Played for the first time today- Desert/Canyon rotation. Had a 1024 tee time. The 1015 tee time weren't around but the starter decided to wait and see if they showed rather than let us start. When they did show up, (at) 1025 the starter came up to us and said would we like to go to the 2nd tee and start there!?!?!? I certainly couldn't understand his logic for not letting us go ahead of them however......we did finish in 4 hours and 10 minutes. The group that was "ahead" of us, were on the 16th tee, when we were driving out of the property so they would be close to a 5 hour round. The course was in very good shape, well maintained it is a "high end resort" course, and actually is quite a pretty course although the course layout is somewhat confusing, especially the canyon layout as you finish the Desert 9 (only 1 hole of the Desert 9 is on the Canyon side) drive all the way back as Canyon #1 is about 50 yards down from #9 Desert. It is a shorter course, Desert/Canyon plays to 6086 yards from the tips. Greens were in good shape, as were the fairways. Lots of Desert to get into, and if you're in it, you likely can't play out of it. Many of the holes are difficult to figure out, so use the "map" provided. I don't think I'd play it again, just wasn't my type of course. We got a good rate through the Troon website of $79 +tx incl. sleeve of balls and a Troon hat.

Played morning of 8/4 w/ Rhett2go & his brother. Online rates were $72 before 12p, $35 after 12p week days. Played the Desert & Canyon nines. Together from the Championship tees, the course is a 6068 yard Par 70. 68.3 rating. 128 slope. It has four reachable Par 5's (482y-525y) and six Par 3's. This was a fun golf course. It requires more precision than length. It was in great condition for the Summer. This was the most lush course I have played all year. (Divots were big old patties of turf.)

Golf course is tougher than it looks on the card. There are lots of elevation changes, making club selection more difficult. Fairways, rough, greens & sand traps I rated all 8-9. Greens were smooth. Rolling about 9 on the stimp. Faster the last six holes when it got hotter.

Golf course is laid out (at) the base of the south side of Camelback Mtn. Lots of great views. Worth bringing your camera. Yardages are on the sprinklerheads and they do provide a yardage book which is very helpful. Could use more water stations on the course. Staff & service were good. It's a Troon managed facility. I would definitely come back and play again. Submitting photos.

Played Desert and Canyon...very nice! A lot better than Ocotillo Golf Course. My buddies and will play this course again next year.

very disappointing, especially tee boxes and fairways, not like other Troon courses. I was a single, supposedly golfing with a threesome. they were late, and showed up with 4th, so I was told I had to golf as a 5 some. when 4th was late, I teed off alone and spent most of course waiting for group in front of me. marshall was very nice and apologetic, and recommended Papagal municipal as another course to visit if golfing frequently.

I was severly disapointed with this course. We always ask when making a tee time about the condition of the course. We were told that one 9 was closed and the others were in good shape. Well the course was in terrible shape. The greens were being top dressed with sand while we were playing (he was one hole in front of us the whole way) and of course it was never mentioned by the starter or the staff in the pro shop that this was happening today. Some of the tee boxes had grass longer than the rough and others had large bare spots on them. There were no balls on the driving range and the pratice green had no markeres on it. I had a yardage book but for the life of me I had a hard time finding sprinkler heads with yardages on them. I have played quite a few Troon managed courses and this was the worst.
