Played Friday the 1st of March and teed off in the afternoon. Course is not long but has some teeth in its greens and the narrow fairways. The course was busy but the pace was great and we finished in about 4 hours. Tee boxes level and nice and plenty of tees to find the right one for your game. The fairways were narrow and if you miss them you will be in a house or in the desert. Greens were in great shape and were very hard to read. Lots of little breaks and undulations that were hard for me to detect. Traps had very little sand and were hard and not fun if you were in them. The course is definitely fun and I would play it again for the money. Saw the cart girl about 4 times and the guys in the clubhouse were great.

Played Coldwater as a single at 7:30am for $29.93 off golfnow. Showed up to the easy to find course off the I-10 nearby the PHX International Raceway to be greeted by staff quickly. Checked in at the pro shop which is situated next to the clubhouse/grill area. The woman that checked me in offered me to leave off the tenth tee (started on the back nine) whenever I pleased since I did not know the other two paired with me at the tee time, as well as I showed up around 7:05am. The course is situated between some Avondale suburbs and plays off the houses and nearby traintracks quite nicely. The morning conditions provided soft and slightly moist greens and fairways on the front nine, often leaving a great lie in the fairway. The tee boxes were well manicured (except for one or two holes, from the tips). The rough was either desert shrub or rough that grew to a few inches, nothing extreme but penal enough to not have any spin into the green. The bunkers, though few and far between, were amazing. Fluffy and sat the ball up well allowing for a multitude of shots greenside. The greens, aerated about 2-3 weeks ago, were perfect. Immaculate. Smooth. Firm. All of the above. They were amazing. The size and shape could've lead to some tough conditions during the summer but the green and fringe was perfect. Truly, I was amazed. The course lends itself to some frustrating holes, from the tips as a first time player, on the back nine but most of the time the tee shots are easy. You can visually see the landing zone, with certain holes rolling out more if the hills are hit with driver. The greens are deceptively smaller than you think which means you basically have to fly the front of the green and just have a good putting day, not many green lights at flagsticks. What amazed me about this course, is the lack of large sand bunkers (there are native waste areas that aren't maintained) but the strategy doesn't lack a punch. The designers did a great job utilizing land and making your ball interact with the turf in order to shoot low scores. Definitely a sleeper track and worth playing on the west side of PHX!! Will be posting a ton of pictures, had plenty of time as I played between 4somes with a Pace of Play still below 4 hours.

One of my vendors took me out here this morning for a 7:45 tee time. Pretty generous fairways, a few challenging holes tee to green from the tips. The greens we're very firm and rolled true, with some great pin positions today. The cart girl was around at least four times in our four hour round. It is a fairly forgiving course, but it is easy to put some high numbers on the card. Definitely recommend.

I played Coldwater with a 1000 tee time. Rate was $25 plus a couple for range balls. Not a bad deal. It’s been a few years since I played here and I think the condition had improved.

I played Coldwater with a 1000 tee time. Rate was $25 plus a couple for range balls. Not a bad deal. It’s been a few years since I played here and I think the condition had improved.
Range was in ok shape and a bit on the small side but adequate.
Course was on the dry side with lots of bare spots but still playable. Needless to say it helped on drives with some extra roll. Fairways were dry but still had enough grass to make some shots.
Greens looked like they had been punched recently and were crusty but consistent and playable throughout the round. Definitely on the fast side and had to be taken account of for approach shots and chips.
Overall a fun course to play with a number of challenging and fun holes.

Final round of the day was at Coldwater. I saw online their tee sheet was pretty wide open in the afternoon, so I headed over and was teeing off by myself around 2:30. The twilight rate reduction goes down at 3:00, but the kid in the pro shop was super nice and gave me a deal when I mentioned it was my third round of the day. The course was actually busy, though. I ultimately joined up with the twosome in front of me and another single joined us later. They all left after nine and then another single joined me on the back nine. Total pace around 4:10 and just finishing before dark. The course was in pretty good condition and in some respects, actually the best of the day. The overseeded tee boxes were decent. Par-3s a bit chewed up and not always level, but never had too much trouble finding a flat spot to tee it up. The overseeded fairways were really nice overall with just some inconsistent spots here and there. The rough was interesting. A handful of holes were completely overseeded and had really nice rough. Almost all holes had overseeded rough around the greens that looked and played great. Then, a majority of holes had completely dormant/hardpan rough along the fairways that bled into bare dirt areas on the outer edges of the course. It was interestingly inconsistent because the overseeded areas were so nice and the dormant/dead areas were so less-than-appealing. I wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked okay. Couldn't tell from afar if they were loaded with AZ pebbles or not. There really aren't many sand traps on this course at all anyway. The greens were firm, yet moderately receptive and rolling pretty well at medium speeds. A tad bumpy/grainy at times, but probably the best surfaces of the day. Coldwater is mostly a grip-it-and-rip-it paradise with generous fairways and mounding along the edges that can be helpful at times. There are a few places where homes can come into play, but mostly it's pretty open. A few greens are really tricky with lots of undulation while others are more mild. Most have some minor humps and bumps that can be difficult to read. Only a couple water holes and, like I mentioned, very few sand traps that are any threat to your score. Fairly decent mid-to-low-end locals course in above average shape.

Only thing that takes away from it are the power lines that cut through a few holes.

Tee boxes were excellent super flat and complete coverage.
Fairways were very good with very few bad spots. Lush and easy to hit from
Rough was pretty short and not really an issue.
Green side chipping areas and rough were very good.
Greens were nice but but pretty slow. Some really, really big greens that offer many, many cool pin placements.

6700 from the tips was a fun challenge for me (0.7 index)
I would recommend one up from that back for mid cappers.

All in all a very enjoyable course that is off of many people's radar.
Summer time rates are great at under 30.00.
I could see paying 60.00 + in high season.

Had the chance to play several courses in AZ in the month of March. The first course is Cold Water Golf Club. 49.00 will get you everything from your tee-time to range balls and water for your cooler. POP was just 4:15. Fairways are well maintained and very lush, and closely mowed giving terrific lies. Rough was medium, about 2-3 inches and just about out of dormancy. Fairway and Green bunkers well maintained with sand in fairway bunkers 2-3 inches and green side 4-5 inches, not the nice marble white, but still light brown and quite fluffy.
Greens were a tad hard for my liking but still would hold with a high approach or if you had some spin, on this day they were running fast 10 or even 11 according to the marshal I spoke with. The course is not overly long at just 6758 from the tips, but is a good opening round to get the fever going. It is certainly worth the green fees, and the course personal are friendly and well informed. I would certainly return for another round.

Great layout at a reasonable price. Generally kept in good shape year round. Greens are challenging. Greenskeeper likes to set pins in devilish areas on some holes.

Having played the Coldwater course multiple times throughout the different seasons I was very pleased with the condition it was in during the Dog Days of August. We played 2 rounds there in the span of 2 weeks.

The fairways were well cut and green with no bald or dead areas. There was an area under repair or getting ready to add some bunkers on a couple of holes.

The greens overall were a little slow for this time of year, but they were consistent and some were a bit bumpy. A high approach shot will easily hold the greens.

The rough, was a consistent 2 or so inches and very lush. All the more reason to stay in the fairway.

It is a great value with undulating fairways, some short/medium desert carries from the tees and rolling greens. Carts are always included in the green fees.
