11/27 using teeoff deal time $16 POP 3 1/2 a little cool and breezy but nothing to complain about for late November. Course is getting plenty of water so fairways have ok cover--rough cut down a bit but still slows the ball and can provide interesting lies. Not in any bunkers but most look to have been recently groomed. Tees a little thin and depending on marker placement some not so level.
Greens are back to their normal good condition rolling medium-fast to fast--do not get above any front flags as the green falls away after the cup--lot of 4 footers coming back.
Not high end but a lot of fun and a lot of bang for the buck with friendly staff as a bonus.

11 /10 played here 3 times last 2 weeks good prices and its close to where I live and lately able to cruise at less than 3 3/4 POP--oh and really good weather.

11 /10 played here 3 times last 2 weeks good prices and its close to where I live and lately able to cruise at less than 3 3/4 POP--oh and really good weather.
Fairways are in transition some dormant area some quite nice and some patches of a thicker variety of grass that tends to out-grow the other varieties. Still had mostly good lies. Rough is present along most fairways with some bare spots but some heavy growth not that long but thick. Closer to the greens there are some tricky patches that really challenge the short sided shot.
Many tees have been top dressed so they look worse than they play.
Bunkers are mixed tending to be thin in the bottom areas but quite adequate on the slopes.
Greens are coming along and are at about 90% of their usually excellent quality. Talked with Jose the superb greens keeper who acknowledges that they have been extra cautious in cutting them down due to the recent temperature fluctuations but now has plans to verti-cut and roll next week.
Staff members are friendly and golfer oriented.
From my perspective even though this is not a high end course it can be a lot of fun and and a challenge to keep the ball in play--besides being very affordable at $16-22 using vouchers or on-line deals. Apparently there are a few more golfers with extra money as we found a few good pro v's and an AVX today along with the usual assortment of well varieties.

10/18 using GSC $22 voucher with range balls and 10% off food teeing off about 715 for a POP of 345. Fairways are somewhat spotty with some very good lies and then some extra wet or shaggy. Had mostly good lies fortunately. Rough is also varied with some real juicy areas and others that are more on the thin side. Bunkers on the front were quite wet and could use a good churn. Back 9 in better shape. Tees generally ok.
Greens are still recovering--a little bumpy and slower front 9-- getting almost back to usual good quality on the back.
Currently the back 9 is getting some environmental renovation along the riparian areas with the non-native vegetation being removed--so it looks like a construction zone in places--doesn't affect play--just aesthetics.
Golfer friendly staff always with a welcoming attitude.

Played here Sunday morning, 10/1/17, as part of on ongoing effort to check out local course which I've not played before. I can't imagine I'll ever play here again....

To start, greens have been punched, on or about 9/26, so not a good start. Pro Shop mentioned to me when I checked in and gave me 10% discount...Should have been a 90% discount.

I should have read further on the recent reviews here, but made decision to play here based primarily on the most recent one. I wasn't expecting much, and as mentioned at the top, like to explore different courses.

I did not know this is really only a 16 hole course. Not sure how long its been since they 'lost' holes 5 & 6, but that's about where the experience got so bad I found it kind of entertaining. It went something like this:

From the 4 green, you turn around and drive backwards to 4 tee, past 3 green and 3 tee, out onto the street and re-enter at original # 7 green, which you have to drive past to get to the tee.
Keep in mind that original 7 is now #5. From there you play original # 8, which is temporary #8. Then onto original # 9, which now plays as # 7 AND # 8. (7 is now a short par 4, and 8 is short par 3). From here I had to ask for directions to # 9. A couple of guys just finishing 8, told me to follow them, and they would let me (single) to play through. So off we went through the sewer / drainage tunnels toward the back 9. Teed of on original 10, which is temporary 9. Then off on original 11, which (like original 9) is now two holes, 10 & 11. Again a short par 4 with temp green in the middle of original 11 fairway, then a par 3 to original # 11 green. I think it was here that I saw a golf cart abandoned in the hazard right of the fairway, and a couple of chickens poking around near the green. Cool ! Wildlife!

From here, all holes played to what I believe is original design of 12-18, including the narrowest par 5 (#16) I've ever played. Maybe the narrowest hole, period, I've ever played. Can't be sure but could not have been more than 20-25 yards wide, with trees and OB on right, and a drainage ditch and trees on the left. Downhill tee shot I hit a hybrid which I thought would have been in some part of the fairway, just to be safe. I didn't realize fairway actually got narrower on the left side and saw my ball ricochet OB over the drainage ditch.

At this point, just glad to be almost done, I chopped it around for 2 more holes and then toured the sewer tunnels again back to home.

Wow....I don't really like to hammer any course on a review, but this one, unfortunately gets one. Perhaps the worst course I've ever played. Not going to even comment on conditions around the course. All bad, from tee thru fairway to bunkers, to greens.

Avoid as you would the 91 freeway on Friday rush hour.

9/1could 3 off at 730 for POP of 31/2 on a nice morning. Fairways have good cover and cushion somewhat thin in fringe areas. Rough is found along most fairways and could present a bit of a challenge--some pretty thick and juicy areas closer to the greens.
Tees about 60/40 to the good side. Both bunkers I found have the new fine but heavy sand which presents a real challenge for me.
Greens medium fast receptive to full shots but quick with lot of roll out on chips--quite good overall.

I played Sunday, 9-3-17. It was a nice local and inexpensive escape from the heat with the strong ocean breezes that kicked in. I arrived about an hour early. The course was fairly empty so the (unnecessarily rude) guy in the pro shop said to just go play whenever I was ready. A nice threesome invited me to join them and off we went.

I don’t know anyone who considers this a favorite course, but it does have some fun and challenging holes in its very weird layout. Most of the course is narrow with some good blind shots and elevation changes. The ride through the sewer tunnels is always entertaining provided there isn’t a lot of stinky water in there.

Due to some crumbling hillsides, holes 5 & 6 are closed. Holes 9 and 10, which originally were par 5s, have each been split into a par 3 and 4. Conditions were pretty ok – actually about the best I’ve seen there. The fairways had very good grass coverage but there was way too much area that was so lumpy bumpy that severe ankle twistage was a real possibility. The greens varied from smooth and fast to scarred and slow. The sand in the bunkers was really good- deep, clean and soft. Overall the course looked nice with the vegetation between fairways and OB cut way back.

Played Shorecliffs because of the birthday golf special on Saturday. Staff was very nice and helpful, however the clubhouse and restaurant look very dated (as in the 60's) and are in need of the major... Continue »

Played Shorecliffs because of the birthday golf special on Saturday. Staff was very nice and helpful, however the clubhouse and restaurant look very dated (as in the 60's) and are in need of the major renovation. As for the course, there were some holes that were very challenging to the say the least. Yet that did not make up for the fact that the layout was confusing at times and that wasn't helped with the in-progress renovation of two holes. Fairways were ok, but you better be able to hit your ball straight and if not bring lots of balls to make up for the ones you will lose.
Greens were a mixed bag, some were fast and some were deceptively slow. In summary, this is a course that has a lot of potential but may have seen its best days a decade or so ago.

7/19 using tee off $23 with POP at 3 1/2 on a nice coolish morning. Fairways had good cover but most had not been mowed yet today so they tended to be on the shaggy side with very little roll out. Rough 1-2 inches retarding the ball and often providing a challenge to escape.
Tees have ok cover but depending on the marker placement the lack of level can come into play. Some bunkers have good sand and some are thin with hardpan.
Greens were softer slower and more bumpy than usual.
Good customer service as always friendly and easy going.

6/7 using teeoff $20 deal time rate on a cool am initially with some drizzle then just comfortable overcast conditions following a small group of mens club players leisurely with some waiting POP just over 4 hours. Fairways are in good condition mostly lush but with a few thin areas and the occasional bare spot--had really good lies nicely mowed thick grass with good cushion. Rough at 1-2 inches and a bit of a challenge depending on whether the ball sat up or sank. Tees ok but some a little thin and depending on marker placement some had slope issues. Bunker on #5(formerly #7--a par 3 had well groomed good quality ample sand--#12 left greenside bunker upper area was thin with hard pan base.
Greens were medium fast got a little quicker as they dried--look healthy with with tight grass that barely shows a ball mark but is quite receptive.
Friendly staff providing a nice welcome.
