Played this course for the first time in December. There had been some rain in the previous days, but the course was in excellent condition. One of the most scenic courses that I have played. Holes cut right next to the ocean are spectacular. Beautiful course that plays very fair for all handicap levels.

The layout overcomes anything you might want to complain about. No wind off the ocean this day but imagine if the course raised up would play 5-10 strokes tougher.
Biggest challenge are the greens- fast fast + a lot of break. Can spray it around a bit and not get hurt.
Customer service top notch and if there is a way you can get out to play this course- do it.

We played on Monday November 5th with a midmorning tee time. It took us just under 4 hours to play the course. The staff here were very friendly. The clubhouse was not something to write home about. I've seen nicer clubhouses back home in Los Angeles.

As far as course conditions, the fairways were in good condition although there were a lot of areas marked as ground under repair or the fairways were bare/hardpan. The sand in the bunkers were very light/soft (a lot lighter than the sand back in LA). The greens were very hard and fast. We found that we didn't need to repair our balls marks on the greens. We were a bit surprised for a high end golf course that there were no GPS in the carts. On the back 9, there were several holes right near the ocean which makes for a nice view.

This was our first time playing here. It was nice to try but next time if we are in the area, we would rather play La Purisima. The layout on the course got a little boring at times for us especially on the front 9. We didn't think it was worth the green fees to play here at regular price.

I really enjoy this course. Played first off so pace was not an issue. Greens and fairways are in great shape right now.

Great value if you play twilight on the weekdays. A great course all in all. I just wish the 18th hole wasn't a par 3! That's the course's biggest flaw.

Had a 2:30 or so tee time on Monday the 28th of May. 1st tee box backed up a bit... knew I was in for a long round. Finished #1 and there were three groups waiting to tee off on #2.

Had a 2:30 or so tee time on Monday the 28th of May. 1st tee box backed up a bit... knew I was in for a long round. Finished #1 and there were three groups waiting to tee off on #2.

Turned the cart around, went back to the clubhouse, got my $$$ back. Left about 3 PM, drove up to Lompoc, teed off at La Purisima at 4 PM and fit 18 in w/nary another sole on the course. Much better course than the 'piper anyways.

I had not played this course for a few years, but made the one hour drive from Calabasas to play 36 holes on Monday (June 4th). Although I had good memories of the course, I had forgotten what a high-quality facility Sandpiper really is. As noted previously, the clubhouse / grill are nothing to right home about from a physical standpoint. Aesthetic aspects aside, I cannot remember a friendlier or more accommodating staff in any recent rounds on courses I have played from San Diego to Santa Clarita. Granted Monday is a slow day of the week; however, having a staff actually appreciate your business is something that is unfortunately rarer than it should be.

The course itself is in great shape and the greens are among the best I have played. The layout is strong. The course reminds me of Torrey Pines with the exception that the holes are bunched a bit closer together. The fairways were in considerably better shape (not soggy) than when I played a few years ago. I need to put this course into the rotation more frequently.

Played on 5/19 in the morning. Best golf experience in the last 12 months!!! Staff was awesome. Arrived at 625 am as a single. Their first tee time on the books is 7am. Even though another group of quasi members had already taken the "off the books" tee time that goes off before the 7am group, the guy running the pro shop let me go off before that group. I was supposed to go ahead of them by myself, but two other walk ons showed up prior to 645 and the starter basically told me, just tee off with those two and then you can just go ahead of them by yourself.

Teed off with those two and then played the rest of the round alone in just over 2 hours. Major kudos to the staff. Customer care is the most important part of running a golf course that is usually overlooked by staff. This is certainly not the case at Sandpiper! I can't say enough good things about this staff. Had they not allowed me to go off before everyone else, I would have not been able to play today. The staff listened to me when I explained this and completely hooked me up. I will recommend this course to everyone visiting this area from Orange County.

As for the conditions...excellent. Tee boxes were immaculate and level. Fairways were green and cut tight with only a couple of minor bad patches. Greens are completely recovered from aeration and rolled about 9 or 10, not bumpy at all. Rough was not very punitive but deep enough to keep errant tee shots from rolling into laterals. Views on 11, 12, and 13 were amazing.

I highly recommend this course and it was well worth the greens fee.
