This is where I should have played in the morning instead of Huukan. No contest there, but it ended up working out well. There was plenty of daylight late Sunday (2/16) afternoon, I decided to do a drive by and check out this course. As I pulled up, I could see the course was looking nice and green and there was nobody on it. There were only a handful of cars in the parking lot, so I decided to give it a go. The price was $55, which seemed rather steep for that late in the day. It was nice having the course all to myself (I did see a couple groups on 17/18 as I was making the turn) and I got around quickly. The course was in really nice shape. Good tee boxes, excellent fairways and great greens. Sand traps good, as well. Around the fairways, the rough had kind of a semi-dormant look with a mix of brown and green. It was cut low and not much of a factor. Around the greens, it was thick, green and lush, so recovery shots were tough. The layout is solid with a pretty benign links design. It winds through a neighborhood that looks to be in the early stages of development, so the houses are pretty spread out and there are some other open areas that look graded for new construction. As it is now, you have a lot of great unobscured views of the mountains surrounding the course. Lots of flowers mixed in with the native grasses for aesthetic framing. The layout won't wow you and it's pretty forgiving from tee to green, but it's a solid course and the conditioning is great (same management as Laughlin Ranch). Only hole I didn't like was the par-5 5th which is an odd design with a pond cutting across the middle of the fairway (that you can't see from the tee) that forces a lay-up unless you can fly your drive 300-plus.

Played in Pioneer Casino's River Ricks Golf tournament and this was the 1st of 2 courses we played. Course was in great shape after coming out of heavy reseeding. This course is typically an easy to moderate course of play; nothing major in the way of difficulty; wide open; however, my husband (a long hitter) will tell you the fairways are narrow and not very forgiving with errant shots ending up either OB or in the daisies ;) Easy fix...hit em down the middle ;) Anyway, this was a tourney event and all was set up quite well. I will say however, on several down sides... No Ball washers on the course/No Trash Cans on the course/No water coolers on the course/No GPS in the carts/Only one Unisex potty. But, this is still a fun track. Greens ran sloooooooow uphill and quick down. Level, no ball damage, quite firm so you no Maverick shots (low/fast approach) to the green or you'd be on and off again in the blink of an eye. I truly enjoy desert courses as the ball flight and bump run roll you typically get is significantly more than here in the local SoCal course we play. BUT...I will say...Fighting the 20 to 30 MPH W I N D S was NOT fun. Not the courses fault, but I truly learned not to give anyone grief for whining about 'a little wind'. Never played in conditions where you could barely stand still to hit the ball IF you could even keep it on the tee. I was even more in shock after pulling out another score of 99 (2nd time I've ever broken 100; and both times were within the same month - Wahoo!) Okay...back to the review...sorry guys...a girl thing. ;) Clubhouse is Wonderful by the way. Overall ... Greens were typically slow/firm/rolled true; Bunkers were terrible as the wind ensures what little sand they put in them doesn't stay there long; fairways were wonderful-rolled out nicely and right up and on if you played it right; Tee boxes level and not terribly overplayed yet. Nice Practice facility. Bottomline (aside from the wind and No this and thats), I really enjoy this Golf course. A must play in Laughlin. Very Lady Friendly. :) EXCELLENT time of the year to play.

Played on June 25, 2011 with Moneysworth. Local rate of $30, makes this place a steal. I believe ther is a casino rate if you are in the Laughlin area on vacation. Greens were in great shape; medium fast and smooth Bermudagrass. You want to play early here in the summer unless you like the crazy heat-when we finished around 11:30 on Saturday it was near 110. Customer service was good. Misty was bartender and starter, pretty much running the whole show.

Like the course, play it every year that I go to Laughlin. Played it four times in the
week off my vacation.

Played on 3/26/2011. Course is in excellent condition. Nice layout, typical desert course with trouble on both sides of every fairway. Greens were slower than they looked, but still above average speed. Pace of play was a tale of 2 nines: we started on the back nine, due to a tournament on the front side, and finished in 1:40. Took 3:15 for the front, another tournament in the way. Was backed up 4 - foursomes on hole 2. Don't know if its always that way, so call ahead. Overall, a great combination of course and challenge, one to played when in the area.

I would like to give a second review on this course since I did play a second time, Sunday, April 18, 2010, from a different set of tees (blues). First off, we started around 8:00 a.m. and the local rate is $40, non-resident is $75 until 1:00 p.m. when rates are $40 for all. The course was in fine condition with lush fairways, great greens, etc... I may have failed to mention in my previous review the sand traps were in poor condition. Maybe it's because I was in about 3 of them this time. Dirt and small rocks were the norm. A couple of cart signs seemed to direct traffic too close to the greens, most notably #4, which had carts drive off between some fairway bunkers and the green, causing some wear and tear to that area. Another thing I may have failed to mention is the rough had been aerified. No biggie. All in all, a nice track here in the Laughlin area.

Reachable par 5's, and a couple of short par 4's could make it a pushover. A little tight in spots, but there are not very many homes built here yet. That may become a problem for the guys who spray shots.
