Alondra, you are as flat and as unimaginative as I am loud and in-your-face. Typical city run muni. Overwatered. Some of the sprinklers are leaking so they have shut-off issues. Greens are BUMPY, SLOW and its a good guess where the ball will roll. You folks out there have got to fix those divots I mean the greens are soft enough but with all the boucey rolls you get why do you have to have to worry about that PLUS fixing divots? Sand ok. Packed but playable. Fairways are soggy in spots but green for the most part. Some areas for Back 9 are pretty brown though. Tee boxes are really undulating but dealable. Just tough to find a flat spot sometimes. Played behind a 5-some family for front 9 but they were good sports and allowed us to play though on back 9. We filled the gap. They were behind at least 1-2 holes behind on the front. I loved his response to us to play a little faster on the front 9, "We are playing as fast as we can." I am sorry but playing at a Muni you don't have the luxury of slow play. At the very least keep up with the group ahead. I mean staying behind at least a half-hole is not OK but tolerable but 1 hole to 2 holes behind? Come on. Light a fire up that arse and grow a pair; man-up and play a lot more faster. I mean if a 4-some walking can keep the pressure of a 5-some riding & walking... grow a pair and get a move on!

One of the few places I know where you show up around 12-1PM and you can get out. It's your basic vanilla course -- what you see is what you get. Greens are OK. Bumpy but what are you going to do about it? It's a public course. One concern though some idiot thought it was clever to notch 5 holes on the front 9. I mean he/she/it took a divot on the hole; disfiguring it. Not nice if you ask me. Highlight of the day was getting hit into twice. First time I hear this barely audible, "Fore, fore, fore!" on hole 9. The problem was this golfer was trying to hit the green on hole 18 (40 feet away) which happens to be adjancent to hole 9 we were playing. Ball lands 6-10 feet in front of us. OK it happens. Next time we are on hole 11 on the tee box UNDER a tree and we hear no yell but I swear the ball bounces inches from a kid in our group and bounces out of bounds or somewhere. Now this ball hits into us on the fly and the guy that hit it didn't even seem sorry about it saying he did yell "fore." Then he is convinced we hit his ball out of bounds. Wonderful. I honestly don't know what peeved me off the most -- getting hit into or being accused of hitting his ball out of bounds. We were under a tree 15-20 feet from the 10th green waiting to hit on the next tee box. Now the ball goes though the tree; hits into our group on the fly; hits the side of a hill, which also happened to be hard pan, and bounces to places unknown and he has the nerve to blame us? Or in particular me? LOL geeze give me a break. This place is almost as target happy as that overpriced course in OC -- Meadowlark.

I thought the cart was going to die on the first hole and this wasn't the first time it's happened. Very average course but for $21.50, I guess you get what you pay for.

WeLL, I played the BIG course today (6-7-07). From blue t's (6577yds.). Over all course conditions = Shotty!!! but you know that. Tee boxes = mostly level and plenty of grass. Fairways = LARGE targets very open. Rough = NONE almost equal 2 fariway. Greens = always a challange cause you dont know which way the bumps will take it... Have fun thats the key!!!!

Alondra's basic layout is good and challenging. But the maintenance of the course is poor. There is virtually no differentiation between the fairway and the rough. There is virtually no rough. The fairways include a wild variety of weeds and grasses. Sometimes they mow. The bunkers have a dense, dark stone dust (not sand) in them. When they're wet they're like cement. There is little style to the course grounds. Lakewood is at a whole level higher of quality for about the same fee. Alondra deserves better oversight and upkeep. I wish the County would pay attention to the poor maintenance.

You basically get what you pay for from this course. The greens are slightly bumpy, tee boxes okay, and fairways brownish-green throughout the course. I would consider Alondra a more challenging city course because of the small and elevated greens, the distance of 6k yards off the womens tee, and the ocean breeze that makes it a bit more difficult. Also, it gets busy at this course like any other city course so prepare for a long round.
