Was running errands in Westlake this morning 1/5/2015...headed out for a quick round at Westlake GC with my buddy Nickesquire1. POP walking was 3 hours 15 minutes playing with a nice single. Greens here were the highlight of the course. I rated them an 8. Very few pitch marks, medium paced speed, shiny and holding irons like darts. Putting pure. I have never seen Westlake's greens so pure and shiny. The fairways, rough and tee boxes were rated between a 5-6 and were mostly dormant brown grass mixed in with some green kikuyu grass. Was in one bunker left of #14 green that contained just enough sand and was on the firmer side. Some of the tees needed leveling but overall for winter conditions I thought the course was in decent shape. Regarding the layout if you are bombing it straight and in play there are some real nice scoring chances. If you are crooked at all you will be tree-bound we call it on almost every hole. Very nice staff here and a nice driving range with a large putting green and small chipping green. This is a good course to work on your short game and accuracy off the tee. Thanks to Westlake GC for a fun day...had a great time.

I met up with a couple guys from work to get in has many holes as possible before dark. First time out since my surgery so not a bad course to get back into at only $20 including cart.

The course was in solid overall shape for a course of this caliber. Tee boxes were decent but no separation between the white and silver boxes. The fairways were a bit patchy in places, but mostly green and playing well. Greens were very soft, slow, and bumpy with ball damage and burn spots. None of us was in a bunker but they looked wet and hard. Still quite enjoyable evening with a laid back atmosphere.

Eaglee and I met up here yesterday morning for a warm-up round on the way up to Olivas. I had a 6:00 tee time and we ended up going off second behind a foursome of regulars. We did wait on plenty of shots, but they kept up a good pace and we never felt the need to push them. Still a nice 3-hour pace. $40 to walk seems too steep for this course. Wish it was a weekday to use the GK Coupon, but oh well.

The course was in solid overall shape for a course of this caliber. Tee boxes mostly good. Fairways a bit patchy in places, but mostly green and playing well. Some of the worst spots were marked as GUR, which is always a good sign the management is working to improve things or at least not letting players get stuck with bad lies after hitting a good fairway tee shot. Greens soft and a bit slow, but pretty smooth with not too much ball damage that early in the day. Neither of us was in a bunker, so no comments there.

Overall, this is an enjoyable course for what it is. Pretty narrow in some areas with a lot of trees in play and the layout definitely favors a draw hitter in most places. However, it's a fairly short executive course, so it usually doesn't take much to get safely off the tee and have a good approach in.

I played here with two friends I want to say a month ago after work on a random weekday/night, but I work right up the street and pass by the 5th-7th holes at least once or twice a week and feel the review will still be accurate. We got on the course at about 5 and got through in about three hours walking, with pretty much nobody else on the course. Since this course is pretty short, it is definitely doable in this timeframe if you don't spend time waiting.

I hadn't played here in a long time, like over a year, and remembered the course being drier and firmer than it was this last time. The greens were slow, but everything else was nice.

If you haven't played here, Westlake is a super standard exec course with a par 67 and water on a few holes. I grew up playing this course on occasion, and it is always fun as long as it's not packed and has a great feel and atmosphere to it if you have it semi-open for your round. If you have, it is the same, super standard Westlake that you know it to be. It is great for what it is, but there is plenty that it does not have. Lucky for us, we are blessed with plenty of other, diverse courses with tons to offer all within a (relatively speaking) short drive from anywhere in the region if Westlake isn't what you are looking for.

Played Westlake yesterday 1/31/2014 at 12 noon with buddies and greenskeeper members Pedro7170, Steve and RGM2525. Westlake is short tree lined course to work on your short irons and wedges. Probably can hit 3 wood here off most tees. Conditions were as follows. Greens were super soft and held irons like darts. Some ball marks to fix but not to many. Greens looked decent when walking on them but putts contained some bounce to them. Overall not to bad. The fairways are a mix of dormant brown grass like most courses right now. They contained a few patches of green grass. The tees were semi-lush but many tees were in a position today where they were un-level. It looks like at present time the course is rotating most of its tees to let some sod grow in different places. Was not in any bunkers but it looked from my playing partners that they were semi-firm with just enough sand to get out of. There is a GK coupon that GK members can use that is $19 bucks to walk anytime during the week. Very friendly staff here and a big driving range. This is a nice course to play if you are pressed for time possibly during the week as it is a shorter course. Thanks Westlake for an enjoyable day.

Today, I had the opportunity to play 18 holes with 3 Greenskeeper members at Westlake Golf Course. If you want to play a quick round of 18 holes Westlake is the place to go. Today the weather was great with a little bit of wind but not much. The tees were not to bad there was a few that where on even but must of them had great grass to hit from. The fair ways are narrow and hard to hit. There was plenty of sand on the sand traps and not to hard to get of the sand traps. The greens were slow and but in good shape. Overall it was great fun playing at Westlake Gof Course. Thank you so much Greenskeeper for giving me the opportunity to play at Westlake.

Played 4/7. Won't even post a normal review format because this place is a joke. I have fond memories because I started playing golf here 20 years ago or so. The course is a joke, no mowed fairways, greens where longer than morongo and oak valley fairways from the day before. Practicing shots is always good, this course is a great beat around round... but don't expect too much

Played yesterday. Fairways were in decent condition, about 70% green. Greens were SO SLOW it wasn't even funny. Four-putted the first hole from 18 feet. They were like shag carpet the entire round (maybe because of the heat they're letting them grow longer?). They also had a lot of unrepaired ball marks (not necessarily staff's fault). Anyway, bunkers were not terrible but not good-not necessarily soft fluffy stuff but not hard-pan-very coarse and grainy almost like play sand at a park. Tee boxes had bunches of weeds growing in them, although there were some on the back nine that look brand new. Some areas of the fairways had standing water in them from the staff leaving sprinklers on all day.
All in all, this course is great for the beginner or if you've been playing poorly lately. Very flat and short, under 5,000yds. from the blue tees. Only major fear factor is the water on a few holes, otherwise you should score well.

Played Sat. 4/21. Shockingly empty at 8:00 am. Apparently the men's club was playing somewhere else. No one in front of us; no one behind until the 17th hole. Finished in under 4 hours. Greens were punched a few weeks ago so they are still a bit bumpy & sandy. Very slow. I've seen the course in better condition. Fairways were iffy. It's one thing to land in a divot, but it's bad when a good drive is rewarded by landing on a tie lie between clumps of grass. There is not a level tee box to be had, yet they were much more lush than the fairways. Sand traps were in excellent shape and appeared to have been recently filled with new, soft sand. The rough was essentially the same as the fairway...patchy with some lush areas. But for a shorter track, I still like this layout. There's water and good bunkering. Wanna drive the green? Go for it...but at your own risk. The holes are fairly narrow with some really squeezed by overhanging tree branches. Yet, good times can still be had. Enjoy!
