I had never played this course before and had always seen posts from other GKers so we decided to give it a try this weekend. We had a 10:07 tee time and didn't tee off until 11:10. I can't begin to elaborate on what poor management this course has and they just keep packing golfers (5somes) with no concern about how late they are running on their tee times. Anyhow the course conditions were mediocre with lots of bare spots on the fairways and the bumpiest greens I've putted on in a long time. First and last time that I ever play there.....plus it took us almost 6 hours to play making it a 7 hour day out there with our nice delay. The starters are very nice, but they just can't pack people there, but then again it all comes down to the bottom line these days!

Played 7/3 twilight. WHAT A MISTAKE. Waited on every hole. On the tee box at least 2 groups stacked and waiting. The desk got us out quick enough but starter told me they had over 300+ players and it was only 3pm. Starter said they were busy and it showed. Hole 1 Green is still aerated AGAIN, this time with 1" holes. When it heals it should be pretty quick. Greens for the holes we played, we stopped after 6 holes, 3 hours later, were in good shape. A little too bouncy but a firm put would work. Fairways are green. Rough is cut low. Sand in bunkers are hard packed. Really the worst time to get out.

I played today (6.27.09) at 3pm and finished with the sprinklers on. Since they like 5-somes they added 2 more guys that took literally 2-3 minutes to take a shot. No exaggeration. 6 hours later we finished. Course looked bad, sounded bad and played bad. I couldn't recommend it.

Played there last week. Green 1 is areated. Rest of greens not. Played twilight and only manged to finish 14 holes before walking in, had an appointment at 6:30pm so left the foursome of kids in front of us (they were slow). Pace was pretty good on front but ground to a halt on back. Greens are bumpy and patchy. Got so bad that lost all confidence in putting b/c you couldn't figure out how the ball would roll as it got closer to the hole. Greens are receptive though so you could be agressive with approach shots.

Played here Friday 6/12 for a twilight round. Tee'd off after 4 and finished all 18 walking. Had a great time, greens were nice, sanded in a few spots. Tee boxes could use some improvement in being mo... Continue »

Played here Friday 6/12 for a twilight round. Tee'd off after 4 and finished all 18 walking. Had a great time, greens were nice, sanded in a few spots. Tee boxes could use some improvement in being more level. I think having divot mix on the boxes would help with some of the marks left behind. Fairways were in decent shape, although bare in some spots- looks to be cart use related. Staff is very friendly and course is in overall very good shape-very green, with the occasional bare spots here and there. Playing wise, it's a pretty short course, if you're a long driver, 280+ you have 9 iron in on most holes. Makes it fun to be putting for birdie on most holes.

Slow course, due to many 5 somes probably with lots of walkers. I enjoyed myself but won't drive out of my way to play here again.

Ever wonder how to turn a 119 slope course into a monster? Make the greens super fast. Greens on this course are almost as fast as Long Beach courses or even Los Verdes for that matter. Only problem, they are also a bit bouncy. With the amount of play, it's understandable but it gets comical after a while. It's an effort just to get the ball close. Expect the ball to bounce on its way to the hole, stay below the hole on approach shots and you should do OK.

Played twilight today and finished front 9 in a little over 2 hours. Back 9 different story, round ground down to a halt. Walked off after 7:00PM with 4 holes left.

They have done a lot of work with the cart paths. New sod line the new cart paths and I think they need watering. They are thin around the paths. I like the new layout and it tells me they are really taking pains to improve the facilities here. They even fixed the mirror overlooking hole 9 fairway. Nice little path from hole 8 to the snack shop. The gate btw is typically open for getting to the snack shop.

Fairways are bushy and a bit thin in spots. Rough is thick but you can still find your ball. Not thick nor overgrown so you can really hit crisp shots out of the junk. Sand looks ok, avoided that like the plauge. Suprised we moved that quickly on a Friday just disappointed we were not able to finish holes. BTW they charge a full cart if you're just a single. Not cool so I decided to walk instead. At $17.50 to walk its worth the price of admission. Wonder if the greens will improve, all they have to do is make the greens smooth. I know I may be wishing for the Sun the Earth, and the stars, but is it too much to ask?

this is my home course for my school golf team. i have to play here pretty much 3 times a week and its different every time. the greens are fast, then slow. the farways are perfect then horrible. u will probably shoot a different score everytime as well. the front nine has no par fives and two par threes which make it a par 34.....

holes 7 and 9 u better watch out for. 420 straight into the wind.

This course is in excellent condition..many new additions, some by the County(new pathways), some by the combined efforts (and money) of AG and the County, landscaping..and further painting of the clubhouse is planned. I play with a Ladies Club and we can play in 4-4 1/4 hours..if we are not held up by the guys in front of us. When all this work is finished, this will be the best public South Bay Course. The staff are very helpful. There is a marshall and if you call him during play, he will tell the slowpokes to move it! However, he also has to take a lot of flack..so give him a break.
