I don't know what course some of the critics are playing when they critique Tijeras but our foresome was totally impressed with the play today. The only downside was the cart path only policy and the wet spots on the tee boxes and fairways BUT I KNOW IT WAS ALL DUE TO THE RAINS EARLIER THIS WEEK. Otherwise, the service was grand, the conditions were great and the course is beautiful. Will play again often. Too bad it's so far from my house.

We played Sunday, 11/14, after it rained the previous day (some). Parts of the fairways and rough looked like they had been drenched - standing water, very muddy. The greens still showed signs from aeration, although the effect on putts was slight. Our tee time was 11:50 and we didn't finish until after sundown - over 5 hours. I could understand that, since it was a weekend, but they should make their twilight rate start time realistic - more like 11:30. If you pay full price, you should not expect to race the sun and lose! In general, not a bad layout, but not worth $100.

New management co. OB Sports gives Creekcard members benefits at their other facilities!! Definitely makes it even more worth it if they don't raise the price of the membership.

First time playing here. Nice variety of holes. Very scenic stuff on back nine. Greens had a light layer of sand on them. Didn't really affect roll. I imagine they'll be overseeding soon as some of the fairways were a little dry. Not worth $80, but 1/2 half golf extra $40 is great. More character than nearby Arroyo Trabuco, but not for $80.

You get to distinct front and back nines here. The Lake nine requires length. The Canyon nine requires lots of accuracy. In fact you don't really use your driver that much if you are not playing the black tees. There are four great par 3's out here. On many holes the farther you go the narrower the fairway gets due to bunkering or lateral hazards. The greens are nice, easy to read, and don't have much break to them. Tees and fairways are not that great. It is easy to get a thin lie in the fairway.

Made my biannual trip to the local course last week. And for the 10th straight time, I continue to be amazed at the less-than-stellar conditions.

Fairways and rough are in poor condition. Fairways have many bare spots. The rough is a varied mix of clump grass, weeds, hardpan and mud.

Greens and tees are extremely nice. The new bunkers are a nice change.

Still an "only at a big discount" course.

I played this course for the first time yesterday. It is the best conditioned course I've played in the area. The front nine is more player friendly than the back, but the back is more scenic. The course is not tricked-up, although there are several holes on the back nine which require some course experience to play most strategically. The staff was very friendly. The advice the starter gave about playing the yardage and ignoring the wind and slope on the par 3's was dead on. Pace of played was slow on the first few holes, and on a few holes on the back nine, but overall the pace was fine, even though marshall sightings were few and far between. I look forward to playing this one on a regular basis.
