We had a tee time on South course, but the starter warned us we'd be behind a tournament and they regularly play 6 hour rounds (uh, the course should do something about THAT!). So, they suggested we play the North course. Woman behind counter told us they'd punched 10 days ago and the greens were recovering nicely, but were still a little bumpy. Little? They are not even close to healing. But, I won't complain any more since they only charged us $11 to walk. If I'd paid full price, I'd have been pissed. Then again, I chose to play there.

In any case, everything else is in good shape. Rough was tough. Give the greens two more weeks to heal. Upcoming rains should help.

Conditions are fine for this time of year. Yes, the greens are a little bumpy. I don't think they have a rolling machine to roll greens here. That'd be nice. They've done alot of work on the fairways and they are improved. They punched the tee boxes today during our round. Bunkers are nightmare inconsistent, as usual. Customer service is always great.

Played Sunday, May 16. Decent pace for a Sunday. Good customer service. Fairways were hard so lots of roll. Some of the greens were incredibly lumpy but I've always found the greens here to be many times suspect at best. Especially 17. Like putting on grandma's thighs! Traps were in great condition. It's a good value.

Played the south course on 3/16. Like previous poster, I too hadn't played it in a while. I like the changes to #8. This course is a great challenge. wind was up. Greens were hard, but rolled very true. great views of the snow capped mountains. pro shop staff was great, but missed the super hot counter gal who was working there last time! $29 to walk. a deal! play it before they punch on the 30th.

Played Sunday, 1/31 at 11am. Great conditions. Quick, hard greens. Pace of play could have been a little faster, but we were on vacay so no worries. Customer service was great. Nice variety of holes. Good challenge. Course knowledge would have helped alot but we'll have that next trip. Great deal with the OB Sports Creek Card (from Tijeras Creek in So. Cal). We played Angel Park for $55 on Sunday with out Creek Card discount. Course well worth that. I'd definitely recommend the course. Stay BELOW the hole on all greens!!!

Customer service here is always great. I'm in Men's club here and play it all the time. Monday the pins were wicked! Every pin was no more than 2-3 paces off the edge of each green. Loved the challenge. Greenskeeper of the course...if you're reading these pages take note that many who play the course are unhappy with state of the fairways. They're either muddy or hardpan with NUMEROUS dirt bare spots. Most of the landing areas on #3, #4, especially #8, #10 are atrocious, and all the patchwork sod "laid down" on #17 is uneven and even sticks up higher than the "turf" around it. For as great as the greens are, the fairways are the complete opposite and just horrible. I imagine the choice was $ for clubhouse and range or $ for overseeding. Management chose the prior. We'd really like to hear and maybe you could speak to it through this forum (or on the course's Facebook page) why the fairways are so shoddy. And I can't imagine it's a time of year thing as most of the spots I'm referencing have absolutely NO GRASS at all on them. You guys are competing with Tijeras/Arroyo Trabuco. Right now the conditions at Tijeras are perfect; they overseeded. I much prefer San Juan, but conditions don't support the choice sometimes. Don't focus so much on amenities in that competition with TC and Arroyo; focus on the course! We really care about conditions and our course. Not looking for perfection, but at least some turf in the landing areas would be nice. Thanks!

Played last Saturday and Sunday in the Men's Club Oktoberfest tourney. First off, staff does a great job of making sure everything runs without a glitch. John and Ray are always friendly and professional. The new pro shop is open. Very nice. Hopefully they'll overseed this year but imagine all that money went to the pro shop!...

Course conditions...fairways are spotty at best. Many dead areas. And, some silly areas where new squares of sod have been laid, but they're 3 inches think so they're basically raised pads of grass that aren't consistent with the rest of the fairway. You can hit a nice drive and be penalized with dead hardpan in middle of some fairways.

As bad as the fairways are, the greens are just the opposite. Sunday they were running extremely fast! The greens are always the best part of this course.

Bunkers, well, they've never been consistent here and imagine they never will be. I've been playing here for almost 10 years and they've always been hit or miss. Either hard dark "dirt" or overly soft beach sand. Avoid them at all costs.

Tee boxes were recently shaved super low and punched. I'd assume that means they're overseeding them, but there was no sign of overseeding them yet. Careful, you can slip on some of them as some are just dirt/sand.

All said, it's a friendly, for the majority, well maintained course.

Course in decent shape. Greens are always very "iffy" here. Very bumpy and slow. #10 green had been aerated with small holes. Lots of bare spots on the greens. Rest of course is in average shape.

Good conditions for this time of year. Greens rolled nicely. Everything is very wet. They are completely redoing the #1 green complex so there's a temp green about 460 yards out from the blues.

All fine except bunkers. These are the worst bunkers around. Either hard pan with a mud base or a foot of dense beach sand. Horrible, horrible bunkers.

Can't complain at all. Good conditions. Good customer service. Good pace of play. Some bunkers had minimal sand but all were raked and well maintained. They are redoing 8th green complex so bulldozer in fairway digging area for temp green. We'd play here anytime.
