Played 8-22-12 with Cpennbo. Conditions were a bit disappointing. Tee boxes are covered in clover and many have no grass left. Bunkers were hard packed in fairways but softer around greens. Greens were very receptive though a little slower than desert greens usually are. There were many large dead areas some that were dirt only. Billy Casper Golf is not impressing me by a long shot. Between Ashwood and Green Tree they have all but ruined two nice courses. BUMMER!

Played 12/11/2011 in the morning and thank God some else bought my round $41 to play executive course when there are full length courses within a few minutes away for less than $30. No way was the green fee worth it. The tee boxes were nice and level, the fairways were great except for large amount of divots in certain areas. The rough was nice and long yet not too long to lose balls in. The greens were disappointing, they were too soft, mushy, and a lot of ball marks. The worst part about the course was the sand traps. Are group took drops out of the bunkers because they are filled with gravel and sand. I would recommend looking elsewhere to play.

Played Birch 9 to Sycamore 9 on 10/8/11. Course is in great shape right now. Everything is nice and green, however they did punch some fairways and rough. Greens rolled great and held all shots. Rough seemed a little shorter than usual on some holes making it a little easier if I missed the fairway. Lots of bunkers on all 3 9's and most of them have sand but it is pretty hard packed, at least the ones I was in. Lots of water holes and doglegs making for some good risk reward holes. Still love this course.

Played Sat. 9-24-11. This is a fun executive course. Conditions are really good now. On the Birch course the bunkers were hard packed but on Mesquite they were soft and perfect. The only other negative I can give Birch is that some of the fairways are so hard that it makes taking a divot very difficult and tends to cause a little bounce from the ground. You must focus on hitting all ball or else.
Greens were as good as I've seen here. Shots were sticking and putts were rolling true.
Sent us out as a 2some and we ended up having the 2some behind join up as we were waiting on the group in front. Then had a very slow single in front on the back 9. Seems strange to send out a single on a Saturday but it wasn't that busy so I guess I can understand. Now if Billy Casper Golf can just fix the mess they made of Greentree I will have a much better opinion of them.

Played 9/24. Overall the course is in great condition!! Beautiful! Except the sand. The sand is AWFUL. Huge rocks everywhere and packed solid like concrete. Some of the traps on Mesquite had nice fluffy white sand in them but every one on Birch was beyond terrible. Enjoyed the round but would've enjoyed it more if we'd ever seen a marshal. Saturday and no marshal at all? There were some pretty slow groups out that could've used a marshal's visit. On the back nine we were behind a SINGLE who was slower than a 5some! He had many opportunities to allow us to play through but nope. No etiquette. Maybe he was learning and didn't know. He surely played like he was learning! Again a marshal could've given him some advice without embarrassing him.

Played 1/29/11. Once again I had a great time. Customer service is always great but it does usually take longer to check in at this course than any other one. Not quite sure why but I don't mind. Due to the frost and cool weather course is brown but still very lush and tee times don't start till 9am. Tee boxes, Fairways and greens were great. Some thin areas when it came to the rough and some traps have a whole lot of rocks in them (mainly the fairway bunkers). Wind picked up when we reached the 6th whole and continued to blow the remainder of our round. The wind can get pretty bad here especially since the wind is in your face on a lot of the holes. Downwind I have no complaints after a 370 yard drive which ended up rolling into the rough. Wind even affected the putting and that is when my score started going up. Still had a good time though and as always I will be back up here soon. P.S. the snack bar/cafe has some great burgers but don't order if you are in a rush. The same person who takes your order also does the cooking so with other people coming in and ordering we waited at least 20 mins for our food.

Ashwood in my opinion is a great executive course that is well worth its greens fees even though i still use CFTT. This course has been in great condition since the first time I played here about 2 or 3 years ago. Back to the course for this round, Greens were punched about 3 weeks ago and have healed up great. Greens are pretty soft and you can definitely stick it from almost any lie at any distance. Fairways as always were in great shape and if they had cart paths the entire length of the hole then I'm sure they would be even nicer. Rough in some areas will get you, if you can find your ball, so one of my biggest tips is stay out of the thick stuff haha. The first cut of rough is still good though and you can still play some great shots out of it. My biggest and only problem with the course are the tee boxes. Yes they are level but man are they firm. Make sure to bring some smaller tees for the par 3's and when hitting a wood off the tee cause all I had were long tee's and I couldn't push my tee down to where I wanted it so I was scavenging and using broken tees left there. If you are ever tight on cash and want to play a really nice and somewhat short course this is a great place to work on all of your irons.

The course was in great shape tee to green, although the greens were shaggy, slow, and bumpy. Pace of play was a little slow. Had a good experience overall and I'll be back.
