Played Arizona Golf Resort with a $11 hot deal tee time off GolfNow at 9:52am on the 26th of July. The greens had recently been punched and sanded, just to state before hand so that's probably part of the reason that tee time was being offered. The last time I played here was a while ago, and since then their customer service has been improved. Cart guys were present in the hot summer morning hours and the pro shop offered fair service as well upon check in. They offered me a course yardage guide for free which is a nice touch often not seen at courses now, they seem to always be of charge around $5. The course is in fair shape besides the green as mentioned. The tee boxes were definitely immaculate, firm trimmed grass with just the right amount of firmness to hold a tee wherever placed. The fairways were softer then usual at this time of year though trimmed just above the height of a tee box. The rough was rather high, though in some places of the course less prevalent than other spots. I'd say the rough was around two inches all day, enough to lose a ball that doesn't find the fairway. The bunkers weren't dry but not necessarily fluffy, enough to hit the shot of choice green-side or to approach the green out of a fairway bunker. The greens were aerated , looking to be about three weeks away from playable healing. The strategy behind this course is rather plain, a few doglegs which entice big hitters to try to cut with little reward available as often times a closer approach not meaning any easier. The fairways on most par 4's have two sections, a lay up portion ending around 150 yards left to the green and a go for it section often spliced by a cart path. Rather interesting that each fairway is designed this way but it's nothing to sneeze at either. The course is rather flat with very little change in height from tee boxes to greens and houses lining basically every hole, I wouldn't venture to say this feels like a resort course but much rather a community course. It's a nice course that you can play golf at during the summer, but with the tee times spread out no more than 7 to 8 minutes I'd say this course is avoidable during the winter/fall time when the tee sheet is filled to the brim leading to 5 hour plus rounds that I myself have experienced here versus the 3 hour round I played yesterday.

I got out and played Arizona Golf Resort on 6/2/18 with a 1050 tee time. This was the first and last time I've played this course. The greens fee was reasonable for a course in better shape this time of year, $40 with range balls. The course was running 40 minutes behind schedule and we didn't tee off until 1130. Unknown to my group a scramble had tee'd off in the morning prior to regular tee times. The employee at the counter said groups were taking 3 hours or longer to play nine holes. Play was slow up until hole #9 when the last groups finally finished up. Our front nine took about 3 hours to play with the back nine only 2 hours as a foursome. The course itself was in shabby condition overall. A large number of tee boxes had large crowns and bare spots. Fairways were thin with a large number of bare spots throughout. Rough was nonexistent except around the greens. Grass around the greens was the best anywhere on the course. Greens were slow but consistent. The only positive point of the course were the sand traps. The traps I was in had a good amount of sand in them and they were nice to play. The course is on the short side except for the par 3's. All in the 180-200 yard range. I'm not sure why course do that because I think it slows play down. I understand it is an older course and you can tell it gets a lot of play throughout the year but I'm not sure why. I wouldn't recommend this course and as I said won't be going back. You can play a dozen courses in better shape for the same price point this time of year.

Played with an old high school baseball teammate at Arizona Golf Resort around 9 o clock for only $17. Would say it was worth it but wowzers. I don't usually complain but first the pro shop allowed not just one eight-some but TWO! In front of two separate twosomes and we ended up playing together thru choice...but two eight-somes is gruesome. Come on. The pro shop had no answer for it. The outside service didn't blink...like it was an often occurrence. From there on, it was eh besides a 4.5+ hour round. The conditions were good especially for the last few months of this dry summer. The tee boxes were clean however many (4 to 6 holes total) had hills or bumps in the middle and caused for a helluva time finding a good teeing ground. The fairways were the highlight of this course and to be honest the best I've played on all summer. Every lie was sitting up and just the right firmness. The roll-out from the fairways led to above averages drives which made the approach shots be a lot of wedges. The greens were decent, they rolled true but seemed to never accept the spin well on full shots. Around the edges there were large amount of pitch-marks because it seemed the edges were well watered. The course was rather short, I think every Par 5 was below 500 yards. The par 3's were pretty long though, 3 of 5 being above 200 (I played the tips). The par 4's were only different by the amount of side fairways there were and trees in the way of the approach shots. Boring design as it was usually driver-short iron or wedge and flat putt. Then your momentum is cutoff by a un-usually long par 3. The course allowed me to shoot my best score comparative to par to date, however the experience with customer service and lack of awareness by the staff is a sour taste in my mouth and I won't be returning ANY time soon. Play Superstition instead, or even Viewpoint. They care more than here.

Played 12/21 for $19 on a GN discounted rate, which included a small bucket of balls Course let me out 45 minutes early to play with a two-some, very happy they did. Great conditions, mild and sunny, no wind at all.

This course is a destination year after year for Snowbirds. Never been paired with anyone locally in the wintertime, and this was no exception. Tee boxes were in good shape, and very, very wide areas to choose from on most holes. Course is mostly flat except around the greens, and the raised areas can add 1/2 to a full club on many shots. There are six Par 3s, all but one of which measure over 180 yards, and today all were playing at the blue flag, which added an extra 10-12 yards to the shots. The Par 3s can definitely eat up your score in a hurry if you're not careful. The Par 4s are pretty redundant and generally long, but the five Par 5s are all reachable for better hitters (at least in the summer time). Oddly, thanks the layout, I never used my 8,9 or PW on any hole; I either had a hybrid/fairway wood into the hole, or was left with a little lob wedge.

Bunkers ranged from fair to very good, some still water from a recent rain. Greens were quick but not crazy. Customer service was excellent today.

Played Arizona Golf Resort today. Find the course very fun and enjoyable . Fairway were green and lush. Greens were in great shape, couple of them spotty and ball marked. Played for $30.00 with lunch and a free beer. Can't beat that. Staff was friendly and helpful. Played in 4hrs on the nose. A little over watered in some spots. I would recommend to play if you get a chance.

Played on a Wednesday afternoon (4/03/13) and it wasn't too busy. The course was in good shape. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The price was very fair for an April tee time. The driving range was in reasonable shape for the amount of usage it received. Overall, it is a great course for golfers who want to go out and enjoy a competitive round.

Played 4/8 as single, paired up with another single and a twosome. Nice thing about AGR is they don't force singles to pair up in the same cart, so we both had all the room we wanted. Amenities: Clubhouse personnel very friendly, electric carts with ice chests attached, smallish grassy driving range and smaller putting green nearby the first hole. A unique feature of this course: Five Par-5s and Six Par-3s. Not so unique is that certain holes and layouts seem to repeat itself (Holes 5 & 6 can be played exactly the same way, cutting across the dogleg into wedge position for the approach; all but one of the Par 3s are between 185-205 and play almost alike). Course has wide, well-kept fairways, no bare patches to speak of. If you strayed from a fairway, you had patchy grass/dirt, but you could still dig your club under and get a good hit from that lie. Tee boxes were in good shape, starting to look a little thin but were well aerated and easy to hit from. Bunkers were in excellent condition: nice and sandy from each of the six I escaped. Biggest disappointment might be the greens: while they certainly held any shot hit into it, they were slow and bumpy, not just from unrepaired ball marks but from the seeds and debris from nearby trees that had fallen onto the green (the 40 MPH wind gusts did not help, either). Pace of Play clocked in @ 3:45, not too bad for a 9:20AM start. Overall, a solid if unspectacular course. CP

Played AGR Mar 11, 2012. I've played this course about half a dozen times in the last couple of years. It's always played as a reasonably-priced well-conditioned course. It's board flat, and while that does cut into the interest level some, the dog legs and length along with plenty of mature trees add to the difficulty.

On my recent round all of the manicured surfaces were in fine shape; tee boxes, fairways, and greens. There were a few areas of sogginess due to overwatering. As per usual, off the manicured surfaces there's plenty of hardpan, but there's also a lot of good quality grass in the periphery of this course. I was in two sand traps and looked over another couple, and they had good workable sand.

This course gives you a small bucket gratis with a round, which is nice.

I've eaten at the restaurant before, and I've always thought the food was good and the ambiance looking over the course is very nice.

One thing I always notice about this course is that it's among the quietest courses I play. It snakes through houses. I find it a little tight in spots and very wide in others.

A fair gripe about this course is that of the six par 3 holes, four of them play to a similar 210ish yardage and two play to a similar 170ish yardage. I typically use only two different clubs on their par 3s, although #4 was at 230 last week, so that had me pulling my 3 wood.

The par 5s are slightly short at 480-505, but I don't typically reach them in two. The par 4s are all over 380 yds, so no drivable par 4s. Very little in the way of forced carries on this course; one par 3 goes over water. In general, the water hazards are not difficult to avoid.

Overall, this course is and will remain in my regular rotation. It isn't a course that will inspire effusive compliments, but it's solid.
