I hadn't played this course in 20 years but it's much like my memory served me. It's a great value course especially if you have a discount card. Greens were in good shape considering the time of year. Fairways were in good shape as well the roughs were quite rough and this course has a lot of Desert compared to some. The par-3 number six hole the green is on an island like the top courses. It was challenging.

My usual summertime threesome had a tee time for 9:52 am at a price off GolfNow for $44. The recent developments for COVID-19 has caused this course to take SOME action (foam pool noodle at the bottom of the cups, plastic bags for range balls instead of reusable buckets) however the check in process was the exact same. Not limiting people coming through the clubhouse, I would say is surprising to say the least. Other than those small items, the cartbarn guys were present (but didn't touch our bags to unload) and we were off to the first tee where the starter checked our receipts and led us onto the course a touch past 10:10am. Of notice, that's 18 minutes behind our scheduled tee time...

Onto the course, during this season of Arizona Golf there's been quite a bit of spring showers assisting every course's greenery and this course was no different. The fairways were lined precisely with manicured rough, the tee boxes were groomed crisply and the greens were consistent. I'd say the most notable thing was that this course doesn't have much rough width so the few tens of yards that line each fairway were quickly met with the usual desert shrubbery and rocks. The greens were in fact soft, rather receptive and scarce of any damaging pitch marks so putting was a pleasure. The bunkers were the only downfall on an otherwise pleasant day as they were beyond moist/watered, they were almost a consistency of mud but had been machine raked in the morning.

The course itself has been through its improvements here and there. This course is known for stacking the tee sheet a bit close together which can lead to massive backup during the busy/peak season however we were able to finish 18 within 4 hours. The strong suit of this course is the practice facility, $10 for a large bucket of 110 balls into a range that is rather large allowing for at least 50 golfers or so as well as an instruction area. They also have two putting greens that are rather large allowing for you to practice all types of putts, sloped or straight as well as a chipping green with a full sized bunker.

During the off season, I live nearby so I'm here quite a bit practicing and during the summer the rates can easily be booked for a hot deal of about $14 everyday. It's a fun course and worth a play anytime. I just wouldn't be able to suggest this place as the course you take your out-of-town friends that want to play golf unless they're on a strict budget.

Played with my dad and my girlfriend's dad all through a GolfNow rate of $10 a person for a 1:07pm tee time on 05/20. Great price for this course with a few nearby courses that can attempt to eat up competition (Gold Mountain and Superstition are nearest big dogs). Cartbarn guy was there to welcome us and the pro shop let us out whenever we were ready. There was no cart girl (haven't seen one for the summer in the afternoon ever) however plenty of water stations situated every four holes or so.

This course has been making some improvements around the desert brushes and trees so there's a little bit of plant carnage laying around for now. Once cleaned up the ambiance of the nature will seem cleaner. The tee boxes were all clean and green, easy to plant a tee at your choice of height. The fairways have ample sprinkler heads in the middle which causes green middle and dried out edges of fairways. The landing areas were clean and if there were any divots they seem to be filled by the maintenance team. The rough isn't the longest however the main defense of the course is the desert dirt that usually lies a few ten yards off the edges of the fairway. The greens were the truest I've seen this course, with only one or two par 3's with severe pitch mark damage but the rest were smooth and running around a 9.

This course is uniquely simple. Large driving range with great green grass to hit from into dirt, 3 practice greens with bunkers and the course is pure. Maybe there isn't some flashy 3 hole finish or crazy long par 5 gimmick; but I feel like being out playing golf under $30 in the summer with no houses nearby, a road running along what feels like at most 4 holes and a course that is actually impacted by wind severely in Arizona...feels right. This feels like the desert golf people from Florida would describe, and I enjoy it every time.

This is a course that you want to play early in the morning before the wind picks up. Miss a fairway here and you are hitting out of the desert and rocks. With that saying the course is in good shape and The greens roll pretty true. The course is pretty flat, but has some interesting holes where pulling out the driver could get you into trouble. Most of the fairways are not very wide and stray from them will put you in the desert where you will find your ball resting on hard dirt and rocks. Perfect lie to break a club or damage one for sure. Even though the scorecard shows some water there is only one lake as the rest are dried up. Most of the greens are large, but have multiple tiers that make being in the wrong spot will make for a roller coaster of a putt. The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was right. Beware of the wind because it blows all of the time....

Played on July 22nd at 12:00pm using a hot deal thru GolfNow of $10 dollars. The pro shop was actually open and labeled this time around as well as staffed considerably more than my last visit. 2 cart/bag drop employees, the pro, as well as an inside employee. Got to the course around 11:30pm, was checked out and teed off by myself at 11:45pm.

It's a shame no greenskeeper reviewer has played here since I did last year however I will shed some more light on this overlooked golf course in the land of golf (Arizona). The putting greens were being punched and sanded however I think they're a week or so away from great condition. The fairways were solid as well as the bunkers. Not too much rough Bc if you miss a fairway it's basically desert rubble and dirt. A noticeable difference from this course to others is the conditions seemed water friendly as many sprinkler heads were in middle of fairway, so it seemed the farther from the middle your ball landed the more roll it had.

I like this course mainly because it is a no frills type golf course. You get cheap rates, good playable fairways and greens with amazing impeccable tee boxes. The carts are gas powered which means they're quicker than most courses (which my non golfer friend enjoyed using LOL). There are plenty of water coolers on course and it's usually empty meaning quick rounds. I played 18 holes within 3 hours and didnt have to play thru a single group.

If you want some playing tips, read my last review...but if you're looking for courses that offer good pure golf..read this review along with my last few. This course is easily a favorite of mine, I suggest some of y'all try it out.

I finally made it out to Apache Creek on Tuesday August 26th with a tee time of 2:59 pm hot deal of $10. First off, if you like the desert and wind, play here. Staff was below average. It took forever to get to the pro shop because it was poorly mapped out and one of the two employees was out picking balls. I had to flag someone down to get a cart key and check in. That is my only gripe. From there it was SOOO much fun.

The practice tee was green and playable into a dirt range. Two putting greens that are huge and a chipping green with a bunker. Walking up to the first tee presents you with what is to come. A fast golf cart, fast fairways, and great greens. My quote for this course would be, if Kevin Costner didn't "own" that driving range, they would've shot the movie at this course. Great tee boxes, hard fairways that were playable, and greens that had great speed and reception.

The fun part of this course? The layout and the location of the holes in the desert. You have no houses, a few little dirt roads near the outskirts, and water in all the perfect places. The wind was up this day because of the monsoon/haboob coming in and boy did this course play to it's potential. You played with the breeze, against the wind, crosswinds, swirling and all of the above in a few holes. A few island greens. Great mixture. Lots of fun.

Tips for this course are easy; do you see a tree in the fairway? Aim at it. See a bunker on the edge of a dogleg? Aim your shot to play off it because it'll roll out more. Greens all play back to front...seriously. Use them. Par 5 and your in the fairway? Go for it, usually more room around the greens on the par 5. Slopes on the green play back to front...USE THEM! HAHA

In all honesty, I will be back often because this feels like the type of course that you can shoot your best at or you can allow the ambiance to make you shoot 100+.

Played Wed 4/22, early morning tee time. I'll say this for Apache Creek, they do have nice facilities: good clubhouse and dining area, HUUUGE driving range and reasonably priced balls, nice chipping area and putting area. The course itself I've never really cared for. It's flat (think Toka Sticks with a bit more mounding around the greens), there is no rough to speak of and any ball hit slightly off will find the vast stretches of desert area. This can be both a benefit and a curse, more often a curse. Tee boxes were in good shape, plenty of flat green hitting areas. Fairways had good but thin coverage, bunkers had enough sand in them to hit decent shots out of them. The greens were in good shape, but definitely had a "repel all boarders" mentality. Very hard and very fast. A good shot at the flag often ended up 20-30 past, frequently rolling off the green. Need to hit the ball short of the flag and run it up there. Signature hole is #6, a Par 3 to an island green. While water can come into play on 6 holes (5, 6 & 7 all have the lake to contend with, and 13, 15 & 17 have a small creek meandering through them), the water levels are so low right now that the intimidation factor is minimized (or even eliminated, as the creek was dry in many areas, allowing a ball to run through the catch areas back onto a fairway). POP was right around 3 hours, and will probably only get faster as the summer wears on, not unlike the greens. CP

Played 1-16-2011. Paid $37 online. The fairways, greens & tee boxes are green. The overseeded greens have many areas where the rye grass has not filled in, but are not bumpy. They have some, mostly smooth, brown patches. Course has some sharp doglegs, an island green (#6) and a very narrow opening between trees on #12. Otherwise pretty straightforward. Plenty of variety although very flat. Good views although right next to busy freeway. No houses. Good service. Everything you would expect. Half of driving range tees are covered and have a mist system for hot weather.
Hard to find a better value in Phoenix area for this time of year!

Played Jan 9. Have driven by many times, finally had a chance to play on spur of the moment. Course better than expected, greens and area around greens very good. Fairways thin but not hard, easy to take divot. No rough at edge of fairways so nothing to stop ball from going into desert. Very little in the desert makes it easy to cut doglegs. A lot of traffic noise on some holes but great views of the mountains.
