Empire Ranch is a nice golf course located within the neighborhood of Folsom. The course is in great shape and offers a fair layout for all skill levels. I was playing this course for the first time and there are some blind dog legs that cause trouble if you don't know how far to it the tee shot. Otherwise, the course is pretty easy with little trouble off of the tees. The greens vary in size with #10 being massive. #18 is a cool finishing hole as a 200-yard par 3 with over a 100' of elevation change.

The course is in great shape. Even after a couple of days of rain, the course plays great. Greens have not been punched as of this date.

Played 5/10/09 and course was in excellent shape. Recently moved to the area and was expecting an average course. I was pleasantly surprised. This course exceeded my expectations. It is a good course for scoring low as the fairways are pretty generous. It is a pretty hilly course with a good variety of holes. Living in the area this will be the course i will be playing the most so i am very pleased and happy with the design and layout. Solid Course!!!!!

My home course, This course is over 15 miles from my home, but I find it always worth the drive, The course is usually in great shape, With rain it does have a few and I do mean few drainage problems. The staff is friendly and the finishing hole is a par 3 that is quite a challange. The men's club is the best run in the area. Play it and you will be rewarded with a good day of golf.

I played from the White tees w/ 2 senior locals (nice guys) at 7am on weekday, so the course was a bit short for my taste. Pace of play was a tad slow, surprisingly. Seems like locals like to pack in early rounds. Staff was efficient and genial, in less than 5min, I went from walking in clubhouse to teeing off on #1. Layout is fun, not too challenging. A few blind shots here and there, ie, 1st tee, driver will hit it over a fairway hill and stop 50yds short of green on uneven lie so use your 5wood instead to layup on flat part of that hill instead.

Greens, fairways, teeboxes are 8/10. Sand traps are 4/10, very thin layer of sand w/ hardpan just underneath, wet and inconsistent.

Fun place to knock out the rust in your game, wide open and relatively short. Conditions good.

Just moved here from the O.C. Course was in good shape for time of year, greens a bit bumpy but overall in great shape. Hoped for more of a challenge, very wide landing areas off the tee but interesting approaches. Par 3s' are for the most part boring despite 18th long finish hole.

Nice course! Wetlands come into play on numerous holes requiring more precise shot making. Some narrow fairways that are in great condition. Greens were decent size and rolled smoothly. Play was slow (5+ hrs) for 12:45 WD teetime.

The tee boxes and fairways are very good...lush, even, but the greens are still on their way back from punching. Sand was used to fill the plugs and it hasn't all settled yet nor has the green grown ... Continue »

The tee boxes and fairways are very good...lush, even, but the greens are still on their way back from punching. Sand was used to fill the plugs and it hasn't all settled yet nor has the green grown back completely. Greens seemed very dry and often would not hold an approach shot. Pace of play was very good with no holdups anywhere today. Friendly employees and the cart girls were always around. A very interestingly designed course, but when the greens are all the way back, and the fairways are as they were today, it will be a better course to play.

Good course. Pretty wide open. Shot placement always reaps rewards.
