With most of the Vegas tracks in various stages of overseed maintenance, along with a limited window to play, I decided to try out Durango Hills GC. Durango Hills is a par 58 executive course owned by the City of Las Vegas, ran by OB Sports, and situated around a YMCA just outside of the Summerlin neighborhoods.

Booked a morning tee time through their phone app for $21. Customer service is limited, check in was fast, picked a cart, and waited for the loudspeaker announcement to head off to the 1st tee. There's a 3 bay hitting net to warm up with and a small practice green. No drink cart, but water is staged around the course and there is a bar/grill to grab something before heading out or at the turn. Pace was slower than I was expecting at 3:40, including an over 2 hour back 9. We trailed a 2some that quit after 9, then a 4some, and waited on every tee box.

The course completed re-seeding almost a month ago and is looking good from tee to the green. Tee boxes were level and relatively divot free for having 14 Par 3 holes. The fairways of the Par 4s and the areas leading to the greens of the Par 3s were lush and the grass has grown in nicely with no thin areas. This course is perfect for short game practice but unfortunately, that's the area where the course was hurting. Bunkers (and there are plenty) were mostly hard packed with some rocks. The greens were very disappointing, with most holes lacking grass on at least 50% of the green. Lots of dirt and patches of grass.

I really want to like this course. They have a variety to the holes, with different looks from the tee and various bunker designs to make you think where you want to miss. Until the greens get fixed, I'll avoid it.
