Was going to use my Southland Golf magazine deal until I saw an even better one for $35 dollars with cart on Golfnow. Joined another single & a twosome for an enjoyable round. This place is in GREAT shape. POP was just under 4 hours even with a little waiting on the last 3 holes.

For the middle of August this place was looking good. One thing I have lacked to mention over my last three reviews or so are the facilities at these places. They are very nice & enjoyable.

As for the golf, the tees are all level & in great shape. Nice & lush, with the only exception being about 1/4 of the tee box on #8, which is completely barren for some reason. Not sure if it is work going on or randomly bad because a small part of the teeing area was in it, but it was easy enough to tee the ball somewhere else.

Fairways are running very nicely, cut well & with only a hint of dried out spots (NOT bare) here or there. Excellently conditioned.

Rough is healthy for the most part, but I don't expect a course to keep every inch of it perfect at all, so there are lumpy or bare spots around, but no big deal.

Greens rolled really well. Unlike last week at Brookside, there was only ONE type of grass growing & they were rolling very well. Only a few dry spots from old ball marks to deal with. What really impressed me were the fringes. Compare to Rustic Canyon for quality.

Bunkers were fantastic, had great sand. One playing partner said a bunker on #17 he was in was hard but I was in another on the same hole & it was just fine.

Overall this course is in great shape & the deals you can get are very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my round & the course layout, & highly recommend it.

4/16-the greens were punched. Noooo!!! I forgot to check greenskeeper. However, it was fastest round ive had here, 3.75 hrs at 10am. While walking. I mentioned walking because we let a 3some on carts pass through. It was ridiculous! The place was a ghost town. The fairways are not as good as last year. Tee boxes, sand okay. Greens played good considering the aeration. Course is very challenging with narrow fairways and plenty of trees to make it difficult to save par from the ruff.

The course is in a good shape overall except for the fairway. They need to improve the fairway. However it is still worth to play!

Playd today in the SCGA event 3/27/14. The course is in very, very good shape. Trees have been pruned, ponds cleaned up, bunkers have excellent sand quality, and fairways are tight (don't let the brown color throw you off - the turf is excellent for golf). This was my first time here in about 5 years, and I was very impressed. It's an excellent muni facility and the layout tests your tee ball accuracy. The greens rolled smooth and quick as well. I don't know if the conditions today were put in place strictly for the SCGA event, or if the course looks this good most of the time, but for today, the Hondo delivered.

Played on 3-15-14 (Saturday), with a tee time of 12:20. Started 15 minutes late, and POP was poor - 3 hours for front 9, and 2.5 hours for back. Front 9's POP is in large put attributable to the numerous times you find players from other groups standing in your fairway after their errant shots. The course design facilitates such scenarios unfortunately -- much more than so than most courses I've played. The fact that the foursome in front of us definitely should have been playing the white tees did not help. Overall, the physical conditions were average to good; I didn't notice excessive ball marks or divots on the fairways. I wasn't in any bunkers so I won't comment on the sand. Overall, even though I like the layout of the holes and the varied designs, the POP will probably keep me from coming back for a while.

Played Thursday, mid morning T time for $40(coupon), included small bucket.

My Dad broke his age, I almost broke my driver, the wife had a bloody marry and I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions and layout of this LA county course.

Proceeded to the range to warm up, a little different from most IE courses, they have tiers here, didn't think much of it. Started by butchering my 7 iron, then I switched to driver, took it back slowly and BANG! I hit the head of my driver, on one of the metal vertical support beams behind me. Left a small dent, but no crack or broken shaft. Would not have been a good way to start.

Really surprised at the rating here, it should be at least a 6.5 instead of 5.5. Kind of thought this was going to be a beat up old classic course, ended up enjoying it a lot.

Greens: Great condition, freshly cut, smooth, med-fast, looked faster than they were, not many ball marks.

T's: Immaculate condition, flat firm and lush, even the par 3's have a big area to rotate, so not excessively damaged.

Fairways: Very good winter condition, dormant grass but plenty of it for this time of the year.

Sand Traps: Plenty of good quality sand, but were not groomed that morning, otherwise they would have been excellent.

Rough: Was good, consistent throughout the course.

Lay Out: Classic design with modern improvements, fairways are wide enough, but course is pact into small area, chance of getting beaned is high.

Service: Snack bar lady was nice and helpful. Cart girl was nice and came around a couple of times. Wife ordered a bloody marry($8) standard rip off, but was good. Wife still does not get that when she gets loaded, her play goes down hill. Her game is coming along really well though.

My Dad shot a 78! breaking his age of 79. Good job Pops.

Overall for $29 dollars it was not bad and I would like to play this course again in the summer when the grass is lush.Have fun.

It has been a couple years since I played here. The course was not in nearly as nice condition as I recall it being. Greens were OK, but lots of issues with the fairways and a "general scruffiness" to the course. We were second off in the AM and played as a walking threesome in less than 2 1/2 hours so pace of play was great. Played the "tips" which means there are a few really strong holes. Fun course. Always enjoy playing here and the senior rate makes it a very good value.

Played yesterday 12/26 on a GN hot deal for $36 at 11:00am. Our foursome tee'd off on time but that was the highlight of the day pace wise. Stuck directly behind two fivesomes was brutal. Although to be fair they actually kept up but it was just plain busy yesterday. POP was 5.5 hours.

Would agree with most of the previous review. Bermuda was starting to go dormant although still mostly a shade of green in the majority of areas and very playable. Good lies all day long in the fairways. Tees, rough, and bunkers were all fine and no qualms. Greens were great early in the round but by the end they were a bumpy mess and inconsistent speed wise. Greens are pretty large, most slope from back to front and have more break than you think.

Been a few years since I played here and I forgot how tight this course can be. Lots of trees separating the fairways. The longer you hit it, the tighter the fairways get on most holes. Not a long layout as all par 5's are reachable as are a couple of short par 4's. Par 3's are long though and that's where the course shows its teeth the most. Lots of parallel fairways so there's room to recover from errant tee shots but at the same time that means a lot of incoming artillery so heads up. We almost got nailed a couple times with no fore call to be heard. Layout is flat as can be and very easy to walk. Wouldn't go out of my way to play but with a good deal or if in the area it's worth a look.
