In a word: disappointing. Started off well, with a friendly clubhouse guy letting me tee off early, but unknown to me is that the greens were being punched. As the immaculate, lush greens were always the best thing about this course, this made playing here less than ideal. Tee boxes were adequate, fairways were lush in spots but often pockmarked with bare patches. Normally, I would not bring up the following incident, but as it relates to the course's playability, I will. As a single, I caught up with a slow threesome by the fifth hole. They were residents (this is a semi-private course) and proceeded to NEVER let me play through. Back nine took an hour longer than the front. On the 16th hole, a course greenskeeper came by, saw me waiting at the tee box, and asked me if I wanted him to ask them to let me play through. With two holes to play, it was useless at that point, so at least he apologized for the rudeness of the players ahead. Still, between the attitude of the local players + the less than stellar care of the course, it gives me pause about returning anytime soon.

Played 4/22. 2:20 TTime. Got their email rate of $27+tx anytime thru the end of May. Course is in nice shape. It can be best described as firm & fast overall. Fairways & greens are very firm. Rough is cut short. Shots off of it are like hitting off of "hard pan" Greens are smooth & true. Running 10.5-11. We were playing at a good pace until we got to #12. It was a 3 group back-up. (Par 3 Island Green, 2 club wind that day) Waited on every shot the rest of the way. Service was OK. Good practice area. Definitely worth the price.

Played on Jan. 2nd. Green fee of $59 incl. cart (ex. tax). Course seemed to be a busy one. It was in good shape and moved along fairly well. Nice course and good value for money. We finished in four and a half hours, however it seems to have a large "membership" i.e. retired folks with "pimped up" golf carts and plenty of time, so it can likely be very slow at times. All in all it was a very enjoyable course, staff were friendly.

Played 9/19. Got an online rate of $25 +tax, included cart, but not practice balls. Golf course is in nice shape overall. Desert layout through housing development. Houses are close to the edges of the course on a few holes. Course has more water hazards than most of the other desert courses around. Fairways are generous & in good shape. A few bare patches & ground under repair. Rough was not deep & you usually would draw a good lie. Sand traps were good. Fairway traps mostly had low faces, giving you a chance to advance a long iron to the green. Green side traps were deep & made you get the ball up quickly. Greens were about 10-11. Anything above the hole, made speed critical. Only negative about the course was its lack of yardage markers. They had 150 yard stakes & sprinkler head yardage to the middle of the green. Half the sprinkler heads had nothing. They also didn't give you any pin position information. ( I guess that's why they want to charge $6 for their yardage book.) Staff & service was good. Try the food in The Grille. azgolfer25 liked it after we overheard some people saying how excellent it was. Definitely worth the green fee. Submitting some pictures.

at any rate, it's a very well maintained track w/ lots of interesting holes. it was a bit on the spendy side, but that's been my experience w/ arizona golf, if you want to play when it's not 200 degrees outside, it's going to cost you.

that being said, you won't feel like you were ripped off....everything about this course was nice - clubhouse, staff, practice facilites, layout, course conditions....all excellent.

I Took 3 buddies on Sat. morowning all out of area. They had never played there before. They were impressed!!!! Great greens that they could not figure out..... They have very sutle breaks & slopes. All stated, "if I lived close I would golf here all the time". It rained all night on Friday before... It was wet in some areas, but played true, & the greens were running by the afternoon.... Thanks Lone Tree!!!! I now have 3 new golf partners!!!!
