Played his wonderful course on 7/14/04. Began at 1:30 pm and finished 6:30. Plays very slowly due to players taking too long to play and by looking for balls in the enviromentally sensitive areas. Customer service is excellent and the price is excellent for the course. The greens are very firm and will not hold many shots. I look forward to playing he course again.

Disappointed after all the hype on this course. The fairways & greens are rock-hard like cement. The pace of play for a Monday was horrible - 5.5 hours. And there is no halfway house/snackbar at the turn. Relies on cart girl who we only saw once. The layout is OK - only a couple of holes that are memorable, otherwise ordinary. There are way better courses out there that have better layouts, much better conditions and better value.

Very scenic course. Front nine is very player friendly, designed for favorable bounces. Back nine is less forgiving and much more difficult. Number 12 has got to be one of the hardest hole in the area, with a long forced carry and a long second shot. Never saw a marshall so play was slow. It may be because the course is new and players are not familiar with the course. I hope that as time goes on they send some marshalls out to keep pace of play up. Very friendly staff, particularly the starter. I look forward to playing the course regularly and watching it mature.

Nice new course, but typical of modern designs in that you are either in the fairway or you lose your ball. Most fairways bottleneck in the landing areas, making the shorter more conservative tee shot preferable on nearly all par fours. Fairway grass is still growing in, so you can get some pretty strange bounces, and the ball rolls a long way. Take a wet towel if you like to play a clean ball. I saw only one ball washer near the blue tees on the entire course. Can't imagine how they forgot to buy ball washers(?). Round was very slow for early morning (took 5 hours teeing off at 7AM. Marshalls are plentiful, but there is little they can do when the whole course is so backed up. More staff on hand than an airport security screening station, so if you like the resort course feeling of people being all over you, carrying your clubs to and from your car, etc., you will love it here. Bring lots of balls unless you are a very straight and/or short hitter. A long iron off the tee turns out to be a pretty good idea on many holes, with landing areas that require you to choose your line depending on how far you can carry the ball. Unfortunately there are no indications of the distance of the carrys or how far the traps are, so you have to guess on many holes. A yardage guide would be very helpful. Greens are firm but putt very well. On the day I was there they painted the inside lip of the holes white, which was a nice touch. A good value for the money, but get ready for a long slow day.

Tried to walk on today. I first called and asked if they would be able to get a single out. I asked if the course was booked up. Lisa told me there would be no problem getting me out. I arrived at the course and two hours later left. Not one person (5) on the list before me got out...but they did let a 4-some out who seemed to know someone behind the desk.

$12 bucks for about 90 balls on the range....No club cleaners on the range....Since Saddleback driving range is a stones throw away, I would suggest practicing there. Although both Saddleback and the course are run by the same company:Donovan Brothers....Seems like a conflict of interest to me.

As you can tell not a great first impression... I hear the layout is great, but I won't be finding that out anytime in the near future.

Oh by the way...You can head down to Tijeras Creek for $5 - $10 bucks more and be treated much better. Did you know that the Donovan's ran Tijeras. It became a much better place (customer service and course condition) when they were replaced by Crown Golf.

PS.. Not a big fan of Donovan run facilities...Today I was reminded why.

Played here for the first time today. For 55 bucks, this is a great deal for a nice course in OC. Agree with the other poster who said there needs to be a club cleaner at the range. But the all-grass range is very nice indeed. So are the new Club Car Carts! Thought the layout was very nice. It's nice to know that there will be no homes bordering the course. I like how it meanders up and down, over and around the mountains and canyons. But if the wind blows, look out. Bring a lot of balls. Course was in decent shape, but for a course that just opened, I was a little disappointed in the fairways. Lots of brown patches and hardpan. Angeles National just opened and their turf is in far better condition. The practice green is sweet, tight, and rolls pure. All the greens on the course run a lot slower and they seemed more hairy than the practice green. All 'n all, not bad for 55 weekday and 85 weekend. Especially with the price of Strawberry, Oak Creek and Talega and Tustin through the roof. Everyone is very friendly and the cart girls came around like 5 or 6 times so my stomach was well taken care of. Pace of play was 4.15 so I can't complain. I think this course may put the hurt on Oak Creek, Strawberry and Talega. I'll be back.

Played this course for the first time today. Course is in great shape and challenging from tee to green. Since the areas off the fairways are environmental areas, they’re considered lateral, so bring some extra balls. There is only one out of bounds on the course. They did not have ball washers at all the tees ---- A wet towel should be considered. They also need some buckets with brushes and water at the driving range as there is no place to clean the mud and grass off your clubs. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The July 1 issue of the Orange County Register had a very helpful critique on how to play each hole and it can be downloaded from their web site. The senior rate with cart is $45.00 and worth it. I get to play there tomorrow and looking forward to it. Great course!!!

Great course, alot of fun and somewhat challenging at times. Alittle thin on the fairways and greens are extremely fast. Wind both helps and hinders game, but part of the area so just deal with it. They need a snack bar on the outlaying holes, not just a snack cart. Range needs some markers that tell distance, but still nice. Will definately go back.
