Played 6/22. This is a nice and challenging course, but once again, it could be a lot better if the golfers would police themselves. Some of the greens had excessive ball markings and some of the tees had numerous unfilled scars.

This arroyo bordered course features very firm and fast greens that roll very true. Bring an extra couple of balls :) Played in 4.5 hrs.

Overall, the staff was excellent and I would visit again.

Played Friday, June 13. Made the 70 mile trip from OC. The customer service is great. The course layout is difficult (see slope) especially since most holes have hazards/OB left or right or both. Overall I enjoyed the layout.

For this time of year and the cost to play ($65 on Friday) I expect conditions to be a bit better. The Tees and bunkers are great. The greens are medium/fast and roll nicely. But they are very firm. Even a high wedge shot leaves only a small ball mark. The firmness isn't ridiculous you just need to land short of the hole. The fairways are a little thin in a few spots but playable. The ruff around the greens is lush but along the fairways it varies from lush to thin.

Since I had not played the course before it was worth the drive and green fee. If I lived closer to Arrowood I might play it occasionally but I wouldn't drive 70 miles to play it again unless the course becomes lush.

Teed off on Sunday, May 25, at 8:15am. Steady amount of play yet the pace-of-play was outstanding: our foursome finished in 4 hours, 20 minutes. Would like to see this be the rule rather than the exception; must consider that an earlier tee time probably lends itself to quicker play as opposed to a 10:00 or 11:00 start time, particularly on the weekend. No walkers in sight either, which also helps keep things moving.

Golf course was in very good shape, particularly the greens, although they were quite firm and it took a well-struck shot to hold the ball near its' pitch mark. Spinning chip shots from around the green held well while the shots that were lofted on a higher trajectory were tougher to stop. Firmness of the greens was evident when repairing ball marks.

Green speed was good, quicker than most of the courses I've played lately, yet not so fast that you were putting defensively. That was an issue only if you happened to get above the hole in a sloped area of the green. Greens looked great and rolled smooth and very true. Even though it's been weeks since they were aerated, the number of untended ball marks on the greens were minimal, although a few of them did have tendency to knock a couple of putts off line. Still, the staff appears to be doing a nice job of keeping the greens in fine shape. One of the marshalls explained that they have a special ball mark repair tool that they use, when time permits, as they make their rounds. Nice idea that more courses should adopt as too many golfers continue to ignore their pitch marks on the greens.

Sand quality was good and fairly consistent. Rough is a bit spotty in places where your ball may roll into a depression, requiring a steep approach in order to hit a good shot. Fairways were in very good condition with few, if any, bare spots. Turf is tight, as usual.

I would say Arrowood is definitely worth checking out these days as the course conditions and pleasant, courteous staff all add up to an enjoyable day of golf. The layout presents a fair challenge and is fun to play, especially when the wind is a factor. Looking forward to returning soon.

Course was a little on the rough side fairways were brown in some spots rough was patchy and bare. The greens were really firm but in nice condition. The sand traps were the best thing of the day they were the sandiest condition, however i was never in one but if i was it looked fun. I hope they take better care of this course I really love the lay ouy and enjoy playing this course. Hopefully jc will get on it. Shot an 82 so I had fun........... Dave Z

Bunkers are in nice shape. This course would be phenomenally better if they'd just enforce their pace of play program. Nothing like waiting 10 minutes on every tee box to get you off your game.

Played @ 9:45. Course is interesting. Alot of short holes that demand accuracy. Bombers who hit it straight will have a lot of little wedges. Greens were 1/2 punched making speed tricky if your 1st putt started in the punched area. Course has hard fairways (no thatch). Greens were pretty hard as well yet the ball checked pretty good. Greens were pretty true (not real fast not real slow) Deep (I mean DEEP) bunkers on some holes. You really don't need a driver on most of the holes. Once you know the course, its there for the taking.

The fairways were hard and tight and in good condition. If you not in the fairway good luck on finding your ball. Greens were very tricky yet true and fast. Greens will be punched next week.
