On a brief trip out to AZ. Decided to make TPC Scottsdale my 800th different course played when I saw they had pretty decent rates available this time of year. I was unable to book as a single on their site, but I called and they gave me the current 36-hole deal of $133 and that was about as good as booking each round at the best individual round rates available online. More importantly, it allowed me to play Stadium first with a great 8:30 tee time. I was paired with a threesome. We kept pace with the groups ahead, and it was a good overall pace of about 4:20.

The course was in very good overall shape for late summer. The tee boxes were great. The fairways were excellent. Soft and fluffy bermuda, so not a lot of roll-out but ideal lies to hit from. The rough was mostly good and sometimes punitive. Some areas were rather deep and balls got lost. Most places it would sit up nicely. The bunkers were fantastic with soft white sand. The greens were sadly the weakest part of the course. They were well-kept with a pretty dry surface as you might expect this time of year. However, they were rolling brutally slow. I don't expect desert greens to be fast in August, but these were really slow and it did kind of take away from the overall experience.

I knew what to expect from the course having seen it on TV. The front nine is decent, but not overly distinctive. The back nine perks up and finishes really strong with 15-18. 15, 17 and 18 are especially great water holes. The famous 16th is the weakest hole of that closing stretch. It's a pretty basic little par-3 without the stadium stands and crowds of the tournament. They really should consider leaving the stands up all the time and maybe pumping in some crowd noise. It would be a cheesy gimmick, but it would put some "signature" in the signature hole. After all, they put a picture of that hole with the stands on the front of their scorecard, so why not give us regular golfers a little taste of that exciting setting?

Stadium is an enjoyable course with great conditioning (other than slow greens) and good service, but I am glad I got a good summer rate. The closing stretch is fun and it's always interesting to tee it up at a course where the pros play. At full price, though, I'd probably rather play something with more dynamic topography and scenery.

Greens are a little hard and still show some very little holes from when they punched them a few weeks ago. Course does have some dry spots in it and was told they will be closing the course in about a week to address some problems. I was told it was going to open back up in early August

Played 5.18. This is a very fun course to play. Great conditions. There is a lot of room to miss, so many shots that would be OB at home are in play here. But, if you are wild, there are hazards to make things difficult. Greens have some slope, but nothing drastic. You can see how a top pro could go into the low 60s here, it is score-able.

Unfortunate that we started on #10, because 15-18 are the stars here. There are apparently plaques about to commemorate different Tour happenings - but I missed the one in front of Tiger's Rock (#12 maybe)?

Sure, it is overpriced since it is a tour stop, but it is still a beautiful fun track that I enjoyed.

TPC Stadium is an outstanding layout, excellent condition and very challenging. They will be overseeding on 10/5 and I'm sure the course will be in excellent condition after the overseeding especially with the Waste Mgt Open due early next year. It will be fun to watch the tournament now that I've played the course! Customer service was excellent. Practice facility was outstanding. According to the locals, the Champions course across the street is just as challenging a layout and a lot cheaper. Another HOT day as the temp was 104 when we finished at 11:30 AM. Thanks to the guys who replied to my post on the Forum for info on Phoenix golf.

This TPC course is amazing. Played on August 3rd, Monday around 11 o clock for a disclosed amount ;-) First off, the amenities are amazing. From the bag drop, to the locker room to the practice tee...first class for sure. The whole staff welcomed us, giving us plenty of tips regarding the course and how to get around. I advise you get to the course an hour or so ahead. This way, you can get over the awe factor and focus up because it is sneaky tough.

Played from the tips, (but I would advise for those who don't have a driver carry of 270 to play up) and the lines off the tee are tricky. The starter gave us a hand guide with carry numbers and hazards that came in handy. The first tee shot for us (the 10th, dogleg right par 4) really is nerve-testing because you have bunker right and deep rough left. Expect that all day. Where you want to hit it, there is a forced carry. Where you should, is tough to grasp mentally. The approaches for every hole is tough, with sloped greens and water being eyed almost every shot. However, the sand is picturesque. Fluffy, soft, playable, and looks like powdered sugar. This is amazing for summer in AZ. 13th par 5, redesigned a lot. The choice to go left is no longer there and the drive is over water for about 250, bunker left at about 270. Going for it is tricky as there is a bunker protecting it left and slopes right to left. The 14th is the longest par 4 and was surely redesigned the most as the approach is a beast, long iron to hybrid all uphill. The 16th!!! Amazing, does play a club shorter, plus your adrenaline is running just from thinking of the crowd so club down. 17th, very strategic and sloping green. 18th was redesigned and the bubba line (all carry over the water) seems unimaginable. Fun finishing hole.

I usually use the second paragraph as an update on the conditions of the course, but I figured it would have been a waste of time. IT'S A TPC COURSE, IT WAS FLAWLESS. For the summer hours, sure there were a FEW burn spots but nothing in play. Bunkers were amazing as described above, and the greens rolled true. A little too true as me and my partner 3-putted from within 30 feet 3 times EACH. This is because of how tricky the slopes are hidden. Really well put together course. Loved it, and will be back. Hopefully around January ;-D The back nine contends with best back nine on tour!

Tee Boxes are very good, fairways are still lush, rough is very minimal and the sand traps are excellent. Greens roll smooth and fast but they do have some divot damage that no one fixed.
Great clubhouse and excellent practice facility and the staff is very friendly

I was out in Scottsdale for a bachelor party this past weekend and had the opportunity to play on Friday before the festivities started. I'm definitely glad I took advantage. This course is definitely a "bucket list" type course. It was everything I expected it to be.

POP was around 4hr 15 minutes. Price was $75 (Summer rates).
Tees: Perfect
Fairways: Perfect
Rough: Fairly thick with no bare spots
Greens: They were rolling a little slower than I would have liked but they were still very prestine and rolled true.
Sand: Nice and fluffy around the green
Customer Service: As good as could be expected from a TPC course.

Overall, I would highly recommend playing the course when they have the summer rates because it goes from $75 up to about $200 during the peak season.

Pros Everything. This golf course is hosting a tour event, Waste Management, in a month. Conditions are d%mn near perfect. Greens a little Slow but this was not a problem, not a con to report. Stadium for 16 up was amazing.
