After a six year hiatus from playing the south course I looked forward to returning.
On a day that threatened rain but turned out cloudy with filtered dun at times mid 50's
Second event of the NCGA Senior Series tour a handicapped year long points battle for old timer golf supremacy in NorCal held at various courses and different scoring formats. This one a shotgun start Individual Net Max.score.

Course overall is in good shape and consistent with other reviews over the years. Mine were from 2019 & '18 and the others hence for the most part could be repeated now. Kudos to the grounds crew.
Greens were good firm and even high wedge shots left only dime spot marks and rolled out. A low pitch or chip with spin (not me) would check on the second bounce most times. The collars and approaches firm enough for my game close to the ground using the contours.
Great shape and color contrasts to the fridges and rough areas pleasing to the eye.

Fairways cut tight and the contrast dark one way light the other got high rating marks.
Rough beside fairways and beyond thick and penal. A few ball searches required. One loss.
Bunkers light white sand private club / pro level quality and where I should have practiced prior. Would have possibly helped the score. The ones I faced were deep in futile attempts to escape.

A tee box renovation project is in it's final stages.
For play this day were provided a modified yardage sheet for 6 holes unique to our day and a note to enjoy it, and the complimentary infamous burger dog and fountain soda provided at the snack shack.

Back 9 ; all shortened holes with 5 teeing off mats (octagon 3.5 foot grass with no base)
not stable and my lefty partners ball would wiggle on the tee in his back swing. NOT ideal!
Front 9 ; 4 shortened holes and only one off the mat.
Off the mat = on newly laid nice sod in the middle of the most forward flat tee box.

With the North course adjacent I think a better solution would have been to incorporate one of those 9's into the tournament play. There was also noisy tree maintenance on a large oak going on by outside contractor on the second hole. not my parade and no complaints. But why my rating was so low in this important area.
