Played Woodley on Fri Aug 24th. This was my first time to the course, and I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the course. As several others have noted the fairways are wide and very forgiving, several of the holes are dead straight and dont have any surprises. Nonetheless I found myself enjoying the day and scenery.

The tee boxes were in great shape, all of them are quite large which allows them to rotate the markers frequently. I did not notice any unevenness on any of them either.

The fairways were in great shape and much greener than the sister course Encino, which has several brown patches on each hole. On this course I did not notice any large browned out patches that looked starved for water. The rough was also quite lush and on several of the holes was rather thick and penal if you did stray from the fairway. Of course there are always some exceptions on some holes, but in general was good condition.

The greens condition was pretty good, there are always some unrepaired ballmarks, but not too many. The knock against the greens as noted below is the speed. They were very slow, even after I left several short on the opening holes, I continued to leave them short. I recommend a full hip turn when putting!

Overall I enjoyed the course, having played at twilight rate, it is definitely worth the free currently. I will be adding this course to my usual rotation, and cant believe it took me so long to get here in the first place.

Got out at 10:30am and finished at 1:45! No one was here today except our foursome. I played with an 80 year old and he kept it going! The course is in fair to excellent shape. This is a great track to test out a new driver or other club. The place is wide open. Fairways were in good to great shape and the greens were top notch. They were deceptively slow however, so you had to hit it. There was an afternoon breeze which kept the humidity down. You can walk or ride! Bunkers looked like packed sand although I kept out of them today. Pretty fun time . Check it out. Nice driving range, putting and chipping area and a nice 19th hole for after.

Most of our buddies had commitments this weekend so two of us went of at 3:30pm over at Woodley Lakes just to get a round in. I wouldn't have thought there would be this much to say about the place.

I've played it before but for those that haven't, know this; you can hit it absolutely ANYWHERE off the tee and still be somewhat in play. In New England, we'd call this course a cow pasture. And while that certainly hurts the challenge a bit, the holes are freaking long. There's no Par 3 under 160 and at least 5 par 4's are over 400 yards (No's 9-10 are 450). So while you can hit a huge hook/slice off the tee and still have a clear shot, it'll be with a very long club. The Par 5's are all doglegs and you actually have to position your drive somewhat well to reach in two. If you can hit it long and straight off the tee, you should score very well here.

I'm of the opinion that if you want to play Wilson/Harding/Rancho in Los Angeles, you should have to prove that you can break 100 at Woodley/Hansen first. Some of the hackers at the "good" city courses in town make the 6 hour rounds there unbearable. At Woodley, we went off at 3:30 on Saturday(!) and finished at 7:45. The tee boxes were a little shaggy/weed infested but totally playable. Fairways were a LOT greener than our round at Lost Canyons last weekend and the greens rolled true but didn't have much break in them.

For a City Twilight rate, we had a great time and have no complaints about pace of play or bang for the buck whatsoever. If you're in need of a last minute round in LA, give it a whirl.

Played with 3 friends today Wed. July 25 at 6:30am. The greens were very slow, probably the slowest I have ever played on. The only other problem was that there was Goose crap on a few of the greens, I'm not talking about a little bit of crap, I'm talking about alot of crap. One suggestion to the grounds keeper, clean and cut the greens before everything else.

Played on 7/23/12 and 7/24/12. Took advantage of the $26 after 11am weekday special. The weather was a bit warm on both days 90 degrees but with the wind it wasn't that bad. The course managers did how ever decide to water the greens and fairways a wee bit much. The greens were soak but they did roll nicely. There were a few ball marks but most amateurs don't know how to fix a ball mark correctly. The tee boxes were very lush and at times furry. The fairways were lush and at time soaking wet with a few dry spots. Not a lot of roll. The ruff was about 3-4 inches long. The thing I like about this course is that this course is very open. You can hit a stray drive on another fairway but you have the opportunity to hit it on the green on your second shot. The thing I dislike the most is that most of greens on this course is elevated. holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16 have all raised greens. I guess this is the only defense next to the thick ruff and trees for punishing the players. The bunkers on the course is never raked by the greens-keepers and is filled with compact wet sand which makes hitting out of them reasonably easier from the fairway bunker and very difficult from green-side bunkers. I do love this course. When the wind is blowing (usually from the south-east) it makes most of the par 4's very long. I like the practice areas on this course as well. The driving range is all grass and their is a short game area by the 18th green and a few putting greens around the club house. Don't expect to buy any golf equipment on this course as the pro-shop is no longer there. The city decided not to renew their contract with the shop owner. This also effected Rancho Park as well. Shot 77 on Monday and 79 today. I started off as a single on Monday and started off as a twosome but I let the guy I was playing with go ahead because he was one of those guys who just hits and hits and hits. Very fast player.I play fast but his guy must have been going some place important quick because after the third hole he was gone. Most of the course was open and empty pretty much all day except for the junior tournament behind me. Finished both days just over 3 hours. Over all very pleasant days of golf. Staff is always friendly and the bar is waiting with open arms right passed the 18th green to celebrate a birdie or to console a bogey.

Monday 7/23-- started 11am & finnished befor 2:30. This is a muni and not very changeling, if all you want to do is go out and hit the ball around on a week day, this is a fine place for it. The greens are smooth and rather soft and kinda slow, not so slow to drive you crazy, but not near quick. Tee boxes are very good, flat and well kept, as I said this is a muni and nothing is perfect, the rough can be punishing at times. Fairways are ok. All and all not a bad place for a weekday tune up.

Keep expectations low and this track will surprise you. Fun, stress free rounds to be had here as the fairways are wide and there are not a whole lot of traps or water hazards.

Good place to work on your game. Recommend.

Wide open course with very little trouble. Greens and tee boxes are OK. Fairways are not maintained with 15 different types of grass, feels like the only maintenance they do is mowing and watering. Hardpan and dirt lies everywhere. Pace of play was fantastic for a Saturday afternoon. Overall OK but when you consider $45 to walk (non resident rate) Ill play elsewhere.
