Played 1/2/08 @ 8:00. Course is playing very TOUGH! Its imperative that you hit fairways Greens are in decent conditions (they were better a month ago). Side note- Mickelson was two groups behind us & it looked like he wasn't playing that well. Alot of construction going on because of the Buick @ the end of the month. Bring you A game or it will be a long day. Make sure you play the right tees for your game. Leave your ego @ home!

Teed off at 9:30 on Saturday and man did this round seem to take forever. At the beginning of the round the greens seemed really soft but as it warmed up it seemed to dry out a little and pick up the pace. The rough is certainly growing out, it took all four people in our group sometimes to find each others shot. Definitely keep your eye on your shot. Worth the value for a SD resident.

Walked on during the weekday and got right on as a 4 some. The course is in nice shape. The greens were fast and the rough is was thick. Keep your eyes on your ball if its not in the fairway. First time playing at Torrey Pines and most likely my last unless someone else pays. Don't get me wrong the course is nice and a "must play" but it's really expensive for anybody but San Diego residents. So, just take in the views and enjoy the experience and not think about the greens fees.

Teed off a little after 10 on Sunday as a threesome. The course was scattered with other foursome, threesome, and twosomes (probably b/c the Chargers were playing at home). We finished in about 4 3/4 hours and could have finished faster except there was a very slow group about 4 groups ahead and there was no marshall out there. I posted a comment on the North as well and the parking lot is finished and open. As far as the conditions of the South I agree with all of the recent comments. The course is about as good as it will get for us non-professionals. The greens had decent speed, the fairways were cut nice, the rough was a little thick and the sand was pretty soft. For the price it is the best deal for a SD resident.

Played 11/19 @ 8:30. Course is still in great shape. I hope they continue the good work. Rough is getting thicker. Advice, don't try to be a HERO. Take your medicine and play for a bogey if you care about your score. If you're not a decent driver of the ball, play somewhere else. A guy in my group quit mid-way through the 6th hole. It can be very frustrating for some. Greens are in Great shape. If you play 18 holes w/out a three putt you have putted well. Tees are tour quality. All in all, its worth every dollar I spent ($42 walking).

Played the South for the first time at noon on 11/7/07 on a cool, overcast day. With a couple of high handicappers, we finished in 5 hrs. A beautiful layout, the course itself was challenging but in great shape with a tough but fair rough, and lightning quick greens. I found myself in greenside bunkers too many times, but they played true.

Amazing experience at $42 to walk for a city resident. IMHO, rates seem a bit steep for out-of-towners but the demand seems to be there.

$145.00 for non residents to walk a U.S. Open course. This course is in PGA shape right now thanks to Candice the greenskeeper. The USGA is out here all the time and staying on top of things. I play here alot and will tell you that now is the time to play. Everything is in good condition and the greens are smooth and FAST! If yer in so so shape I suggest a cart. It's worth every dime right now and you can think back to your time at Torrey while you watch the US Open this June. You can walk right on if you get here by 5:30 or 6 am.

I agree with the last comments made. Quite simply this is the best condition I have played here (or maybe its just been so long since I've seen these type of conditions here). Got off on Sunday at 8:20 and we finished at around 5 hours. I've always said that for a city resident this course is worth the green fee but as a non-resident it is up for debate. The greens were fast, in fact I consider myself a decent putter and had 36 putts. The rough was thick in most places and the fairways were nice. I'm certainly going to try to get back out here.
