Great facility for a public course. Clubhouse and the employees were very cordial. A first time to play this course and we thoroughly enjoyed the round. The weather was great - not to hot!
The course overall is a treat with the elevation changes and the contrast of the lush green fairways with the surrounding chaparal (which means - do not hit out of bounds!!!).
There are some problem areas around, but, the city is aggressively addressing the areas - dry fairway areas, sand traps, tee areas, etc. Great job!
Played in 4:15. A nice leisurely pace.
The clubhouse facilities from the starter to the food are great.

Another nice outing at Black Gold on 8/24. Nice pace of play and decent conditions throughout. Some large bare spots in some fairways, sand covering a few tee boxes (under repair) but greens held well but are rather slow and course is in nice shape. 4.5 hour pace was nice too and I didn't lose as many balls this go round either. Price is still steep considering the condition of some of the fairways you should expect close to perfection...

A nice outing at Black Gold playing for $45 (bro rate). Course is playing in great condition right now although there were some beat up portions of fairway (dried out and bare) in a few spots. Greens were MUCH better than last time and easier to work with as they had softened up and were holding well. Target golf so bring lots of balls. The group ahead of us kept looking for their balls in the weeds so play started slowing down on the back 9. Overall a great round --especially at the rate I paid.

Played on 8/1, overall course in good condition. Need to watch the grain on the greens, they are very influential on the speed of your putts. Fairways and tee boxes were good. Traps, however, were inconsistent. Some were OK, others were hard mud or worse (like hitting out of bare dirt on greenside #17). Keep the ball straight; hit fairways & greens and you wouldn't have this problem.

The golf course was a treat to play. They should offer senior rates on Friday too. The greens were smooth but seemed slower than they looked. Overall a good course and fun to play.

Talk about "unforgiving." You're either on the fairway or you're OB; there's no in-between, no "rough" to hit out of back onto the fairway. And, for a kicker, some fairways are very narrow.

Talk about "unforgiving." You're either on the fairway or you're OB; there's no in-between, no "rough" to hit out of back onto the fairway. And, for a kicker, some fairways are very narrow.
Lots of elevation changes, good views, but this course is for the super accurate, only. Not for hackers, like me. Otherwise, bring a couple dozen extra balls. Many holes require carts to stay on cart path, making it more difficult to find your ball and/or have the right club. Some bunkers had sand that was hard as rocks. Greens were in good shape; only a couple looked brown or marked up.
