Got home early enough today (4/20) to get a match play practice round in for Rstang06 @ 2:40 (grabbed a course website online deal $20 w/cart, at check out saved another $10, so both of us played for $30 w/cart...can't beat that with a stick. This was one of the original 'learner' courses I played (once), about 6 years ago. Local very casual (atmosphere/attire vibe) short course...But don't let that fool you. Heck, just make the green in one and allow 2 putts to the hole for standard Par or Birdies, and you're golden! ;)
Quaint clubhouse/pro shop. Very pleasant young man assisted with check in, and advised course was open if we wanted to head out a little early. They do have a driving range (off grass) behind the Building. We went out cold just to get through the round (we should've warmed up). 2 balls lost/OB. Tee boxes showed signs of use, lots of divot damage due majority of Par 3 holes, many a bit unlevel. Fairways, hard/very thin. Bare areas throughout. Rough, playable but sparse. Greens were Beautiful! Very soft, receptive, but many sloped back down towards hazards penalizing even a great shot. Tricky to read. Ran very slow and broke significantly. Pin placement on some of the holes sloping down to the water will certainly make or break even the best game. Fun little course to hone your iron game and putting prowess. :) Popular with the locals for an after work quick round for sure. Oh, wind stays behind you typically on the front nine assisting with distance; and either cross or in your face on the back 9. Neat little short course, very casual, and welcoming. Just this novice golfin gals thoughts. :)

Great course for beginners or those just wanting to practice their short game and get some fresh air. Reasonably priced and not crowded, so all in all a decent experience

I was eager to get the bad taste of Center City GC out of my mouth, so I headed up the street to Emerald Isle. A step up for sure, but not by a ton. I had purchased the recent GroupGolfer deal ($17, any time with cart and range balls). I didn't bother with the range balls and went right out to the first tee around 8:15. The pace was slow at times playing through a couple groups, but finished 18 in a little under 2.5 hours.

The course was in OK shape, but not very pretty looking. It could be a nice little par-3 course, but the maintenance is pretty mediocre outside of the greens. The greens were soft and a bit slow, but really nice-looking and pretty smooth surfaces throughout. The rest of the grass on the course was mostly brown and inconsistent. I wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked decent enough. A number of very unlevel tee boxes and they were mostly quite chewed up.

All but one of the water hazards that should provide a nice "look" to this little course are completely empty and dried out. It's a par-56 with two very short par-4s. The 2nd hole is only 195 from the blues and provides the easiest eagle opportunity you'll ever have. The other par-4 is just 245 and slightly downhill from tee to green. Otherwise, the front nine is a decent mix of distances while the back is more short (90-110 yards) other than a couple mid-length holes. Overall, pretty unexciting. Good place for beginners. Like I said, could be a decent little short course with better upkeep, but it has a long ways to go.

You may have to share the course with Frisbee golfers, but on the whole they're a decent group, well-versed in golf etiquette. The greens are lush and the tee boxes are sometimes undulating... I play it regularly because it's such a deal. For 17 bucks on a weekday morning I can hit a bucket of balls and walk 18, and be done in an hour and a half or so...

Played this course a few weeks ago with my 91 year old Grandfather-in-law. This is a great little executive par 3 type course with a couple of par 4's thrown in. Some of the holes are a good challenge with having to shoot over water. Be prepared to loose a ball or two on this course. Rates are great and this course is never really crowded.

Played on a wet day just after a rain so the course was little soft and muddy in places. Overall, I thought this was a decent course with some tough par 3 holes over water. Lost more then a couple of balls on this course. Unless you are using the driving range, which is pretty short too, leave your driver at home. You won't need it. A great value and it is within walking distance of my wife's grandparents.

greens were in decent shape - relative to the rates and condition of the rest of the course at any rate

it's essentially a pitch/putt, so the rest of the course wasn't really maintained. there are 2 par 4 holes though, and the "fairways" are pretty gnarly

tee boxes need to be leveled, badly

but, if you just want to go practice your irons and don't want to slap down a bunch of dough, it's okay - you pretty much get what you pay for here
