Today was the first time I played Tijeras after several years of meaning to. It had been one of my buddy's favorite courses, so I was looking forward to playing. The first thing I noticed was the indifference of the staff. It was almost like you were inconveniencing them by being there. We were also paired with a couple of very beginner golfers, and that made for a very long and slow round. We only saw the drink cart 2 times all day. The front nine is a normal, run-of-the-mill set of holes, where you can get the same feel at Camarillo Springs, River Ridge or Knollwood for much less money. The back 9 is much more interesting. There are a couple of interesting par 3's and 4's. The greens could stand some marshalling, as there are many unfixed ball marks around. Overall, the greens just looked a little neegelected. On the upside, the fairways and rough were really nice, they are generous with yardage markers on sprinklers. Luckily I had a half off coupon which made it $40. I can't say that it would be worh $80.

Played here for the first time......interesting course....like others have said the front and back 9's are like two totally different courses with entirely different personalities. Course was in great shape.....fairways nicely groomed and greens were in good shape. Both were dry and fast. If you could keep your drives in the middle of these firm fairways, you would get a lot of roll.
The back 9 was indeed tough being the first time I played here and not knowing the layout, however the beauty of most of the holes made me forget about all the balls I left in the canyons and bushes! Maybe next time I will keep score for all 18 holes and not stop like I did after 12 holes.

Course in great condition overall. Course has dried out from the rains and is playing in great condition.

The recent rains and the overseeding done 2 months ago have made this course very nice and green. The longer it does not rain the faster these greens become. The front 9 is long and is similiar to a course in Palm Springs with houses on both sides of the fairway. The back 9 is actually easier for a low handicapper or a straight hitter because the holes on this side seem to yield more pars and birdies. A not so straight hitter will probably lose a few balls into the O'Neill Regional Park on the back 9.

Great day at Tijeras. Very lush. Rough is thick and high. First green is a little thin and fast, but the rest were perfect. Fairways awesome. I joined Creek club. Major deal. It's awesome for $60 (creek club discount); $80 is steep, but I wouldn't pay $80 anywhere. It's a great course. Customer service was fabulous, except for the marshall who sat by the 10th green blabbling on his cell phone!!!

Hmmm. I don't know about this one. Two very different nines. Front nine layout is quite good. Great routing of the holes and very appealing to the eye for the landing areas, but the homes really detract from it. Back nine, very scenic but very confusing to the eye from the tee boxes. It's really hard to get comfortable on the tee box, it's like you are just teeing off into the canyon. It's definitely worth it to play it but there are much better layouts in SoCal. I was also a little disappointed with the overseeding. Some of the fairways were a little thin. By now the overseeding should be lush.

no damage from rains. front nine fairways are still fuzzy. haven't been mowed real close yet cuz still wet. they just mowed back nine fairways. greens were in good shape. way too many players crammed on course, but, it was sunday. we teed off 30 minutes late and barely finished. sunday golf. what are you gonna do?
