played in the early weekday afternoon. course is in pretty decent condition. i actually like the layout which gives a variety of holes and you don't use driver on every hole. tee boxes, fairways okay, rough is not grown out so it's pretty open. greens run slower than expected and were a little on the shaggy side. tough thing here was the POP. after 3.5 hours we were still on 12. hard to wait on every shot. won't be back until this improves.

Always enjoy playing this course! Very scoreable if you keep your ball in play and play from the appropriate tees. Course was in nice condition, better than I recall from when I played here last March. A few spots in the fairways need some TLC but otherwise, no issues with respect to condition.

Staff was as always very friendly and accomodating. Got our 4some out a few minutes ahead of schedule and played in under 4 hours which wasn't too bad. Price for seniors make this a very reasonable place to play given the quality of the course. Lots of "fun" holes, a break from the more traditional old style courses, yet playable and does not force you to hit shots beyond reasonable (Again if you play the proper tees)

Played in a tournament starting 8AM on 7/12. The first 3-4 greens were in average shape at best with divot damage and the greens were slow so speed was hard to judge. The tee boxes and fairways were in OK shape. I loved the bunker sand the three times I was unfortunate with approach shots. Maybe the best bunker sand in public golf in Orange County. I felt the course was gettable tee to green but the greens were not in the best shape. My first time playing CH and I will now know what to expect.

Played a twilight round on Tuesday. Course was wide open probably due to the US World Cup game. Course is in good shape. Tees were level and lush, fairways were nice and green and had good roll. Greens were firm and held shots, had some divot damage and were a little bumpy. Bunkers had good sand coverage. Staff was very friendly and the beverage cart came around multiple times. Can put the driver away, not a lot of length the GPS on the carts is very helpful in club selection. Screen on cart at the start of the round had tee selection guidelines for each set of tees. POP was 3.5 hours and did not feel rushed. 19th hole had some good happy hour drink deals.

the couple of bunkers I was in had a thin layer of sand - just enough to get ur club under.
lots of elevation changes and certainly have to pick the spot to land your ball or you will be standing on uneven lie.
customer service always have been excellent. very polite and happy to see you.
didn't get a chance to use their practice facility but they do have a driving range, putting green (front and back).
course is not that long but it does offer lots of challenge from any tee you play.
definitely will be back

Played first off on Monday at 6:05 AM..(totally dark out) Staff was great - very nice to allow me to get off first alone. The course was in generally nice condition. Some of the tee boxes were being sanded and a few of the greenside bunkers did not have a lot of sand, but overall the course was fine. Greens were cut on the front 9 - fairly quick. No cut greens on the back so much slower. Pace of play under 2 1/2 hours

Played Sunday 3/30 with a large group of 16 with a discounted rate just before twilight. Customer service here was outstanding and you get the feeling they appreciate you and care about your experience. The course was a little dry and hard, winter conditions with brown fairways and hard pan lies. Greens were a little bumpy ans showed signs of play some un repaired divots, they are punching in two days. Even with those negatives what an enjoyable round as the layout is really fun with well placed hazards, doglegs and elevation changes. Pace was good for a Sunday afternoon. Overall, great facility with outstanding customer service. I look forward to going back. once the course softens up and the greens heal Coyote Hills would be well worth a visit.

Played here 3/25/14. Overall, decent condition. Challenging, short course, with elevation changes and more target type shots than anything else. You will hit a variety of clubs from tees, only 2-par 5, both on back nine. Very good service inside, on range, and on course.

Conditions:
Greens were rather bumpy and a little slow. Am not certain they were cut / rolled on this day. Receptive, and mostly straight putts. Trying to find a little break on most putts, gave way to hitting most straighht at the hole. Kind of deceptively straight.

Fairways. Very thin, dormant bermuda. Virtually no cushioon under the ball, even when in center of fairway. A little frustrasting, but understand its typical with this grass. I guess no can count on more roll than normal, but tough (at least for me) to make solid contact.

Bunkers I found were good to very good. One was a little shallow, thin sand, but other two were nice.

Tee were a coin flip. Half good, and half not so good. Maintenance on #7 tee, so only 1 or 3 of the upper tees was open, and was all dirt. But as noted, they are in process of improving.

Fun course, don't expect to use driver much and good value ($45) for weekday afternoon.

Played Coyote Hills 12/21, 3rd group out, so pace was good but we still took 4.5 hours. The guys in my group just seemed to take their time. It had been many years since I played this course so I was looking forward to giving it a try. First off you will be struck by the dormant fairways. Not visually appealing and the lies are fairly tight, but I found them ok to play from. There were a lot of divots in the fairways. Rough was pretty modest, but was splotchy so it could be difficult to play from. The greens were in pretty good shape and were not overly fast unless you were above the hole, then it became a nightmare. I played the black tees which were roughly 6,000 yards and this is not a long hitter's course. Accuracy off the tee is far more critical than distance.

Overall, I enjoyed the course. Given this is Orange County, the $90 seemed reasonable, but compared to some other courses in SoCal, it is a little on the high side in my opinion.
