After playing an SCGA outing at Seven Oaks CC in the morning, I wanted to get the most out of the day and hit another new course. Unfortunately, Lemoore was the next-closest public regulation course I hadn't played, so it was worth the extra 1.5-hour drive further north because I'm nutty like that. GK'er abbacat had carpooled with me to Bakersfield, so she was up for the extra adventure up to Lemoore. We called ahead and they let us know there was a high school tourney going on, but we should have no problems getting out. They sent us off the back nine first around 2:30 and the price was a reasonable $28 with cart. There were groups still in front, but things moved along nicely. A local single caught up to us on the 8th tee and we had him join us for the rest of the round. Overall pace was just under 4 hours. Conditions were pretty decent. Some tee boxes were better than others, but never had a problem finding a flat spot to put the tee in the ground. The fairways were generally pretty good with lush, green coverage and a few ugly spots here and there. I almost always had great lies, though. The rough was much more spotty and sparse with a lot of hardpan areas. The bunkers I found were good enough. The greens were very firm, but slow and often bumpy on putts. The two nines here have a very different feel. In general, I'd say the front nine was in better shape than the back. It definitely appears more green and lively. However, the greens were a little worse on the front nine. Some had bare spots and they just seemed less consistent overall. That said, I much preferred the front nine here. It has a nice feel with a bunch of different old trees in play. It features some fun hole layouts with a few really crazy greens featuring giant shelves. The back nine runs through a neighborhood and was much less interesting outside of a few good holes like 11 and 18. All the back nine water hazards other than on the 10th and 11th are completely drained, so they just kind of look dumpy and gross. Overall, I enjoyed the course more than I expected to. It's not worth going out of your way to play here like we did, but it's a solid muni option for this area. The prices were reasonable and the conditions were decent enough to have some fun on a beautiful afternoon in the Central Valley.

Love the two different nines and the great pricing. Greens were rolling as smooth as I have ever seen them. The fairways are still bumpy but they are working on them. Bunkers were concrete. Previous review has more details on course.

Played on Saturday 6/20/15. Fairways are very good. Tees great. Greens are very smooth in great shape just a little slow. The slowness actually makes them easier as there is a lot of humps in them. Rough was think just off fairways and increasing got less grass the farther you got away from the fairway ending with dirt on the extremes. It is a super affordable muni with two distinct nines. A much older tree lined affair that you better stay in the fairways or you are hitting punch shots under trees all day. Back is a modern design with mounding and a lot less trees with some housing and more water. If you live in the area it is a great course, especially for the price.

The fun part of this course and the reason to make a trip once in a while, for locals, (for travelers certainly a one and done) is the differing nines. Front nine old parkland style. Back nine typical nineties design.

Pace - 4hrs-ish Played as two on front then four on back moved smoothly the entire round.

Course Conditions - below average coming out of winter and last summer's drought. Greens were mostly smooth and med/slow with a few dead patches and spots of crab/other grass. Bunkers were inconsistent for the two I was in. Tees average at best. The fairways were/are always lacking. I understand time of year etc., but regardless of the quality of grass cover these are hands down the bumpiest fairways I have encountered. Anyone who has ridden in a cart here can attest to the fact and describe being jostled and bounced even in the center of fairways. We walked and it was rough on the trolleys

Staff - Great staff and one of the reasons to play here and return. They are happy to see locals and visitors alike and they have a thriving junior program. Kudos!

Value - Good prices standard and if you sign up for email or use golfnow the prices are great.

Food - Solid food good prices.

Facilities - Average when it was new and now aging but well kept. Getting a fresh coat of paint at this time.

Player Tip: These greens often/mostly do not break as much as they appear, until putts slow and grain takes over.

They don't over seed so you have the dormant tees, fairways and roughs. First off
the greens are excellent as usual. They are medium fast with a lot of slope to them.
Bunkers are also very good lots of deep fluffy sand. Grass coverage is also very good
only problem is the clumps of green grass sprinkled throughout. The two nines are
completely different. Front is a shortish tree lined traditional layout. While the back
is a little longer with humps, mounds and water. Runs through houses and a lot more
open than the front. Service is top notch and course is very affordable. A great course
for a muni. If I lived closer I would be there quite often.

On other business, but found time to play LeMoore Golf Course in the central valley. Hot and humid day (95+), so took a cart. Not a long course, definitely flat, lots of mature trees on the front. Oddly, the front nine was not unlike the front at Pacific Grove - two wildly opposite geographical locations. Fairways are OK - some great, some a bit thin and not terribly attractive. Lots of rolling hills throughout. For as hot as it gets there they do a good job of keeping the course green and very playable. Greens appear smooth, but are very soft and slow, leading to a frustrating putting day if you don't adapt in a hurry (I didn't). They look terrific and ball mark damage is about average - could be better. The back nine winds through a residential area, but houses are never intrusive. Some good driving holes on the back with wide, wide fairways. Par threes were challenging in length and pin placement. Bunkers are good (only in one) and not too many of them. One water hole on the front (kind of hidden and guess what? Bloop off the tee after trying to cut the corner. Rookie move.) Pace of play wasn't an issue - about three hours and I was let through one twosome - but front nine greens and (next) tees are pretty close together. Nice all grass range, good practice green (exactly like the course greens), small but nice pro shop and grill (good dog). Friendly staff. Easy to find.

Played the White tees, as I like to reach it in regulation once in a while. The whites were moved pretty far back today. They generally have them moved up, which I appreciate.

Tee Boxes and greens are in great shape for this course. Rough is average and spotty with same areas very thin. Keeping in mind that this a very fairly priced Muni, I can’t complain.

Greens are in excellent shape. A bit slow but rolling true. Aeration has heeled nicely.

Bunkers were mostly muddy. They could use a rake for us Dew Sweepers. Some standing water in some of them. They played very nicely in the afternoon though. Much better than most bunkers around the Valley.

POP is great here. We passed a 3 some on #4 and finish the front 9 in 1h20m. Got stuck behind 3 Foursomes from the men’s club, but those guys are quick. Never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes. Finished in 3h 30m after having to search for a few balls.

The practice facility is in pretty good condition, no mats here.

Overall a great place to play. Enjoy being able to get in and out in under 4h.

Nice course for the Money. Greens are very nice, comparable with more expensive courses. Fairways could use some improvement. Right now the greens are hard and fast, but this will change in the Summer, when they turn soft.

Great staff, clubhouse is a bit Rickety but on par with some other municipal courses.

Lemoore's Golf Course is a great municipal course that offers the most bang for the buck in at least a 50 mile radius. John and Rich are great guys and they usually have very good specials including a terrific Family special on weekends from noon on. The course has a decent layout and the greens are well kept. The fairways are a bit bumpy though so your back will feel it if you ride in a cart. The bunkers have new sand and it really made a difference. Military base close by so there are alot of service-members playing there which is terrific getting the opportunity to play alongside our nations heroes. Excellent Rates, Good Service, Good Golf, Good Food, Nice Pro Shop (with good deals).
