Played on Pro Bowl Sunday around 2:40 pm for $39 plus tax (best deal for tee times is through their course website/booking service, call in and refer to the price online). Got paired up on a rather humming Sunday...didn't have to necessarily wait on every hole but didn't whiz through the course either. Cart girl saw my group about 2 times per nine so she was definitely customer service orientated.

The courses we played we White to Gold. Probably my favorite nine on this course is the white because of the great design and set up on the holes. This course is just so unique and as you can tell by how many reviews I've done on Ocotillo, I always come back.

The course conditions were consistent throughout the course. Because of the rain, some of the bunkers weren't healthy or fully drained and played as course under repair. But the course played soft and true, greens looked healthy after a rough summer/fall (rough meaning a lot of work done to greens and soaking the overseed in October). The tee boxes and fairways were near identical, couldn't find a bad lie. The rough was penile at times but with the generous fairways here, scoring isn't too tough like others in the valley. Worth the tee fee.

It's been a while since I posted but I'm back from my vacation/stay-cation.

I played Ocotillo Golf Resort on July 3rd for my annual bday round, around 11 o clock for $25/player. The customer service was amazing as usual thru Troon Golf, from them answering my call days prior regarding prices to the courses we would be playing due their 3 nine hole complex. Bravo. The staff knows their stuff from bag drop workers to the bartenders. It's something Ocotillo has and hopefully will continue to lead the pack in: customer service.

The course itself was surprisingly a bit beat this early in summer. Now the tee boxes and sand traps were good, however finding a green in immaculate condition were few and far in between. The greens were puttable however they were definitely different from the practice greens (which leads me to believe it is the golfers and not the greenskeepers). The water was pleasant to look at which is key to Ocotillo's success mainly because there is water on 22 of 27 holes on this complex.

We played Blue to Gold combination which is the best IMO. To me, the strategy plays like your Florida tropical target golf with many approach shots over water and nothing longer than a 6 iron. Typically speaking, this course is easy however when in bad condition such as the day I played it can test your patience.

I enjoyed playing however I assume Ocotillo will fix their headaches that the greens and rough have been lately. I will be returning mainly due to service and past experiences.

Played Blue/White 9's today. Got a decent deal thru their website. Pacesetter time - to be finished the round <4 hrs. No chance of that today we were 4:15. I like this courses 3 nines quite a bit. 5 of the holes were cartpath only which always causes delays-long rounds. Where it was cartpath only the fairways had many, many divots-unrepaired/unsanded, as most people, including myself, usually forget to take the sand bottle with us, so no divot repairs by the players and it seems to me that the grounds crew don't do it either, so lots of divots. The tees were quite bare, with many being uneven/ not level, and the par 3's had lots of divots. The greens were generally pretty good, however on several greens there are "valleys" and the balls hit there frequently and leave divots, even with attempts to repair them there are a lot of them, which make those greens bumpy. You really have to pay attention to where the pins are and hit the ball to that level as some/many of the greens have large undulations making for some looooong and "interesting" putts.

Played last Tuesday 8/25, goin off in the morning. As perhaps the most "non-deserty" golf course in the SE Valley, Ocotillo holds a softspot for me: no cacti, no desert scrub, no acres of dirt, just grass, waterfalls and water. Lots of water. Something like 3/4 of all holes have water either to the left, to the right, or meandering across the various fairways. A good rule of thumb when playing here is "If you can't see the landing area, then assume there's water down there. " I played the Gold & Blue tracks, as the White track was closed for maintenance. Tee boxes and fairways in their usual good shape, as were the bunkers I was in. The greens, however, were less than ideal. I cannot recall ever playing on greens this slow, and on a course like Ocotillo, it should never happen. When I played my final hole, the 9th on Blue, I had about a 45 ft putt for birdie. Having experienced the previous 17 holes, I actually brought my putter back well past my ankles and made solid contact. Under normal conditions, that putt should have rolled about 20 ft off the green; instead, it ended up about 18" from the cup and left an easy tap in par. I also noticed the grounds crews loaded up their Gators with rolls of sod, which are being put in around many of the greens, particularly on the Gold 9. Still a good track, with great amenities and excellent customer service, but those greens right now will mess up your game. CP

Played for my birthday this time at a tee time of $25 plus tax on July 3rd around 1:21 pm. Customer service was quick to greet, pleasantly talkative, and easy to ask questions. The practice range was moved to other side, however it was easy to navigate as multiple associates warned us about the location. Even though it was packed, we were able to take our time to get to the tee box. All was well!

The course is in great shape for summer as we played Gold/Blue combination, with tee boxes lush and greens VERY receptive. In the AZ summer, many greens are toasty to say the least...however these were so soft that on the first hole I backed up a 9iron right into the hole for eagle. The only negative for soft greens in AZ are the amount of pitch marks that are ignored and often in the line of your putt. Greens were raked, clean, and often fluffy enough to get some great spin. The only bad part of the Gold course was the rough was negligent, many patches and it wasn't even present. I see that they're working on it with sod being laid down, hopefully it will catch on in this heat or we might see renovations soon.

The strategy is amazing at this course, because you need great yard ages to attack pins. The yardage book will help with that but SKILL is required. You definitely will get your iron game tested, along with the putter. With a lot of water, a high handicapper may be scared but a low handicapper like myself will avoid water if you can get ball in air reliably. Fun track, almostmy favorite course ever because it is just on a great piece of land in Chandler. Will return, and hopefully you do too!

Played this course on March 25th with my dad for his birthday, and the greens fees were only $49 plus tax per player after 2 o clock. Great deal for this course. Let me start off by saying that Ocotillo has always been exceptional in all areas that I judge a golf course. Troon has something to do with that for sure!

The course was in great shape, as we played Blue Gold combination. The course was true, fairways lush and rough very challenging if you get in the deep stuff. The greens were smooth and very true to its complexities that Ocotillo is known for. It seems as every putt had at least 2 inches of break. Which is great because some Arizona courses are quite boring once on the green. As I've mentioned before, since I play here often, it isn't the longest course by any stretch however you do need to have accurate placement off the tee. Great challenge to find the right angles!

The pace of play was great especially with how busy it was as it was around 4 1/3 hours. The customer service was amazing as usual, waiting on us hand and foot. Cart girl Alania was courteous and stayed out til 5 or so, which is impressive. As far as the facilities, great. Free range balls with any tee time, two putting greens as well as a chipping green, so no excuses!!

The clubhouse is amazing if you have time and the bar is always worth a visit. ;)

All I can say is WOW!!! If you like a beautiful scenery, then the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona is the course for you. It is a Troon Course located about 15 minutes south of the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. This course is amazing. I spent a week in Phoenix last week, and played about 5 courses, this was by far the best. It has 3 9 hole courses, Blue, Gold, and White. I played the Blue and White courses. I also played from the White tees because I figured I would lose less balls. The Blue Course played 3,068 and the White played 2,857. 14 of the 18 had water come into play. Absolutely beautiful! The greens were Bermuda and played very slow, highly advice to forget the old saying put when you can chip,… chip, chip, chip! It’s a lot of target golf, and if you stay in the middle of the fairway, you should have a good round. A few blind tee shots, but most of the fairways have a 150 yard marker in the center. Take dead aim and you should be find. Due to the recent flood, regulars told me the water was about a foot higher than normal, but it didn’t matter, it was still beautiful. The staff was great. I played twilight for only $31 via Golfnow. Can’t wait to go back and play it again. http://www.ocotillogolf.com

Played early morning 6/6 with a "pacesetter" tee time, designed to have your round finish in under 4 hours. Love it! Phenomenal Troon service, saw the guy at drop off three different times during the day and kept asking and making sure we were doing well. Good rate with a breakfast sandwich or burrito at the turn as a bonus. Both excellent. Great condition course with a LOT of water. No desert cactus here, looks more like a so cal layout, while not a super interesting mix of holes, enough variation and water to make it interesting. After playing all the desert courses, was a nice change of pace and significantly cooler with all the water. Finished in just at 4 hours. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Played 4/16, after 1PM start time for $39+ tax. Second time playing the exact two 9's as the last time here, about 3 years ago. I really like this course for the condition of the course, the lakes and the beautiful houses that surround them.
The whole course was in very good condition, no GPS in the carts was a bummer. Pick up a yardage card, if it is your first time here, you will need it. Beware of the lake, on the final whole on the Gold course, it is in range of your drives.
Club house was very nice, patio looked very inviting for a drink.
Definitely worth the fee.
