Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii! From the time you walk in the front door until the time you leave this course. It is awesome. Conditions and the layout are both top notch. The drive is a little long but is very much worth it. In my opinion this is the nicest course in the Sacramento area.

Played here last week on a family vacation. Got on for the twilight rate of 45 and the guy in the pro shop said the normal rate for this course was 115 dollars. This course was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I just wrote a review about Dark Horse and how the conditions have taken a drastic turn for the worse. This course is has serious issues with the conditions. For them to charge over 100 dollars to play this course is unreal. This is a 25 dollar course right now. I have read positive reviews about this course in the past and maybe at one time it was a solid track. Not anymore!!!!!!

Played the course a year ago and liked it very much. Went back January 2010 and it was like a different course. The greens and fairways were in horrible shape. They let like 5 groups out at the same time. 20 Minute wait on every tee. Had to leave after the 13th hole because I couldn't take it anymore. I hope they can straighten out whatever issues they are having with the course conditioning because when the conditions are good it is a very solid track. Won't be returning until then though.
Great course. I have played it on 3 different occasions and was in good condition each time. Some of the greens have serious undulations. Really solid lay out. One of the better courses in the area. If you are in the Auburn area also try Darkhorse and Winchester. Winchester is semi private with tee times available on golfnow.com. In my opinion it is the best course in the Sacramento area, incredibly scenic. With Morgan Creek being 2nd and Darkhorse 3rd.
Played on 3/19/2010. Got on for 20 dollars with golfnow.com. First time playing Castle Oaks and thought is was a nice course. Liked the back nine better than the front. Conditions were good. I was not crazy about the sand used in there bunkers as previous posters have mentioned. All in all it is a solid track with nice scenery and a good variety in the holes. For the price I paid it was a steal. Would definitely return.
Expected a nicer course from all the good reviews. Holes #3, #10, and #18 are nice but the rest of the course is average. The fact there are no homes on the course is a plus but expected a nicer layout. I'm glad I played it but don't think I will be playing there again anytime soon.
played 8/9/08. Was the 1st course I played in the area after moving from the east coast. My feelings on the course is it did not live up to all the hype I have read in other reviews. Don't get me wrong it does have some scenic holes but I thought the conditions were sub par. Not as nice as some other courses in the area.
Played 5/24/09. One of the best courses there is as far as the design and natural beauty goes. The layout of this course is amazing. Just about every hole is memorable. Has some great short risk/reward par 4's. I have played many courses in the south carolina area where there are many great courses and this ranks right up there with the best of those. Conditions were good but not great. That is the only complaint I would have about this awesome course. For the price there is not a better course anywhere that I know about.
Played 5/10/09 and course was in excellent shape. Recently moved to the area and was expecting an average course. I was pleasantly surprised. This course exceeded my expectations. It is a good course for scoring low as the fairways are pretty generous. It is a pretty hilly course with a good variety of holes. Living in the area this will be the course i will be playing the most so i am very pleased and happy with the design and layout. Solid Course!!!!!
Played here 8/17/09 for the first time and have to say it is a very nice course. Bring your A game off the tees or you will be in for a long day. Has alot of very scenic and unique holes. Really narrow fairways that will test even the most skilled golfers. I think playing it again i will enjoy it even more as there are quite a few holes that have blind shots. Overall it is a great course, one of the best I have played in the area. This and also Darkhorse being the 2 best.
