I'm not sure about pfuzzard's expectations, but I played it on Jan 6 (for free!) and found the course to be in pretty good shape. The course is in way better shape than San Juan right now. A few of the greens were not very lush, but they rolled fairly true, with no bare spots in the fairways that I recall. We had to wait a bit on the front 9, but had very little waiting on the back. Overall, a good day.

Played at 9am today for FREE!!! CreekCard appreciation outing. FREE Golf. I have played here every week for the past two months. Early morning and late morning tee times. The greens are in much better shape in the morning than they are the later you tee off. They are pretty wet and soft and will show more wear later in the day. Overall I think the course was in good shape. Service is always good. Chris, Rob and Steven in the pro shop are quality guys. Cart guy out front went out of his way to find some personal property I left in the cart. Good job. A great FREE Golf day. A side note...They have not moved the pins on the puttting green for at leasst a week. They are really showing some wear around those practice pins.

Tijeras Creek is now well beyond 'iffy' and into 'sucky'. Played 1/2/09 and conditions were sub-par, tee to green. Greens: grainy to the point where you have to just get it close, cuz it's only going in if you have some luck ... tee boxes: a bit beat up ... bunkers: jeez, worst I've ever seen here ... fairways: matted down a bit but at least manageable. Actually, I don't mind the conditions as much as having to pay the green fees they charge (even WITH the Creek Card). Still a great layout, a nice place, but I might have to wait until Spring to come again.

Played today at 11:40. Course was wet from rains earlier in the week. CPO. I had two sand saves so I thought the sand was playing pretty well all things considered. No standing water but there was some very wet spots in the bunkers. The two lies I had were very good. (Missed it to the right part of the bunker). Greens started out pretty slow but sped up as the day went on. Beautiful views of snow covered Santiago Peak and Saddleback mountain. Customer service was first rate. Kevin and Justin at the starter's table were great to pick up bags and clean clubs afterward. Great golfing experience.

Course was in good shape except for around the greens. Many low wet areas, Inconsistent and poor sand conditions, and the greens were avg speed and bumpy. The rest of the course was very good. Over all i was happy with the experience. I believe that the greens and green side bunkers should be better for the price they charge. The practice green were not much help getting us ready for the round, since they were very smooth and fast. Glad to play this course but it isn't one of my favorites. Just to hard to go out and enjoy your round if you are having a below avg day. Traps were the bigest disapointment for me a couple of the greenside bunkers were just the consistancy of mud.

Thanks to Johnny and the staff at Tijeras Creek! You guys certainly know how to throw a GK Casual Outing! This course is in very good shape considering the time of year. Greens were fantastic as they were diabolical. Undulating greens though ran VERY true if not quick. Had no problem putting as I was able to see the line and execute. Greens are not too punishing but you do have to mind the break as some holes have some wicked undulations and speed to them. High shots were rewarded with good release. Low flying shots gave the ball a chance to run off green. Fairways were very nice. Well maintained. Sand in bunkers were a bit thin towards middle and back end of bunkers but somewhat dealable. Tee boxes were well rotated and flat. Staff was VERY attentive. From the club house to the food service not a bad venue, someone there knows how to train their people to be attentive. Saw cart girl make the circut around the course 4 times during round.

As for the course. Must say that course knowledge is key. Holes like 9 look fairly narrow from tee box but have actually rather wide landing areas. I was chatting with my playing partner about blue tee set up b/c appearently a lot of the bunkers come into play from blues. So if you drive the ball around 245-260 you're in trouble from the blues. If you play blacks or whites these hazzards do NOT come into play. What he said actually made sense as we proceeded to hit bunker after bunker. Very challenging round to say the least. The tale of two nines is pretty much how to sum up the course. First 9 you get holes that snake through homes. The second 9 provides you spectacular vistas with a history lesson thrown in. If you doubt me check out the stone markers on holes 11 and 12 (I think). Why anyone would put a mission in the middle of nowhere is beyond me. Aside from that play was OK, a little slow as we tried to beat the sun setting. Pace of play for a tournament (5 hours or a little less -- finished around 4:30 PM). Great course to consider returning if not to exact my newfound course knowledge and get a little payback :D

Course is in great shape. I agree with paisano there were a few extra divots on the tee boxes. Especially on the par 3's and shorter par 4's where you need to hit an iron to place your drive for a good yardage on your second shot. But the divots did not disrupt play at all. I thought the greens would be bumpier because of our late start. I did see a couple of putts jump off line but our group had 7 birds including two long bombs so I say the greens were rolling just fine.
Customer service was great. Cart guys out front, marshal on the course and the beverage cart girl came by 3 or 4 times. Y'all missed out on the BBQ at the turn. Just about the best course burgers around. It wasn't operational today. Inside staff is very friendly. Bar service was quick and efficient. Mexican buffet was plentiful and tasty. Weather was perfect. Be sad very sad that you missed out on this outing.
