 POP

The 9 holer is playing ok. Overall good conditions getting better. Had been rained out of two tee times here in the last two weeks. The greens slower and bumpy due to the aeration. Fairways are not in play it down conditions but good coverage. Bunkers had water in some most raked and machine worked when possible.
When the greens are "normal" they make the round more fun.
Good vibe here and close enough to home makes it a go to course when 9 holes i$ the agenda.
$16 to walk fits. $5 draft pints. the snack bar can be accessed after the 3rd hole. Signature 4th hole is par 3 downhill over the pond.

Played 8/12 mid-day fairly busy 9 holes just over two hours. Slower pace than I prefer. Still $16 to walk same value as two years ago. Not many courses have done this!

Played 8/12 mid-day fairly busy 9 holes just over two hours. Slower pace than I prefer. Still $16 to walk same value as two years ago. Not many courses have done this!
Couple areas of GUR on or around greens. The super did this intentionally to repair another spot. Healing nicely and has his full attention. Rest of putting surfaces nice. Fairways a bit dry and firm good roll out rough pretty much cut down most areas. Tee boxes good. Bunkers ok.
Had a bogey string going until the tough par 3 7th into the wind where we spoke to the greenskeeper.
Beer was cold sky was cloudless. Oddly mid-day the practice range and green left of first hole was deserted.
Nice walk on MGF; mandatory golf Friday.

Played 9 holes 11/19 afternoon under mild fall conditions. For a $16 dollar to walk & $8.50 for a can of bud and IPA draft a pleasant stroll in the foothills.

Played 9 holes 11/19 afternoon under mild fall conditions. For a $16 dollar to walk & $8.50 for a can of bud and IPA draft a pleasant stroll in the foothills.
Greens rolled well showing the evidence of aeration holes darker than surrounding areas. Otherwise smooth medium pace. Should be completely healed soon. Many other parts of the course are reseeded including many tee boxes and teeing areas moved to front tees. Bunkers ok a few muddy from recent 1"+ rain day(s) prior.
Covid protocols and extra $5 if you want your own cart. Good time and didn't lose a ball. a few pars including #2 uphill par 4.

Played early afternoon 3/2/20. Highly acclaimed 9 hole course just off I80 in Auburn on the way to Tahoe from Sacramento. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday rain suit today shorts 73 degrees. $14 to walk with a pull cart and very easy to walk.
Course is said to be one of the toughest 9 holers in NorCal. I would say it's a fair test and a good course that knows what it is and is excellent at it's function.
Greens are good to great shape now and always are when I've played here. Simple clubhouse pro shop snack bar and good fair beverage pricing. Small driving range and practice green to left of first hole.
Fairways good for the time of year. Bunkers well kept. Rough short and escape possible.
A fun track that usually can be played quickly. This day we followed a foursome who where a bit slow but with no where to go but home we stayed behind them and enjoyed the day just as well as going through with a rush.

5/10/19 early afternoon round. Great deal $8 to walk found on-line. Rack rate $16. Overall course is in good to better shape. It is a challenging 9-holer with all skills needed to master this foothill track. In a valley and plenty of shade with the large valley oaks and redwoods. Greens medium to slower speed wise fully healed from aeriation. Ready for the summer.

Got around in two hours POP is usually ok as it was today. Simple functional facility great staff and three Buds for $10.50 (1 each for 3-some) doesn't break the budget and was refreshing on this sunny afternoon.

Recommend.
