Played Sunday, 7/26. Course was in decent condition. We had to wait on a few holes, but it wasn't super bad. It got a lot faster once it started getting darker. We ended up finishing in under 5 hours, which is apparently good for Rancho Park. A few par 3 tee boxes were rough, but overall the course was in good shape. Never entered the sand, so I can't comment on them.

And got to see the Plaque on 18 up close for the first time. Very cool.

Played last Saturday morning with about 8 am tee time. We started about 20 - 25 minutes late. It took us about 5 hours to play 18 holes, which isn't bad for Rancho Park. We did have to wait on a few holes. But it is nice that they do not allow fivesomes.

The course is in okay condition. The fairways were dry in spots and very mushy in other spots. There were a lots of yellow (dry) grass on the fairways. The greens were in decent shape tho' we noticed the green were punched (with tiny holes). The balls did bounce a little on the greens.

The sand from the looks of it were a little hard packed and/or wet in spots. But the weather is so much cooler than the valley. We really like the layout of this course. No wonder this course is always so busy. We always like looking at the plaque on the 18th hole about Arnold Palmer's score of 12 on the 18th hole. You always feel better that your beat Arnold's score on the last hole.

Good ol' Rancho Park. I have always enjoyed coming out to this old track. A little out of the way to make our regular rotation. Greens were in good shape, rough was shorter than I remember. Playing conditions are very good now. Good mix of long challenging holes with fair par threes and risk reward par 5's. The weather is always cooler during these hot days in the valley. Even finished in under 4 hours. (got out ahead of the ladies club, ha!) Overall, has to be one of my favs of the LA Parks & Rec. courses. One thing I always noticed too is the very strict starters who act like they're running Riviera C.C. Come out, play early, have fun.

Played on Fri., May 15, 2009 with Moneysworth. Something to note: Bob Davis and James Ward with LA City Golf were onsite with LPGA hall of famer Amy Alcott to lay out some course character upgrades. Look for some changes to fairway/rough redesign, possible new bunkering on some holes and maybe some tee redesigns. Course conditions were o.k. with maintenance work nearing completion on #1 tee box, all the markers were moved forward on that tee. Other tees looked fine. Fairways and rough are all good. Greens seem to be a problem. Slow, bumpy at times, and inconsistent. Sand traps looked like they could use more maintenance. Lots of leaves, debris, and footprints in most of the traps. Fairly slow pace of play with our 10:07 a.m. tee time, but really opened up by the 17th. Haha. It took just over 5 hours and I have heard it gets worse. I aint complaining, it was fun. Maybe soon, the greens will get back some smoothness and consistency, and with the pending character upgrades, I am looking to play again.

Back at Rancho again today. The greens are recovering from the recent aeration, ranging from pretty nice in some areas to pretty bumpy in others. They're working on the tee boxes on #1 and #5, so they've got the markers moved up on both. We tee'd off at 6:30 and finished under 4 hrs, not bad. Overall, rancho continues to be a good test of golf and a good value.

Played 3/6 as a foursome. Got around in about 5 hours which is pretty good for this place. Overall, the course is in good shape. They have added a couple of new greens on the back 9. Both are excellent additions to a fine course. My partner and I played poorly, but were able to scramble a little and pull something out of nothing. Fortunately, Rancho gives you ample opportunities to do just that. TIP: If you are riding, try and get a green cart. They are new and hold a charge well. If you get stuck with one of the older white carts, you may be pushing it for the last 3 holes. If that happens, let the guy at the cart shack know, and he may give you a free cart your next time out.

played here for first time on sunday 1/11/09. 9:18 tee time. acutual tee off was 9:40. probably one of the nicest muni courses i've played. wide fairways and challenging par 3's. The only problem is that it plays very slow. Finished in over 5.5 hours. marshall was nowhere to be seen. group in front of us needed to take a golf etiquette refresher course. talking loud on the next tee box while we are putting, I had to give them the old "ssshhh." Also, backed up 3 deep on par 3's and they don't wave us up? Other than that, I'd play here again, but prob only on weekday.
