I booked two tee times for Opening Day at Arroyo Trabuco, July 1, 2004. Our group went off at 7:16 and 7:24 AM. Here are some of my observations about this brand new course.
Upon arriving at the course we left our bags at the drop off area. Staff checked tee time and took our bags to our cart. Carts had our names placed in the windshield sign holder, nice touch.
Pro staff staff were polite but slow. I feel that this will only get better as they get more experience with the computer, credit card reader, etc.
Price for the round was $55.00, includes a cart and included range balls, this is a great price for the venue.
Play was just bit slow since none of us knew the course but sill played in 4.5 hours.
Prior to opening day the course had hosted some tournments and play for owner, designers, etc. But the course was in great shape as you would expect. I hope that all players will take care of this course as time passes.
Front nine plays easier than the back nine but both are fair tests of golf.
The only disappointment I experienced during my round were the sand traps. Every trap on the couse was soaking wet. This made for VERY difficult bunker shots since some of the bunkers are hugh. Suggest that you take a strong swing and do not take as much sand with your shot.
After the round we were going to have lunch but the bar/cafe staff were slow and confused, I am sure that this will also get better as time passes.
Overall I would highly recommend this track for play. The price is right and the course is a good test of golf.
