We played today @ 1PM and they have indeed punched the other half of all greens. But the half that was punched earlier is making a great comeback. The front 9 is in good shape but the back 9 is under construction but with some improvements. The new tee boxes on 13 and 14 are open for play. Upper tee box on 11 is under construction but lower one is open. 12 tee box looks good but not open and new cart path yet to be poured. But there is a new bunker design for 12 that looks really great (old ones gone 2 new in their place). 13 new tee open and new cart path in place and right side of fairway where old path ran is now grass and improves the hole and they redid the bunker and added new sand. 14 new tee open and all new bunker layout in fairway. Really makes the hole look much better but still some construction to play through. But when finished it will make for a much better hole to play. 15 new tee box on right open one on left still closed. But the good news for all you LV regulars is that the 2 bunkers on the left in the fairway are being removed. And the bunker in front of the green is being worked on. 16 tee box is now under construction and temporary tee set up. Work will continue until about Thanksgiving and will then end for the year. They are only working on 3 holes at any given time. And eventually all bunkers on the entire course will be redone. If I missed anything my apologies.

Some of the construction of new tee boxes, cart paths, and bunkers is complete on hole #13 while they still work on #12, 14, and 15 (14 is still a par 3). POP this morning was very good, got around in 4:15 walking. Greens are very soft right now (half has been aerated, next half is next week) so lot's of soft spike marks, especially later in the day as mentioned in worldmac42's previous post. Don't know why he did not check GK'er reviews prior to playing LV ... we've been talking about this project for weeks. Anyway, they need to cut the rough and there's some thin areas in the fairways, the season is starting to change. Some terrible lies today, even in the short stuff.

Played here on 10/9/12 with a fellow golfer. Got a great t-time (10am), and I found out why on the back 9, holes 12-15 were being worked on. it would've been nice if the starter would've let us know that so we could've decided if we wanted to play or not. Tee boxes and fairways were in bad shape, but the greens (especially #3) were horrendous. They should be ashamed of themselves for letting the course go like that.

Tee box construction continues on holes 12-15 (#14 will play as a par 3 for a while) but will stop at the end of October then pick up again in the Spring according to the Head GK'er. Otherwise, course is in very good shape for LV, tee to green. Bunkers a bit wet with a firm bottom, greens recovering nicely from aeration, and fairways best I've seen in quite a while. The fog slowed everyone down this morning but once it lifted the POP was very good for LV: we teed off at 7AM and played in 4:15.

Always valued getting a t time especially during the weekend. Part of course currently under construction for even better play in the future. The nice views, greens, fairways, etc. may be great about this course , but my recent customer experience w/ the course manager practically ruined my weekend. Had a 9:16 t time last Saturday, expected some delay since clubhouse announced my group as 4th up about 15 minutes in to T time, which is common in a busy course like LV, but when we were supposed to be next up, the clubhouse change our t time priority to 3rd up, and move two groups behind us as next and 2nd up, when we asked the starter why the change, he only said he don't know, since the announcement came from the Clubhouse and he only follow ouders. I also asked the group which was moved up what their t time was and was told it was for 9:24, When we went to the clubhouse, the manager said he changed it, because they were having problems w/ their computer, which does not make sense, since what he did was move our tee time back 2 groups, and give our priority to someone else. he also came up with other excuses like delays, etc, then asked if we would like a refund, then apologized for the problem, then move us back to next up, that is after the later group left the t box, which tells us that the manager "Bob" does not know or care about what happens to the customer, I wonder how he qualifies to run such a popular golf course. What is the point of getting a 9:16 t time, and they let the 9:24 t time group go ahead of you? This is probably how the county of LA spent our tax dollars. I hope that some changes take place with the people managing this course, or the tax dollars being spent trying to improve the course facility is just a total waste, because it is all about customer experience/satisfaction.

Played this course for the first time yesterday at 12:30. I had to laugh at the previous review stating it was his WORST ROUND EVER. Because I had my BEST ROUND EVER (well almost) shot in the 70s and for me that's a good round.
There was no nasty marshall on the course. We finished in under 4.5 hours.

What I liked: Ocean views, greens were relatively divot free although slow, driveable par 4, decent fairways.
What I disliked: Bunkers were horrific...I'd pick the ball clean, you can't play an explosion shot. The blind tee shots made if tough for a first timer.

Sure there was construction but it didn't ruin the round. The greens have been aerated on half the green (the side that the flag is not on).

Other than that I'd say it's good value for 40 bucks - esp once construction and aeration is completed.

Aeration completed on half side the greens, will take a couple weeks to recover. We had no marshall problems (see previous post), hard to understand what that guy's issue was ... usually people complain when there is NO marshall and play is slow; he complained because a marshall told his group to pick up the pace. Thin skin I guess. Construction continues on holes 12-15 tee boxes and they're ready to rip up 16 soon. NOTE: if you are posting your score #14 is playing as a par 3 and should be scored as a NET PAR (ie. a 5 would be a net par for players with a hcp. of 6 or higher).

WORST ROUND EVER!!!!! Correction on the aeration taking place starting tomorrow 9/26, what a bummer. I booked a round on yesterday 9/24 thinking I was getting in before the aeration, but low and behold when I arrived they were in full swing, a guy in a helmet dumping huge shovels of sand onto every green, sand blowers and punch machines in full swing. My fault, should have called before hand and asked. Temp tees on 12-15 and Temp holes on 2, 4, 5, 8 (a guy comes out and digs a hole in the fairway and puts a flag in, once as I was hitting to a green and then all of a sudden the hole became 75 yards shorter, pretty funny!) and half greens on the rest. I actually made a 40ft putt in the middle of the fairway over grass, everything breaks towards the water! After a couple of holes I accepted it and tried to enjoy my round, beautiful day and great view..... THE REAL REASON WORST ROUND EVER WHY, WAS THEIR MARSHALL who didn't know his butt from his face, HAD NO CLUE WHAT was happening on his golf course.... constantly badgering us, wondering why we are so behind, but can't see the slowest group in history right in front of us, the group in back of us hole behind us, not sure what was happening. Wondering why we wouldn't want to hit while the group in front was within striking distance and in the fairway, wondering why we were so slow when half the holes are shortened and able to almost drive half of the greens ,which happened to have..guess who?! , the group in front of us. Horrible marshall if that's what you call him. If you want ragged conditions and this guy on your tail then book now.

Tee leveling project ongoing, currently holes 12-15 have temporary tees, moved up. Today, the tee on #14 was moved up to the 150 yd. marker while workers re-arranged the fairway bunkers. Looks like there will be a permanent border around the new tee boxes, will look very nice when completed. Otherwise, the course is in very good condition, tee to green. Still a 10-15 delay to tee off (Glow ball groups, bad idea) and a 4 1/2 hour round with a 7AM tee time. That's Los Verdes.
